  • THAT'S what i was missing - the two higher c's (1:09) and the "bridging" (1:42)- could not figure out by listening by ear copycatting.

  • It's actually pretty easy to play for a kid look at my videos I suppose I could add video and not just audio well I'll see if that gets some hits otherwise great tourtial I don't exactly play it like that but...

  • Up to your usual standard sir!

  • Thank you, sir.

  • At 1:18, what did he mean by "always something on the B"? Or did I hear him wrong?

  • Oh, wait, nevermind. Just realized he said "beat". :)

  • @pianojohn113 this is by far the best sounding piano tutorial i have seen exactly how paul plays it great job

  • @cyprus2943 Glad you liked it, thanks. :-)

  • @pianojohn113 : Ditto. This is my next project!

  • NICE!!! :D thanks for the tutorial :)

  • Coordinating the right with the left hand. I fail to notice in this video for example, if I have to touch the left and right at the same time (an example) or if you left and second right after. The Times, can it be?. I understand sir. Thank you very much for everything!

  • @nahu4ever The coordination of the left and righthands will come easily with a bit of practice. In general, the chords are played with the RH and LH together, and individual notes are usually played separately. If you can't reach the notes (which is very common), you can leave the top note of the chord off of the RH, and leave out either note of the LH octave. I hope that helps!

  • Thank you very much for answering my message, sir. The problem is that I am a beginner, and I learned the intro in another video tutorial. But seeing yours, that certainly sounds like the original. I'm practicing with your video, but I can not reach the notes, maybe I'm missing it more fluently. And another problem I have, not only with his tutorial, but in general.

  • Already, many thanks for everything! A big greeting from Argentina.

  • Hello sir. How are you?. I am very grateful to share with us all your great videos. Certainly 'The Beatles' was and is the best band of all time. I have a question, through the first 00:20 seconds, is an alternative way to play the intro?, Could explain what notes you play? ..

Paul in his live concerts, plays an alternative? or you explain (the second)? .I have a suggestion, if you could explain again this video is slower, and perhaps from a different angle to fully appreciate what it touches.

  • @nahu4ever There are easier ways to play the intro, mostly using few notes on the chords. Are you having difficulty reaching the notes, or is there something else that's giving you problems on it? Greetings to you in Argentina, by the way!

  • Just got my first keyboard after many years.

Your instructions are so eay to follow.

    Thanks for posting these vids

  • @cjr0756 Very glad it helped you out! :-)

  • @pianojohn113 Sir! Greetings from India! This is a superb tutorial for the Let It Be intro! But sir, there is a technical problem I'm facing here i.e. the piano on which you are teaching this tutorial has the F key as its lowermost key, while the Yamaha keyboard I employ has only till the C key as its lowermost key by default, so a total of 7 lowermost keys (F,G,A,B and also the black ones) are missing. As a result, I face difficulty in playing some of the chords. Can u plz help me?????

  • @metrockpop Yes, that can be a problem, but the way around that is to just play single notes in the left hand instead of octaves. You can play the small F-F#-G fill too - just raise the notes that I played by one octave and play them there. I hope that helps - Greetings to you in India!

  • which piano do you have? and how old are you ? dont mean to be nosey but...im a kid...:D

  • @trense13 I have a Boston GP-163 piano. I'm 47 years old, but sometimes act like a kid, so no worries!

  • @pianojohn113 oh cooll...my dads 47 too...only he doesnt like music and doesn't know how to make a youtube account...:P and thanks for the lesson...:)

  • @pianojohn113: you explain really well! Thanks so much. Do you think it's silly trying to learn this if I am a beginner?

  • @Gerdisan I think this is an ideal song for a beginner. Sometimes the octaves can be a stretch for people who aren't used to them, but otherwise it's a great tune to get started. Give it a shot, and let me know how it goes!

  • can you show how to play the easy intro ?

  • @muffyandfluffytv I probably won't put up a video on the easy one, but there are sheets available on a few different websites that show how to play it.

  • this seems to be in a different key than the original song

  • @KyleJordanHenry It's the original key.

  • Im cnfused onwhen to hit the sustain pedal, my piano is lousy and has lots of reverb so i usually sit cross legged and use no pedals, but on real piano when i playthis, the transitions soundawful

  • @corbinamondo The best thing to do is to hold the sustain on each chord, then release a press again on each change of chord. It takes some practice, but after a short time it will become intuitive and you won't need to think about it at all.

