  • As a former 11B (US Army) this sums it all up .......

  • @TheHashomer

Thanks for your Infantry service Brother. You got all that good training at Benning I'm sure.

  • if you have to ask pick up a rifle and see . chipped beef on toast get it together fuck fight or hit the fence .

  • @3cardpokeher

SOS= Shit On A Shingle, good when you are hungry enough

  • WHAT IS HE EATING?

  • good video

  • Man, this movie hits home. I couldn't handle it the first time I watched it. I used to take for granted all the veterans who were in previous conflicts, and were screwed up in the head. Until I became someone haunted at night by things I've seen, however, I wouldn't even begin to compare myself to anyone who went through WWI and II or Korea and so on. All I know is this speech must have been written by someone who saw war first hand, I mean..dead on. No one at home understands.

  • I'll tell you what a hoot is, a hoot is Eric Bana playing an American good ole boy. lol

  • @CNCTEMATIC Why's that? He did a fine job at the role if you ask me, can't even tell he's not American.

  • @OlderG0ds yeah sure he's a great actor. the role just jars big-time with what he's like in real life. but hey, pretty much anyone from an english speaking country can act american and hit the region pretty well (eg English toff Hugh Lawrie as House, Glasgow girl Kelly Macdonald as West Texas gal in No Country for Old Men). We all grew up with sesame street, you see :)

  • @CNCTEMATIC Must be a lot easier to act American than British or Australian. There's definitely a lot of times I think the guy is American, Hugh Laurie being one of them I didn't know for a while.

  • @LK5150360- Hooah brother, I'm joining the service when I get older :)

  • I know him, not the actor, who the actor played.

  • @TrueBelieversUnite actually?

  • Best part of the movie :-)

  • The best line of the movie......

  • hoot fucking slammed that shit home...i came home on leave, amidst a bunch of pussies who wouldnt dare do what i had been doing since before oif even kicked off, and they all asked me why I did it....I told them flat out, because they wouldnt and couldnt. nobody said shit else after that. semper fi, hooyah, and hooah to all those out there still putting in work and doing what the softies back home wont do. this veterans respect goes to each one of you.

  • I felt like this was more than just a personal and literal sense of what he was explaining, but also an allegorical understanding of war and humanity itself. All we have is each other.

  • so true Hoots..you said it best..of course this is a mix of SFC Hooten and many 1st SFOD-Delta..operators..this people have done what I tried and fail at..this guys know the real meaning of Airborne in Bragg...all the way guys!.enjoy the ride.

  • In my opinion this is the best part of the movie

  • song's Leave No Man Behind, by Hans Zimmer, pretty darn good choice for the title of his composition ain't it? (:

  • Best scene in any war movie. Those of us who have been to war all know this to be true

  • Who's the asshole who disliked this?

  • Thats how soldiers get thru and do the things they do. Like he said its all about the man next to you. I plan to join the United States Army once im old enough about a year or so to go for me. But its all about that brother ship these men have with eachother. The people who you mite dislike or stick your nose up at in the normal society you are now putting presure on their bleeding leg wound because they would do the same for you. thats real brother hood.

  • @hippyginger ye im 14 and after about 30 sec of think about what "because of the man next to you" it was so clear to see why ppl join

  • best seen in the movie best quote ever why?????? because my uncle is in the war and that is exactly how he is he doesnt say a thing

  • i love this screen i am in the military and i get ask the same question while i am over here in iraq....and i said the same thing before i saw this movie,,,,its hard for most people to understand

  • what is he eating?

  • damn i always though he was saying "Its about me next?"

  • The name of the song ?¡ any???

  • he fuck u woo1693

  • @Cowboysrule05 aha didn't get the balls to reply to me? guess what? grows some! hahahah

  • Actually I think it's "men" and not "man" :>

  • Hoot/Bana... Quality

  • anyone know the song in this scene?

  • Hooten is a war junkie.

  • i dont understand because im not apart of the military YET . after college ... but i cant wait to fill what he feels in this scene ... best quote from any movie

  • no one wins in a war unless no one dies. if someone dies in my eyes we lost

  • he speak out of my soul

  • The man Hoot is based on is John "Mace" Macejunas.

