So sad. In hindsight, knowing he's killed himself, hearing him talk, especially about his home in the mountains, you can just hear a sadness in his voice. Heartbreaking. Great musician, great video.

What type of mic is he using at 1:25?? I don't think its just EQ anyone know?

@Boletes1 Mark Linkous used some very odd microphones, some of them would be considered "ruined" or otherwise terribly obsolete by most gearheads. A big part of the effect is from overdriving the microphone channel. EQing the channel and experimenting with heavy compression to make the volumn even will shape the sound further. A shure 57 type microphone would be fine for this, unless you enjoy experimenting with this type stuff there is no need for some exotic microphone.

@Boletes1 I read in an interview that it's an old cassette recorder microphone run through a distortion box to emulate his voice hope it helps
