Another funny scene. After the "fake" virus was anounced, there was a scene where a whole bunch of people were waiting at a bus stop. One guy was coughing a lot and the other people there were looking at him as if he has the virus, then he spits into a puddle of water near the curb. A car or bus (can't remember) drives by and hits the puddle, splashing the water onto all the people at the bus stop as they all scream. That was so random and funny, lol. You have to see it to get it.

It's completely obvious for everyone to see they are totally overreacting and exaggerating, that's why it's funny. There is almost a cringe-worthy overflow of emotions, but if you're aware of how much of a genius director Bong Joon Ho and actor Song Kang Ho has demonstrated themselves to be in the past, you can appreciate this bitter, tongue-in-cheek humor a lot more.

I don't think it's an over-reaction. It may be a cultural thing. If you notice, every family is engaged in collective mourning. Most asian cultures are collective cultures, so maybe it may seem like it's an over reaction to us, but to them, it seems like the proper thing to do.

It definitely is. I'm Korean, and while collective mourning IS a part of our culture, the actors put on an ever so subtle humorous touch to their expressions and dialogue (all 4 members of the family are renowned actors in Korea who are at the top of their game) that really is apparent only to Korean audiences. I watched this movie in Korea in fact, and the whole theater broke out into quiet laughter when this scene played out. One more reason why Bong Joon Ho is a cinematic genius.
