  • I have the same question as @shalukuttan

  • Is there a way to shoot directly into lightroom without it having to write to the memory card? The issue i'm having is that I run out of buffer and the camera will just sit there till it writes to the memory card. So rather than writing to the memory card at all i'd like it to write directly to the computer since firewire would faster right?

  • Hi! Great Tutorial!

Even though I can't check the "Enable Auto Import" like you did on 2:29

I use Lightroom 3, how to fix it? Can I skip it?

    Anyone who knows?

  • F U. NIKON + PC HERE

  • Can you go fullscreen with tethered shooting?

I want to create automatic live updated photographs.

Don't have a wireless system, can I use the program anyway (by using cables) ?

  • I recently started using Lightroom 3 after using version 2 since the day it was released.

I was very excited to start using the Thethered Mode offered within Lightroom only to find out that it simply processes photos far too slow. Why? Well, unfortunately, in Thethered Mode, when a photo is taken, it goes to the camera's memory card 1st & then is imported through Lightroom. Canon's DPP simply allows photos to be saved directly to your HDD. What a bummer. Thanks for this tutorial.

  • Hey chris quick question.. i did all you said to do, but when i shoot on tethering an ERROR message pops up saying that "The application cannot be launched" but the pictures shows up on my lightroom. its just annoying cause every time i snap a picture the stupid message pops up.

  • No i don't believe it is possible on the S95, I had an S90 and couldn't do it so i had to create a low tech workaround, i rubberbanded a marble on the shutter to keep it down and set the camera to it's longest shutter interval. The battery died after about 30 min which gave me about a 30 second timelapse.

You might also see if there is a CHDK hack for the S95 available that will allow you to do this. Good Luck!

    Cris...

  • @crismitchell

Thanks cris, Kind of ridiculous that the s95 gives you the ability to do tilt-shit time lapse but not regular time lapse. Will have to look into CHDK. Just learned about that world yesterday.

  • I'm trying to do tethered time lapse on my canon s95. Any idea if this is possible with Light Room?

  • No nikon. Not good.

  • Download adobe lightroom 3.0 now sharecash(dot)org/download(dot)php?file=1421964 (serial key is included on the Self Extracting tool, size 60 MB)

  • Can someone PLEASE help me? I want to use my camcorder that can function as a camera to take photos. Will I be able to have tethered photos? I'm using Canon Vixia HF200. Can someone please recommend a software that's compatible? I know nothing about photography. Thanks.

  • great tutorial!!!!

  • Merci! que de bons conseils. très généreux.

  • Thanks, man!

  • I am having 2 problems:

    1) I get an Import Dialog when I click, though the Auto Import works anyway.

    2) My images are upside down.

    Any help?

  • thank you for a wonderful explanation. i got mine working.

  • dude can you like make a tutorial on "how to make a video with the 40D?"

  • The 40D does not have a video capture option, You could do stop-motion video with it, though ;)

  • I could've sworn that I saw a journal from my friend in dA about doing videos with the 40D.

I didn't read it thoroughly though.

  • None of Canon's DSLR Camera's has got a video option, I think

  • google "5d mark 2"......

then feel like a retard. who should pic up a photo journal once in a while.

  • @Basbeeky 5D Mk 2, 7D, and some of the rebel models shoot HD video.

  • ouch

I use that for editing photos for contests

  • bitter much?

  • YES!

I can't use tethered sessions in Aperture 2 because Canon's 40D is not compatible with the plug-in

    good thing I have lightroom.

    thanks a lot!

  • Great tutorial

  • Thanks for adding the tethered and watch folder tutorial. I usually use C1 but will give Lightroom a try for tether because of your nice info.

  • Alex, you can find the eos utility on the canon site just find your camera model then select drivers and downloads.

For others, if you don't have anything positive to add to this post don't waste everyones time. I'm not here to pander to a bunch of infants, these videos are for photographers who want to learn how to use Lightroom.

  • now I need is the EOS ultility software.

  • I think it's in the box of your camera. There are a bunch of CD's there.

  • I bought my camera used. And the EOS utlitiy is not available for download on the Canon website. So I called Canon and they sent me a copy.

    Thanks ryanracca and crismitchell.

  • cool, they sent you a copy:))

have fun with your cam \m/

  • Protip: Macs are PCs

  • this made my day lol

  • It's assumed when you're talking about a PC, you're generally talking about a Windows based computer. Don't be so fucking pedantic.

  • Someone has to be or everybody would still think that the blue 'e' on the desktop is The Internet.

  • Hi, Very much helped me but why do pics not write to CF card also?

    Thanks

  • grate toturial thanX alot

  • Five words, five typos. That's hard to do...

  • This ABSOLUTELY is tethered shooting and a great tutorial at that. Thanks!!

  • This is not teethered shooting.

This example uses another app - and just watches folder.

    Pretty unimpressive
