  • Man Stephen you are so friggin good! Happy 67th BD bro.

  • Six people are wooden

  • saw heard this in park city, ecstacy

  • I saw CSN in Bozeman, Montana-- I have no idea if it was two or four years ago. I was clean and sober for a while... I KNOW I would have been happier if I had listened to it the way I should have... slipping into the music, feeling it with my whole being... OK maybe I can do it again a "little" bit high?? No, let me do it pedal to the metal!! PS I love the barefoot boy!!!

  • not as good as the Jeferson Airplane version.

  • incredible harmonies.

  • it ok...

  • I love Wooden Ships..but I still think the eletric mix of Stills is too bright and loud and then it makes it harder for the 3 to harmonize....sorry-not my favorite version..still good.

  • i am

    321712

    to visit this site

    i would

    think

    once upon a time

  • One of those guitars is electric, in case you didn't notice...

  • what the hell happened to music?

  • @WhoIsJohnLewis Really...U Think??

  • @smogpump troll

  • Stephen Stills is a genius. A classic tune that will remind me of Yasgurs Farm forever!!!!. I go back there to see CSNY every chance I get

  • Is this performance available on DVD? I've always wanted this particular show on DVD.

  • I have seen them so many times and had the honor of meeting Grahm Nash. They always seem to have a magical like presence over the audience and everyone is so laid back, it's as if they are playing just for you. They only get better with age. Thanks guys!~ Dutch

  • ya gotta admit...the man knows how to pick a guitar.

  • 我が師、スティブン・スティルスの、素晴らしきギターの味に何度痺れたことか!C・S&N、1991、劇的曲"木の舟"~唸る、唸る

  • don't really like this version.

  • @ejectorerector yeah its kinda grungy FOR an accoustic version. I think it's cool because it adds iron to the lyrics

  • Just acoustic.....GLORIOUS!

  • Good times watching this DVD with my buddy.... a good bit ripped from the herb, if you know what I mean. Blew my mind...

  • How can one not get into this song and embark on this trip with the wooden ships....so beautiful and mind blowing I really relate to the psychdelic times especially with this album and these guys..........

  • How can one not get into this song and embark on this trip with the wooden ships....so beautiful and mind blowing

  • Very nice performance. But it appears Stills is using an electric guitar. Instead of "acoustic", maybe it should be called "guitars only", or "without backing band".

  • @bighed213

Don't be such an absolute tosser

  • Comment removed

  • The Eagles don't deserve to wipe CSN or Y's ass!!!

  • When you start to look at the body of work, by these 3, and then you throw in Neil young, it's really staggering what an impact they had on the music of the 60's, 70's!

  • Steve Stills, one of the great underrated guitarists of our time

  • @theqman1956

    I agree.

  • This music can never be out done. But their are a lot of tallented groups out their that could come up with something on their own by just paying attention to the times we are living in and go with it. start something new for Gods sake and quit butchering the songs of the past and get on with music as we knew it!!!!

  • CSN, Eagles, Byrds, Hollies and Buffalo spring all did one thing well, played great music:D

  • before the chorus, Graham Nash: " Here we Go!"

  • Thanks for this mate...Australia loves this lot, and this song too

    cheers

  • Brings back some well suited times for myself and my friends..............John

  • Stills Blonde Esquire Sounds Sweet.......

  • @racesity Are you sure that is an Esquire Looks like am G&L to me? You tell me okay? I am looking for one of those just about this old. early sixties later a bit maybe. Any one got one they want to sell(reasonable please!) Angel

  • where is Young?

  • @PaziMine some times young just like y is sometimes a vowel

  • Stills at his best

  • this is so great. thank you again for this gem!!!

  • CSN to the Eagles is like comparing Babe Ruth to Alex Rodriguez or Rocket Richard to Ovechkin or Jim Brown to Adrian Peterson or Pete Maravich to Dwayne Wade...you look at time, all-time status, standards as factors and you see that comparisons are useless. Plus, I personally don't get that Eagles appeal...I mean their music is good but its not legendary to me.

  • super..............

  • WOW !OMG ,love this song .

  • pretty amazing performance!

  • acoustic ???

  • @FRANCEBERNARDI Unhhh, well...two-thirds acoustic?

  • The CSNY version, I mean.

