Can we just clear one thing up plz? The Gunpowder Plot did not intend to get rid of a monarchy style government. The leader of the plot, Robert Catesby, wanted to assassinate King James who was not favourbale to Catholics even though his wife, Queen Anne, was a Catholic. They intended to seize one of James and Anne's daughters, Princess Elizabeth, and bring her up a Catholic and instal her as Queen therefore keeping the monarchy. This was therefore regicide, not revolution.