  • @pianojohn113 im 13 years old as well and im trying to get this song down perfect well i have small hands but i manage to switch from a 4 note c chord to a 4 note g rapidly except i cant seem to keep on beat the left hand where its going into the g from the c and i can play the 2 other chords after the c and g chords also with 4 notes but i forgot what there called lol

  • @ayberkdude Remember, you can always switch to 3-note chords if the transitions are too difficult.

  • thank you so much!!!!! this is GREAT!!!!! :D

  • I'm only 10 so i have lil hands i gotta do the easy 1 but good video :)

  • @MitchConor19 Yes, you can just play the lower note in the left hand instead of octaves (leave the top note off). In the right hand, you can leave either the upper or the lower note of the octave off, whichever you prefer.

  • @pianojohn113 thanks a lot ... i'm learning this song right now ... you'r amazing !!! thank you again :)

  • John thanks a lot for all your videos, they have taught me so many songs: "Imagine", "Hey Jude", and now this one. You really are a great teacher.

  • when you go to the G, at 2:05, how you use de pedal?

  • @MartimRockass Let up on the pedal at the F-F# "fill" notes, then press the pedal when you hit the G chord. Release and depress again when you go to the Am chord.

  • @pianojohn113 *the pedal; and thanks for all john!

  • Do you have a Video to show which Piano Chords are which? I only just got mine yesterday, and I don't have the money to take lessons from the local Music Store. (It's a very good one. Looks extremely small on the outside, but there's a basement which leads underground for much more room.) I've only learned one thing so far, "Piano Cat". But that's only I learned that by counting the white notes from right to left and writing them down.

  • @DeathForRomance I don't have any specific videos covering that, but I do know there are many good websites that show the different chord structures. Once you know the names of the notes and the chords, playing songs becomes much easier.

  • @pianojohn113 I can't learn by reading, I need to hear something to understand it. But once I have comprehension of that thing, it'll start making sense to me on paper. I've tried looking it up, and no one has anything I can do.

  • @DeathForRomance learn notes and triads and everything becomes clearer triads are major traids are the three notes that make up a particular chord so if he says a G chord the traids will show you you need to play a g, b, and d all together to make a g chord so you can use your own variations it has made learning other instruments 30 times easier I'm using my guitar theory to learn keyboard. My teacher rules. Good Luck

  • @DeathForRomance Sorry i meant triads are major notes not major triads

  • Great cover it was close, the first chords are RH: EGC, BDG, CEA, CDA, CEG, BDG, FA, EG, DF, CEG. LH: C, E, F, F#,G( little fill between the C and G chords) G, A,F, C, G, F( Lower octave) F (LH STOPS)

and play in lower octaves as well for bass notes like you are.

  • @CoIeStones Yes, those are the same chords I'm playing, just different notes.

  • @pianojohn113 You still miss a couple things, I was justing poitinting one out, still a great cover

  • nice job...when I get my keyboard out I gotta try it this way...sounds much better....I usually do the root and 5th of the chords in my left hand...but the octaves plus the one note sound A LOT better.....amazing musicians the beatles

  • what happened to the other parts?

    please put them back up

  • @NighttSwimmming There is only one other part, and it's still up.

  • You mean "Faul plays it"

  • Is there any way you would give a tutorial for Neil diamond love on the rocks?

  • very nice, keep 'em coming. I am teaching my 7 year old this one. Thanks, rb6strings

  • @RB6STRINGS That's great, always good to know that the young kids are learning Beatles songs!

  • @pianojohn113 Can you help us with the second part of Beck's Where its at?

  • @RB6STRINGS You mean the electric paino riff?

  • @pianojohn113 Yes!

  • @pianojohn113 We have the first part down, but the second part is harder to hear what is going on. It is easier to play though, perhaps an E chord, where the lyrics say "two turntables and a microphone". I am teaching my son Robbie to play that now. I bet you can hear through all the other stuff to get the essence of the electric piano. Any help with Beck would be greatly appreciated. If you feel like it, check out my song on you tube, "A Lover Takes the Fall"

  • @RB6STRINGS I'll have to listen to that riff again, it's been a long time. I'll check out your song too, thanks for the heads up. :-)

  • thanks!

  • You are amazing! I have taken piano lessons for about a few months now and you are my inspiration.

My goal is to be able to play some of your songs like you.

    Thank you for the videos!