  • they wont understand...they wont understand why we do it. they wont understand it's about the men next to yah.

  • whats the backround sound called

  • @THE1STPLAY3R " leave no man behind "

  • zeker vette scene..!

deze film heeft meedere goede scenes..

wat ook een mooie is: als dominick pilla doodgaat, de muziek speelt in deze scene echt een mooie rol..

  • The speech its self is powerful, but with the song its simply mind blowing.

  • Only someone who has been in combat can understand.

  • @cbiwv Very true. You can't explain it. It's not a video game or movie. It just happens. When you have been through it...it changes you forever. You will never again look at things the same way. You will always be ready and never will you forget. I was once asked by a doctor, "Why do you think you were so unfortunate to see and do these things." My response took a minute but was...Why would you call me unfortunate? I now know what life is and what it means because of it. Then I walked out.

  • @cbiwv so true

  • I've always wondered...what is he eating?

  • rice

  • they wont understand

  • i was jus thinkin bout this scene today and it is my favorite speech of the movie

  • Those 2 are my favarite charactors in the movie Black Hawk Down and my other favarite charactors are Master Sargent Gary Gordon and Sargent First Class Randall Shughart R.I.P. Heroes Live Long and Prosper

  • No bastard won a war by dying for his country , he won the war by making the other bastard die for his

  • @woo1693 wow. dude you totally ripped off patton. you just mouthed his exact words and your getting creds for it.

  • @luvjb95 ummm no duh?

  • @luvjb95 stop whining everyone knows its from patton thanks for the tips. If you are angry about my thumbs up, why don't you get your own line than just telling other people that they ripped off another one. And 1 more thing, who cares?

  • @woo1693 If he didn't kill that man, he would have killed him, and how dare you insult our troops, or any troops, you would never be man enough to do any of this. Go die in hole holl asswipe

  • @gta4life112 hey dumbass, ever heard of patton? ever heard of quoting someone you dumbfuck? go cry to your mommy and get your fucking facts straight you moron

  • @gta4life112 and I would never be a man enough to do any of this? hey dumbass as a matter of fact I served in the South Korean army guarding the fucking DMZ, have you had fucking commies pointing their AKs at you every day constantly for 2 years? have you even served anywhere? Go fuck yourself

  • ur going back in?

  • this is such an epic ending to such an epic movie!!!

  • ur forgetting we were soilders:P

  • this movie and saving private ryan are a couple of the best war movies

  • "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to

visit violence on those who would harm us."

    -George Orwell

  • @sniperking23435 or winston churchill

  • @sniperking23435

    fuckin aye man. fuckin aye

    god bless the soldiers.

  • "There are only two kinds of people that truly understand Marines: Marines and the

enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion."

    -General William Thornson

  • Freedom is not free, but the US Marine Corps will pay for most fo your share!

  • He only talks 3 times like this and its all to Eversman. Before they leave for the mission and Eversman asks him what he thinks. Then after when Eversman and the Medic cant save Smith, (I think thats his name) and then now. Not to sound like an Ass but you left out when he says its monday a whole new week. Hoote is my favorite.

  • one hell of a scene

  • "Why?They won't understand , They won't understand it's about the men next to you"

    No one gets left behind!

  • Your going back in theres still men out there god damn When I go home people ask me hey you why do you do it man are some kind of war junky i wont say a god damn word why they wont under stand they wont under stand why we do it they dont under stand its about the men next to you thats it thats all it is.

  • very powerfull speach ..

  • so true.... this was the most motivating this I heard... and y im enlisting and signing my ranger contract

  • right !!!

it`s one of the best scenes of the film

  • Hmm.. great scene love it

  • The book, and this movie encompass all of my militaristic ideals, folding it all into one big picture. This is my philosophy, and i live by it. For those of you that absolutely love the movie, read the book also. Very great read, i loved every page of it.

  • to all you military soldiers, take care and god bless

  • @xxxnewbreedxxx Thanks very much, it always means a lot.

  • I swear, I sit through this movie every time in eager anticipation of this scene. The kind of camaraderie you experience in the military is like nothing else on earth.