  • Anyone have the Woodstock version of the song? That remains the best version of this song.

I have it on LP, but I never see it online, so that's why I ask.

  • the best band ever... acoustic anyway.

  • very free and easy, isnt that the way it's supposed to be?

  • @hallucinatinggreen No it must be complex and difficult, so says the ways of the modern world...

  • @AndreasZimmerman yeah well.. so badly it has turned that I have nothing but mercy for those swine.. If THIS is the modern world. I want no part of it.. I'll keep advocating peace and understanding, wearing home made clothes and smoking herb til my time comes . Long live woodstock man :) peace

  • On THE BUS!,Brother..........

  • is this the origenal song, or is it from jefferson airplane

  • however, Stills' lead guitar interpretation of the emotion of the song was pretty sweet....and heartfelt...

  • This version sucks balls. Too much amplification of instruments and not enough vocal emotional empathy. Just. Sucks.

  • @stmichelob What you are speaking to is the recording not the performance. If you work at it you may see past that and hear what was actually happening in the room.

  • @fireblossom2u um...are you agreeing or what? lol....I WAS speaking of the performance...this song, as i have heard MANY other times in MANY different performances makes me tremble....I was just saying this performance was fukt by the soundboard guy. And I hate it....because I love the song so much. But Stills stil rocked it the fuck out. As he should.

  • @fireblossom2u BUT... the best band of their era, better even then Simon and Garfunkle, and better than 99% of the bands that proceeded them, Tool being the only exclusion. If you want to argue THAT point, I'll fist fight you. And I'm a former Marine.

  • @stmichelob 'best' is such an arrogant concept, I have no knowledge of this band nor of the era, I'm just saying.

  • What they call music today can't compare!

  • I KNOW THAT BLONDE ESQUIRE SOUNDS VERY SWEET.....

  • extraordinary !!!!!

  • I was lucky enough to see Stills with Manasses in the 70s, I also saw CSN in 85 at Ceasars in Vegas and they blew the roof off the place , I also had 4th row in an all accoustic Neil Young show

I have seen some crap that would blow your doors off

  • Saw them play this live last month.

  • Scary how beautiful this song is-hauntingly stunning

  • excellant music saw csn 3 times live love it

  • Steven still makes my heart flutter.

  • PURE. MUSICAL. GENIUS.

    "You don't need us..."

  • It's funny, they're playing much better these days than they were at that time, what 20 years ago. I have to say, they sound washed-up here.

  • When he says "here we go" it's great because that's exactly what everyone is thinking when any incarnation of this song plays, where it goes from good to great.

  • I just revisited this video and all I've got to say is I'm still shaking. Man I don't think I've ever seen DC so engaged and joyful. Such an awesome sight. MY goodness what a performance.

  • The greatest band ever just got even better. Rock on. I'm up all night.

  • Amazing. I had the pleasure of seeing them a few weeks ago in Dublin. Great show. I also saw them on the tour this clip was taken from. I feel so honoured to have seen them perform. I've also had the privalge of seeing Stephen perform solo about a year ago, also seeing Crosby and Nash, and Crosby Pevar and Raymond (CPR). God, how fucking lucky can a guy get. Music as it should be.

  • my point is they never did any song the same twice....sooo coool

  • I like jefferson airplanes version better. just sayin,

  • Saw the lads in Dublin last night 2 rows from the front. I will take this performance to the grave with me. It blew me away completly. I feel privilaged to have seen them!!

  • All the posters who say you can't compare the Eagles and C,S,&N are right. They are very different bands and with different followers. While I respect the SH1T out of every member of the Eagles, due to my era ('54) I much prefer C,S,&N to the Eagles. I think what gets compared here is really a popular vote vs a true comparison. I think it's very difficult to compare many of the most successful bands that we all would agree on. That's what made them great and successful to begin with.

  • THANKS FOR SHARING IS RIGHT, TOO COOL!!!! ; ) ANGEL

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing this amazing masterpiece.

  • @countrygal0831

welcome mate , brilliant performance indeed.

  • @deadhead1065 don't we all wish we could make music like this, 3 amazingly talented guys, whose vocals mesh so well, and whose songs delivered some very powerful messages during a troubled time in the late sixties. Their music HAS stood the test of time quite well, thank you!