  • could you please put the note on screen? im bad at seeing what notes there are... :/ but thanks! i learned "hey jude" watching your videos:)D

  • i would epically high five you if i had the chance

  • great videos any chance doing a simple stride tutorial thanks

  • notice his name, maybe John Lennon isn't dead

  • Life goal:

Learn ALL The Beatles songs on their respective instruments (piano/guitar)

Thank for helping me on my journey to reach this goal.

  • @plokmijn47 Wow. Thats impressive! How far have you got?

  • @goodfrojonny

    bout 20 - 30% done

  • @plokmijn47 GOOD EFFORT!!

  • Thanks for the tutorial, your amazing. Could you do one of Billy Joel, "Ain't No Crime" that would be great. thanks again for all your tutorials.

  • Where's the name of the notes? Those are EXTREMELY helpful.

  • John you are amazing - but you probably already knew that

  • i dont know how to play piano could you teach me

or put it in your next videos thank and love that beetles let it be you play awsome

  • Can you do a video on "A Time For Us"?

  • do you think you could show us how to play bohemian rhapsody?

  • i like when you write the notes on screen :)

  • Hi John,

I love your videos, and continue to be amazed at the world you have opened up for me in terms of playing keyboard, so thankyou.

I have to point out though that there there is no left hand playing the C with the thumb after the first right hand Cnchord in any of thereleased versions of LIB that I have - and I think that musical 'space' created between the two times that the right hand plays the C chord, is what makes the intro. so atmospheric.

All the best, and thanks again,

  • @drutgat2 You could be right on the LH, I haven't listened closely to it for quite a while. But certainly, if you like the sound of it that way, by all means play it with just the RH there. The great freedom in music is tailoring a song to fit your own tastes and standards.

  • Hi @drutgat2,

Really no C after the chord? I can hear them. Please have another listen..... ;-)

  • first off i loved the video i can actually play it now. i never liked the "learn the piano in 3 seconds but dont be nearly as good as an average player". and second you sound like chevy chase. which is pretty sick.

  • DUDE TY a lot never got it to sound like paul until this

  • Truly superb, everything about your teaching (AND your playing) is so inspiring, thanks for sharing your talent and for all your hard work.

  • you are a great teacher. you break it down and make it simple for us. thank you! can i make a request, can you also do a tutorial by "i love lucy". it's one of my favorite tv shows. thanks!

  • i really want to learn this song... so i can play at my school's talent show

  • Thanks again for another fantastic video.

Im subscribed to your videos and I havent seen any Radiohead songs on your list but you should make a tutorial for karma police

  • Great stuff - many thanks

  • I'm glad I can trust you to be accurate, unlike many of the tutorials you find out there. =)

Also, a request - if it's not too much trouble, I'd love it if you put the notes on the screen more often like you do in Hey Jude. That was perfect.

  • @doodlmnstrxD I think I started adding the notes on-screen with the Hey Jude video, actually. All the ones I've posted since then have them, and I may add them to the older ones if I can find the time. Glad you like the vids, thanks!

  • wow, this is perfect, thank you! BTW, intro=1st, 2nd, and 3rd versus

completley accurate and amazing thanks, now I know most of the song!!! :)

    (post a chorus tutorial plz!!!!!!)

  • May heaven BLESS you more for doing all these tutorials!

  • Thank you for the tutorials!! Im a 33 year old father and self employed, and to be truthful, I dont have the time to take lessons and really learn the piano. Ive played guitar for 15 years so I know about music and chord relations, but learning songs and doing all that is just too much for me at this time, so its nice to have someone like you break it all down for us and give us the easy way to learn.

    Thank you!

  • @CONCRETE13 i like ur COD comment LOL

  • Very nice man, 5/5 liked subbed, could you maybe write it up? or give link for sheet of music please, and very good.

  • @llToml I don't have a link for sheet music, but there are some digital music websites that might have it.. don't know how accurate the transcriptions are, though.

  • im having trouble keeping the beat

    any suggestions?

  • @TheBubbleTease Is there a particular part of the intro that's giving you trouble on the rhythm, or is it the entire intro?

  • @TheBubbleTease dont do music... its not something that comes easy and for those who r talanted not something come hard ;)

  • @TheBubbleTease get a metronome!

  • @TheBubbleTease Buy a metronome and adjust it so its as fast as the song. Then play the chords on the beat...

  • I WASTE MY TIME TO SUBSCRIBE noteflight and score IS NOT PRESENT!!!!

