  • In this Video this Mr2 which clearly has 220.. it GT for 245hp are GTS i wonder how much hp does this WRX has in this video it was a good race.

  • toyota on top as usual

  • @mernagh1996 I like Toyota, I've owned 3 so far with very little trouble. It's too bad they don't really make a "sport" car anymore for us in the U.S.A. This may steer me towards a different Japanese auto manufacturer in the future for my next car.

  • Mr2 was the fastest from 0-60 in its class between 91-96. The enginge is not big nor is it going to push that much power as a wrx but the weight ratio and having the engine in the back help this car glide fast like no ones business. Plus it has a turbo or you can switch to supercharge and that my friends kills almost any v6 v8 you could throw at. Civic hatchbak though is probably the one to dethrone this vehicle in its class with good mods.

  • Gotta love the GTS

  • Just to throw a cat among the Pigeons, Toyota is producing a new AE-86, in partnership with..................................Fuji heavy industries, AKA Subaru!!!! LOL

  • They are over rated they get beaten by cars with much less bhp and less torque at the drag strip and on the street all the damn time and btw I don't smoke weed I don't smoke anything lol

  • wrx = most overrated car ever I love beating them by miles with my 3sgte caldina and it's heavier than a wrx and it has a 3sgte engine and it's a tiptronic not manual lol

  • @Deano86t Overrated , stop smoking weed

  • @Viperfet they are slow. olny sti are fast

  • @karsseboomh22

i have a mr2 and im blowing sti's off the tracks.

  • @karsseboomh22 Yeah they are so slow the new Wrx runs same quarter mile as the STI. Read Learn Get Owned Subaru

  • @Viperfet

The difference is the drive train. The impreza looses a lot of energy because of the 4wd system. and also the gearbox ratio is different. it is only 30kg heavier.

but the driver might be 50kg heavier. and who knows maybe there is a lot of stuff in the trunk???

  • @Deano86t Do you beat the old model gc8 sti's as well??

  • mr2 is the better car

  • Toyota has discontinued their best cars the Supra, Mr2, and the rwd corollas (ae86) they should bring them back.

  • @Chispiolo actually supras are still going on they just cost alot and not many people know about them and i love those 2 cars two of my favorites i actually own a mr2 :D 1991

  • So, I'm about to leave for the army and when i get back i plan on getting my first new car.

    I'm deciding between:

Toyota MR2 (up to date year model)

Wrx STi (up to date year model)

    Lancer Evolution (Evo9 Model)

  • @trevorhirby Man it all depends on what u want.. I opted for the 1994 WRX over the MR2 because it had more mods, sounded better looked fuckin sick with the body skirt.. and had back seats. Mr2 is more if you already have a nice car and just want a car for yourself. Lancer evo is the best performer of them all.. no matter what your year.. and it has back seats. They are expensive tho.. and need LOTS of maitenance. Mr2 s are the cheapest of them all tho, and are quite reliable

  • @mmdaniels33 Well said. I Loved my 91 Mr2 T for its fast, fun and VERY Reliable performance. I threw more and more boost at that poor thing, and in the 6 years I owned it, it Never let me down. The WRX seems great to me tho, cause although it may not be quite as fast as an evo. It has toyota-like dependability (I've heard).

  • @trevorhirby I Would honestly reccomend the evo or wrx.. more practical, and can perform anywhere.. WRX sound soo beast with an exhaust tho, and then the mr2 sounds second best and the evo is third.

  • If Im not wrong, the MR2 weighs about 1250 to 1350kg´s? Correct me if im wrong :)

  • @R0bish

    The MR2 weighs 1150 to 1225 kg.

    It depends of the type.

Coupe, t-bar and year of built.

  • @ScoolioMR2 Okey thanks for correcting me mate ^^ Close guess though dont you think? :P although i love both cars but if i had to choose id take the mr2 anyday :)

  • @R0bish i think in this comparison the mr2 was compare to a version 3 wrx not sti so the mr2 has a chance because its a lot lighter, although just like everybody els i love both cars, peace.

  • @R0bish My 92 GTS hardtop weighs 1250kg with 2 amps + sub, half a tank of fuel. Weight distribution was very close to 45% front 55% rear without the spare tyre in the front and my amps in the boot.

  • @R0bish My 92 GTS hardtop weighed 1250kg with 2 amps, 1 sub, full trim, heavy engine lid shroud + 2 x 11" SPAL fans and half a tank of fuel. 45% Front 55% rear weight distribution and near identical left to right.