  • @countrygal0831

    welcome mate, brilliant performance indeed.

  • This makes me feel better about getting older and fat. Your voice stays almost as strong as when a young man.

  • nash off on the loud harmony here, but harp is interesting.

    stills-godfather of guitar.

  • just shut up and listen. beautiful...

  • this is the worst version i have ever heard of any song

  • @nickmelon--seriously? I know it's pretty different than the original recording, but there's something so special about it. I don't really know what--but it's so strange you sy that because I LOVE this version probably above all others. We probably have radically different taste in music--it's that thunderous guitar intro to the chorus. I don't know how anyone who likes these guys couldn't like that. The most poignant part of all is we were at war yet again when they performed this.

  • @sweetprism00 fuck you im right

  • @nickmelon--wow, pretty sure your rebuttal's got "fail" written all over it and that the majority of people on here would disagree with you, but whatever. I thought I addressed the fact that we heard and interpreted it differently already but you still had to bust out the douche-osity.

  • @sweetprism00 I think i have the upper-hand here seeing as i banged stephen stills

  • @nickmelon...haha, well touche`!

  • @sweetprism00 Thanks to George H.W. (XYZ ad infinitum) Bush you mean? What a jerk he is.

  • Crosby is 50 here, but healthy and in full voice. Compare it to his catatonic performance of the same song in the 1982/1983 Daylight Again tour.

  • IMHO-CSN harmonizes better than or as good as any rock , country, folk, pop, soul group ever! Their music and lyrics expands consciousness and relaxes one at the same time. Aesthetically pleasing to the ear!

  • great song but I like Jefferson Airplane's cover better

  • @jfrey0725 It's not a cover. Paul Kantner co-wrote it with David Crosby and Steven Stills.

  • The Eagles cashed in on being 'entertainers' writing mainstream commercial music, where CSN wrote to have an impact on a generation with their messages. The fact that they rose to super-stardom was secondary to the meaning of it all, and a result of that message. That is why CSN has such a great 'natural' sound, because it was never manufactured.

  • @cbxsage I couldn't have said it better

  • great song indeed... my fav version is on DayLight Again dvd. its a most triumphant movie concert. cant go wrong with the studio version as well...

  • im totally agree with st.LouisRocker i though that they were at the same level with the beatles

  • you smoked too much and your voice changed from 1969, but no problem, you're still a hippie in my point of view, no matter if you're bold and old

  • this is the best version of one of my favs i love this one more than jefferson's but people have no idea of the power of this song. BRILLIANT i no i cant spell i dont give a fuck wat a great song it means so much to me .\\m//

  • simply timeless.

    CS&N......forever Young... LoL

enjoyed every second of this fine take.

    thanks for sharing.

  • The Eagles suck without Joe Walsh and Don Felder

  • "I hate the fucking Eagles, man!"

  • Stills shines in that great solo.

  • Time for another revolution...

  • just freakin FANTASTIC! No other band or group has ever come even close. to the talent that these men have in their little fingers. Before or since...nuff said...

  • Just impossible to compare C.S.N.& Y to the Eagles...Soooooo....... different.! Crosby Stills,etc... are like fine aged vintage wine in a wooden barrel...the Eagles, although very good...are just not quite anywhere near that.

  • The band? Eagles are crap dudes. No comparison. The song? The Jefferson Airplane covered this particular song better than the original.

  • CSN and Eagles can't legitimately be compared. The Eagles were great but CSN spoke for a generation AND paved the way for others - most notably America. Also, look at their geneology. Hollies, Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. With or without Young they were simply the best.

  • @no10851pc

Oh Yes, CSNY are simply the best

& Eagles = "variétés" in french

  • @no10851pc

I think CSNY are the best at what they do, and I guess I am just playing favorites, but Led Zeppelin will always be the best at everything to me.

  • @no10851pc well spoken... spot on...

  • @no10851pc love when they say the best bands came from overseas.

  • Eagles and CSN? Really, what are you guys thinking? It's like comparing apples and oranges! Both are fantastic bands, both have had enormous hits, and both have influenced many musicians like myself, but that is where it ends. The Eagles sing about good times, almost like fairy tale lyrics, while CSN sings about real life, the struggles of the 60's and 70's, especially the Viet Nam war, and the protest movement back then. To me, that makes their lyrics ten times more powerful.