  • Any advice for a noob begginer like myself?

  • @cast390 Yes, just work slowly, and be patient with yourself. If the octaves are too much of a reach, just play the single notes until you're comfortable with them.

  • the score is not found on the link!

  • @iBaloney I'll check it, they may have taken it down.

  • this is my favourite Beatles song

  • i need to learn this!

  • Thank you sooooo much your vids have basically made my piano skill, also i would not have started making "stop-Music" videos

  • @EukalaSaurusRex I just saw it, very cool!

  • Sadly, although I have my own 100 year old upright, I played this on my microKORG synthesizer first, except with a synthesizer patch and not enough polyphony, it sounded more like "Breakfast in america"

  • @Cds56 lol, well, there's nothing wrong with "Breakfast In America" either... :-)

  • hey i just finished editing my vid of this go watch, ill have it uploaded in like 5 minutes

  • Wow could u go any slower?! I just skipped to the end cuz it was taking forever then I tried to get it down but I couldn't see what notes you were playing! Man I could smoke this guy playing piano

  • You said you have a huge backlog of "dinner music" songs ... think you could do a tutorial on any of those? thanks!

  • amazing goof job have u got the corus up as well? I can't find it if u do

  • wow thank you soooo much! you r such a great teacher! i learned this in 10 mins!!!

  • Very good

  • @pianojohn113 Awesome! Thanks much

  • I don't know where to put this but could you do a tutorial for The End of the Innocence - Don Henley? Thanks!

  • Really helpful video. Check out my version too!

  • damn it i just have an electrical piano and it cant touch more than 4 notes at time and i love piano and beatles songs and i cant play this beautiful song , but thanks for the vid, it it's really good if i had a really piano i could play this song with your video.

  • gawwwddd what are the keys for the 9th chord in the right hand?

  • @Keyboardguy99 Which section are you referring to? If you give me the time stamp on the video I'll be able to help you better.

  • I'm just peeping into the big piano show, and I'm learning it all by youtube and myself and stuff... So I can say I'm not really good, but I enjoy playing the piano, and I like it even more, when I can play songs like this.

Thank you for making this possible, I had a great time, and I will enjoy it when I can play it deacently. (haha, crappy english, sorry :) )

Anyway, Thank you so much, you are a good teacher and a great pianist. TX!!!

  • thanks, this helped a lot :)

  • From Spain a greeting to you, good job!

PS: Could you playing All My Loving, please? I would appreciate.

  • @ferranbenavente from America what the heck

  • @pianojohn113 your welcome! you teach it really well and its easy to follow! Keep it up!

  • Thank you so much dude you have taught me how to play a LOT of song

    God bless

  • the only thing I missed about this vid was the fact that the notes were written above the piano, even so, it was very helpful

  • @MeritCullen Yes, the earlier videos did not have the notes on screen, unfortunately. Sorry about that!

  • Hi, so I think this is a GREAT lesson, but try as I might I can't hear Paul rolling between the C and G chords. Just wondering how you knew that, or if there is somewhere I can hear it easily. : D Thank you again very much for the lesson.

  • @trailblazer225 I don't think he did it on every version that was recorded.. The film version was different from the single, and there were a couple of different album versions as well. The roll was on one of those, but I can't recall which one!

  • @pianojohn113 Thank you. I went and checked a couple of other versions and found it after reading this comment. I really appreciate your attention to detail. : D

  • It's kinda annoying that you talk alot about the easy stuff and almost nothing about other things.

  • Your videos are awesome :D I never really understood how to play let it be until now!

  • this guys is awesome!

  • this video is lacking in right side sound

  • You're tutorials have helped me learn Hey Jude, Let it Be, Fun Riffs and Vienna - Billy Joel - thank you very much.

I have been looking for a good tutorial for 'Life on Mars' by David Bowie as it is such a great song. However, there aren't any!

I would deeply appreciate it if you could consider teaching this magnificent piece on youtube, as I and many, many others believe YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER ON YOUTUBE.

    Once again, many thanks.

  • @000paramountor000 Thanks! Glad you like the vids. I'll probably post Life On Mars eventually.. I just don't play it that often, so it needs some brushing up on my part.

  • @pianojohn113 I hope you do! it's an amazing song and it would be great if you could post a tutorial. I just started learning and i can already play hey jude and imagine thanks to you. You are a god! *bows down*

  • @pianojohn113 Thank you.