    HOOAH!

  • Hoot had the best lines in the film. Aside from Shughart & Gordon, Hoot is another fave of mine. I know that if he was in that helicopter, he would have went w/ Shughart and Gordon. Why? Because "...it's about the men next to ya. And that's it. That's all it is." This scene is poignant not only because of what Hoot said, but everytime someone was about to die, that music started to play in the background. To me it suggested his death. Man I love this movie. HEROES FOREVER! The whole lot of them.

  • Hoot was based on a actual soldier who served until 2001. He is alive and well today!

  • that role is inspired by me !

  • Too bad that they are trying to do the right thing while their government sends the off to phony wars. If only they knew why they were there half the time.

  • im a senior in high school and am going to west point next year, and all my friends are like asking the exact same thing, "why are you doing this? you want to be in the army? you're so stupid man why would u ever want to go to west point"

not the same as going out into a hot zone in somalia but yall get my point

  • Does anyone know the name of the song in the background.

  • Leave No Man Behind by Hans Zimmer

  • Just go look for the soundtrack for Blackhawk Down..lots of awesome Hans Zimmer tracks.

  • not every u.s. soldier is like hoot or eversman don't forget it!! i remember you to the iraq....

but the soldiers who are like hoot, and not only the one in the u.s. army, have my respect, too! Because they aren't fighting for money, THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR HOME AND THEIR FAMILY!! Every soldier there who fights for his family earns respect from that people who don't do the same

  • U.S soldiers have my respect and yes i WOULD take 10 bullets for a U.S soldier

  • Ya'll wouldn't take 1 bullet for a U.S. soldier or you either would have enlisted or shot yourself for the sake of humanity.

  • safe

  • i would take every bullet fired in this movie and every bullet fired in WW2 (WORLD WAR 2)

  • i would gladly take 10 bullets for every 1 in the U.S millitary dosent matter to me your white, black, purpal, grey, orange whatever it dosent matter to me, you keep my ass safe when i sleep so i'll make sure you get out of iraq dosent matter if i have to take 60 bullets i'll make sure the troops in iraq get the fuck out of ther. AMERICA MOTHER FUCKERS

  • I'd take 70 bullets!!!

  • Would you really take 10 bullets for them? IF you do, then we need people liek you in britain. Virtually no support for our Armed Forces, just hatred.

  • unlike the democrats im proud of my country.

ask for 11 bang bang your recruiter will know ;)

  • for all u demorcrats this is y republicans believe in war

  • It is about the man next to you, u watch his back, he watch yours, or you both die together.

  • I served thereattached to 10th mountain, william fichtners character in the movie well his name was sanderson, no such delta operator existed he was based on paul howe, just like ewan mcgregor's character name doesnt exist he was based on someone else, john stebbins, the military wanted his name changing for the movie to hide the shame of what he had done back in america back in 2000 i think it was

  • When I go home, people ask me, 'Hey Hoot, why do you do it, man? Why? You some kind of war junkie or somethin'?' I won't say a goddamn thing. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand, it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is

  • Love this part, this movie rocks, got so many good actors, Eric Bana, William Fitchner, Sam Shepard, Love this movie :]

  • William Fichtner* always get that wrong, hehe :p

  • Is the song "The man next to ya?

  • i agree 100%. best scene from movie

  • ooorah

  • best part of all...

  • HOOAH!!!

  • Eric Bana is awesome in this movie. And William Fichtner too! Love this movie...

  • best part of the movie.

    fuck the politics. [:

  • If you like the philosophy behind this scene, I recommend you get "Warriors". It's a two-part TV show about the war in Bosnia (1993). Many veterans of the war praised it for its realism. There isn't much fighting in it, but it's more about what those men had to go trough and how they dealt with it. And partly, it's also about how many civilians don't understand any of it.

  • or is it the soldiers who dont understand it?

  • When I go home, people ask me, 'Hey Hoot, why do you do it, man? Why? You some kind of war junkie or somethin'?' I won't say a goddamn thing. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand, it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is

  • Oorah! or Hooah! Lol. I'm a Marine and I gotta tell ya, you and SEALs are probobly the only people who can rival us. I did a Joint Op. in Ramadi with Rangers and you guys are some hardcore dudes. You guys could serve on my fire team anyday. Semper Fi! or RLTW!