  • @R0bish

The weight of the mr2 is 1250kg the weight of the Impreza is 1280kg

The impreza looses power because of the drive train it is 4wd

  • Im planing to buy a mr2 turbo 1991 US version, but not sure of what engine is, I gess is a 3sgte but in what version (hp???) and what chasis

And what is the difference between sw20 and sw22???

    tnx

  • @BladeGTS not sure about the sw22 but sw20=turbo version,sw21=n/a version on

    US specs.

  • Go MR2!

  • That is crazy - i thought the Subaru was meant to be fast??? How can a MR2 beat that, I don't that Subaru driver was 'putting that pedal to the metal!!!' properly.

  • i like how the jap dude says EM-R-TWOOOO

  • @runamoktoo check out Wiki on this dude. Was having a look at many revisions of the Mk2 MR2. One of the GT versions was topping out the others in power...

  • Probly cause GT-S is a turbo and some years have a lot more hp.

  • jdm models, gen2 220 gen3 245 gen4 260ish

  • @vng704 The gen4 3SGTE never came in an MR2. It was only used in the Caldina GT4. People have swapped them into mr2s but the performance difference is marginal and also the fact that the turbo is part of the exhaust mani on the gen4 is pretty sucky. But at least the gen 4 has a kickin rad side feed intake mani.

  • Comment removed

  • @runamoktoo They're identical motors. The GT and GT-S differed in package options, not engines. I hope you're going gen3 with this swap.

  • Comment removed

  • That was actually a bad performance by the MR2 driver, because on the other video against a gen2 turbo it did low 13s.

  • Actually the GT and the GT-S have the same identical engine. The GT-S however was a more "sporty" option. It came with less options, and was a lighter car, making it faster stock.

  • subarus are just shit and slow in general buy a gtr and give it stage 1 tune 400hp if you want a quick car

  • impreza isnt made for streetracing its more of rally car well it is rally car and mr2 is small and light so its faster but when it comes to dirt or snow do u see mr2?

  • my 1989 sw20 turbo kills all subarus. smokes most cars. only one car has beaten me and thats a ford xr8 that has been fully kitted out. fully forged bored out. etc etc.

  • @fukkyookunt You sound like a huge ricer.

  • street racer sounds better but you sound like a cock sucking homo.

  • You could stick a turbo the size of jupiter on that subaru and give it a 4 mile run up to the starting line and the mr2 would have still beat it hands down.

  • @shagmasterJ No. It wouldn't.

  • @CircuitSoul Yes. it would. The mr2 would also beat it driving backwards too.

  • @CircuitSoul A built WRX with a decent-sized turbocharger would walk a stock turbo MR2. GEN III's are fast from factory, but you're comparing apples to oranges once you start modifying the WRX with a "turbo the size of Jupiter". This is coming from someone that actually has a built Gen III SW20. Yes, they're excellent cars... yes, they're fast even out-of-the-box (and stupid fast with a proper build), but that doesn't mean they are untouchable just because you like them....

  • My Aerostar would smoke all of you.

  • I've got a stock '91 mr2 turbo. My friend has an '02 wrx set to 14PSi, my mr2 squashes it.

  • And this type MR2 is build from 1994 till 1997.

And the wrx is from 199?

I don't think the wrx is older than the MR2!

  • @ScoolioMR2 The MR2 u see is the SW20 (2nd Gen) the 1st Gen is AW11, n the Impreza has been around for sometime

  • @eidairman1 The mr2 in this video is what u call the MK2 and the AW11 is the mk1 in the MK2 they had 5 revisions basicly little upgrades through the years it was in production , in this video it is the revision 3 mr2 turbo, you can tell by the rear lights , its the best one !!!

  • @ScoolioMR2

No the mr2 is built from 1990 until 2000

the STI with 259.6ps = 256bhp is built from 1995

  • lol?

mr2 heavier? you're joking me right?

even if it WAS heavier, that would put the mr2 at a disadvantage for not being able to accelerate at the speeds it does.

try again the race 3 years later? LOL. the mr2 is discontinued while the wrx is still in production.

the mr2 still rapes a bunch of new production vehicles even to this day

  • subaru's are not fast sorry

  • it is heavier

  • The japanese Spec GC8 WRX models had between 240 and 260 Horses (as you might see in the video), so they had MORE power than the WRX from nowadays, including less weight ;)

  • yeah i was totally high when i wrote that. the mr2 is lighter. and the wrx is underpowered. all i was trying to say is that in the version 4 STi, they got a significant power upgrade, so it would have been a much more interesting race a few years later. and menti83, as far as power goes you couldn't be more wrong. the newer scoobies put out around 300bhp, and the version 4 thru version 7 put out 276.

  • New STi's still only put out 160-170kw atw.. They have good power at the engine but lose a heap from drivetrain loss.