Please can you let me know when you are thinking about making a tutorial for Life on Mars.

  • I just wanted to say that your videos are awesome. I got a piano from a guy at work a few weeks ago, but I didnt really now how to get started playing. I learned a few basic chords, read some on the internet then I found your videos and man they really kick started my piano skills. Keep up the good work!

  • Wow this is one of the best tutorials I've seen. You don't treat us like if we don't know anything about piano but you don't rush through it, and I can tell you're good and you know your songs because it sounds exactly like Paul.

    thanks a million

  • 3:09

"That's nice. That's actually quite nice"

    hahahhahaha it does sound nice

  • @SebAlva Sometimes you just stumble on a nice way to play a chord! :-)

  • oh you're so awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos!

  • My hands are too small :) My pinky always hits the B in the first C I'll give my hand sometime to grow and come back lol.

  • @himynameisben95 Understandable. If you can't reach the octave notes yet, just play the lower C note and don't worry about playing them both.

  • what kind of piano do you have it sounds awesome

  • @LinkMaster159951 It's a Boston GP-163.

  • thanks for posting this! youre a good teacher and i find learning like this much easier and more natural than reading notes. i love the beatles and this is such a beautiful song :)

  • i always find music sheet's easy! donno y :s

is there any way u can send me the sheets for it if u have it?

  • @chennaprateep I don't have the sheets available to send, sorry.. You should be able to find it pretty easily online, though, at one of the digital music websites.

  • thank you!

  • You Sir, are bad-ass.

I don't have a piano in front of me, if I did it wouldn't matter that much, because I don't know how to play. At all. And, not being a musician, with almost zero recognition and comprehension of your reference to the musical notation, I was virtually "lost" from beginning to end.

And yet, absolutely transfixed, I loved every single moment.

    Cheers!

  • "actually, this might be bitter" 3:05 hahaa

  • now that i see how its played , i dont need to learn this song!

  • I agree with John that it is F F# G

  • McCartney's genius...

  • Nice tutorial :)

  • no comment....

  • great! but it would help me if you named the whole chord progression first, then went back and showed the rolls, etc

  • This version sounds very nice. And since I suppose we're all entitled to our opinions, that roll to the G is not F-F#-G. A close listening to the Beatles recording reveals it to be C down to F#-G.

  • @LB6060 you're definitely right because this is a gospel tune and C-F#-G is part of the C blues scale

  • its probably still an easier way to play it! i have something to improve it!

instead of playing the c with the left hand twice together with the chord in the right hand at the beginning you could do it that way: 1. left: higher c right: c-chord 2. lower c in left hand 3. only right hand c-chord 4. only higher c in left hand!! if you do it that way the roll to the g-chord is a bit later and faster like paul mcCartney also does!!

  • More people can play piano than can teach piano. And good teachers are even fewer. You, sir, are an excellent teacher!

  • This was great!! I finally learned my favorite beatles song.

  • Just amazing. I give you all the credit in the world. You have great God given talent! Thanks so much for the lesson sir.

  • hey john i have added a video response to show how learning piano solely through your videos has allowed me to teach myself to play other songs I like but that you may not teach. This let it be intro was the first video I learned from, it taught me what a chord was ! hope you like it. I posted this comment already but it's not showing up so im posting it again sorry if it turns out to be a double.

  • @lenglain I just saw the video.. Fantastic! That was self-taught? Amazing. I liked the little quick "break" about half way through, the sharp-sounding B note (I think it was a B).. you've got lots of style, and your technique is quite advanced. Just a great job, all the way around. Thanks for posting a video, and let me know if or when you put another one up!

  • Wow I hadn't seen this comment they load slow for this video for some reason thanks a lot that was really encouraging! the little break was to separate the end of the piece and the beginning of my own little version inspired by it, It's the same idea with the left hand but a different melody, thanks for the feedback!

  • Hi John I've posted a video of me playing "comptine d'une autre ete" just to show how learning through your tutorials has enabled me to also pick up the piano skills necessary to learn other pieces I enjoy but that you may not cover. i posted it as a video response dunno if it will show, otherwise you can check my channel and tell me what you think. this is the first video i used - it taught (and showed) me what a chord was!

  • Thank you once again =)

  • i like this video its more difficult.

  • THANK YOU MAN! :)

*I know saying 'thank you' isn't enough.. anyway..

    -badong