  • Delta is definitley more badass than Rangers. Like they are the elite of the United States Army. Go troops!

  • I know. They are badass. I was talkin up the Rangers because I never knew that besides us [Marines] there were other branches of the US military that are also very proud of their history. I learned alot from an army captain once.

  • lol...you must not know much because the Rangers are apart of the Army and the main branches of the Military are: Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force...

  • Hey fucker, I know what the rangers break off of. Nowhere in my comment did i say that. I did say I was a US Marine though so that right there proves I know a hell of alot mkore than just the 5 branches.

  • lol..whatever you say buddy..

  • Man represent the Army. I think that you need to the way it can't reach its recruiting goals. So don't talk down to somebody who has fought for freedom, just like you have.

  • atleast uve got the guts to go to war unlike him who just talks smack

  • he atleast hes got the guts to go to war

  • i've been to iraq....and im proudly going to afganistan in a couple of months...so dont be telling me that i dont have the guts to go to war...

  • srry no disrespect wen im 21 im going to join the army i respect u

  • but most delta soldiers are rangers to

  • lol you got it all wrong.. the Army Rangers are the elite of the Army.. but the Delta Force and Army Rangers are closely alike

  • No they aren't...well they are kind of. Army Rangers are considered an elite force, but the Green Beret are the true elite of the Army. Rangers and Delta are nothing alike. Delta Force are basically chosen from Green Beret and Seal teams. They are the elite of the elite. In this movie you even see it...most of those Army Rangers hadn't even had combat experience.

  • lol there is no true and untrue elite...its just either you are elite or your not...Army rangers and Green beret are both elite

  • yeah the deltas that went into mogadishu probobly did have combat experience since they go all over the place all the time

  • i love this part of the movie

  • I still dont understand

  • this scene is great but whats the tittle of the music under it?

  • this video should have like 100 million views

  • People think tht because i want to join the army when im 17 im dumb because its all about listing to orders and killing but they dont understand and im sure many more dont understand why we do it this vid isnt just a movie but reality

  • See ya in the sandbox.

    2/75 Ranger Regiment

  • Look out for my cousin Brandon. He's n Korea right now and returning to Ft.Benning next year to Ranger School. Thanks

  • I'll watch out for him. Promise.

    RLTW

    SSG Mike M.

  • ATW

  • Come again?

  • ALL THE WAY

  • HOOAH

    RLTW

  • hooah!

  • lol, you dont understand either until you serve your time. Good luck though

  • fucking A, man. I'm going to be a marine.

  • Russel Krowe was suposed to play hoot,i'm glad they gave this role to Eric Bana

  • russel crowe...too old

    erics perfect

  • well , the "it's monday" is because monday is the best time to quit a job since you just finished the weekend ,

  • What up with that "It's monday"-thing?

A new start? A new opportunity? Or what?

  • The mission started sunday.

  • true....i can never understand.

  • this movie is what made me follow Erik Bana -

  • yeah i support ur statement

  • HollyWood or not, these lines are very accurate. Many people cannot understand what the men and women of our Armed Forces, of what ANY Armed Forces go through each day.

  • agreed

  • God Bless American Soldiers.

    Thanks guys!

  • Im goigng be like Hoot when I grow up:D

  • All time fav quote.

  • Irene!

  • It's about he men next to you, thats it, thats all it is.

I don't know of anything that could describe more of it what it truly comes down to.

The men next to you!!God bless these guys. I'm sure glad there on our side!!

  • I love Eric Bana :) and Josh.

  • no one thats never been in combat will ever truly know.

  • Yes and no. What about Abraham Lincoln who was full of grief when his son died. Of course, they are all heroes.

  • see now thats semantics. lincoln wasnt there with his son or the men that he fought along side. parents feel a whole different kind of respect/pain from what happens to their kids.

  • "Hey, we started a new week, its Monday!"

  • Best movie scene. Ever

  • So fucking awesome, one of the greatest war movies ever!

  • its 100% true