  • @muttenstein i hear what your saying-- as far as lyrics, but lets not forget that Joe Walssh was right there at kent state when the NG shot at students. He has some things to say lyrically in the old days --and later days--yet more sarcastic,or tounge in cheek.that being said the musicianship of the eagles is far superiorto csn.love them both myself!

  • Why Are You People Talking About The Eagles?

    CSN Here !!

  • Some clown shoe compared CSN to the Eagles?? The Eagles?? The Eagles had their time in the sun, but CSN has and will always stand the test of time. Plus I think the Eagles sucked too!

  • The don't even need bass and drums.

  • the founders of song do NOT play versions. Only other artists who play that song too can play versions.

Deep Purple does not play a version of Smoke of the Water. It is their song. Same applies here.

  • Wow. I'm looking for any scientific proof of such a claim. I think this rule is modified by the drugs. For instance... this isn't the LSD version.. this is clearly the Cocaine version. LOL.

  • Not to take anything away from Stephen's awesome performance, but Jorma gave us a ride in the JA version, as well. It's great that this song was written as a collaboration from the two groups, so we got to hear different versions. Grace's harmonies are cool, too, but David and Graham are the "benchmark."

  • The Finest Art and Music only comes from the finest Hearts.CSN Not many like them around these days!!!! Long Live CSN

  • Only The Eagles compare to CSN and Y in terms of harmonic style and musical talent. Then it's an opinion or coinflip...

  • No actually it's pretty easy to decide because the EAGLES SUCK!!!!!!! CSN shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as the lame Eagles..

  • it depends i like CSN for their mature lyrics ..what about POCO ?

  • Anyone catch the Madison Square Garden Rock n Roll tribute? Different artists performed...David Crosby and Graham Nash did George Harrison's "Here Comes The Sun" with Paul Simon...WOW

  • I don't knock your opinion or your taste.. My pure hatred for the Eagles is my own personal opinion, and obviously not the rest of the world's. I just think that CSN was just a more intelligent band and had a wider range of music. The Eagles just puked out the same sound over and over.

  • Key words: "obviously not the rest of the world's". The variety the Eagles brought to the table came from 4 extraordinary musicians. Add Neil Young to CSN and MAYBE they were as good. Only Steven Stills could compare to Young in terms of individual careers. Only Neil Young can compare to Don Henley, Glen Frey and Joe Walsh individually. But, hey...I like CSN and Y....the Eagles are just better musician's and stand even as vocalists. Check the records, Mr. Bitter.

  • Joe Walsh was the only cool Eagle.. Don Henley is a wanker. It's all a matter of opinion. You can like the Eagles that's fine, but there is no way that they are as kickass as CSN with or without Y

  • @jabnhook2 so do I, I admit that the Eagles is my favourite band but also CSN and POCO, I really love the work the've done during decades.

I'm 18 years old and i'm aware of today's music situation and everything is more commercial and without that feeling that the musicians of the past were very used to play

  • SWEET

  • awesome .... !!!!!

  • Why censor the guys comments hes got a valid point. Oh I forgot, youre all working for the man now!

  • stills my man...anyone remember the amazing guitar stuff on Four Way Street? Stills and Young amazing guitarists, four amazing musicians...everybody grow a heart ...

  • Hell yeah! My old man has the record. I like listening to it :D

  • Sorry to offend your apparent lack of knowledge of Neil Young but "Lets impeach the president" is his modern war-protest song. AND the vast majority of musicians from the sixties and seventies are no longer producing music or dead. They have made huge contributions to the cause along with other philanthropic endeavors (cerebral palsy).

  • yo fool, these guys do alot of good for mankind, more than anyone else. especially those fuking hippys. save ur fn drool,

  • Great clip. Thanks for posting.

  • Beautiful. Maybe their best live performance of this song on video. Those were the days - they were at their peak then.

  • Very nice. Thanks!

  • by the way, great video, just saw them at gathering of vibes, 40th anniv. of woodstock. incredible!!

  • wow, most of you need to look in the mirror and judge yourself lest you be judged. it is easy to label people when you have zero understanding of the lives and stituations of these amazing artists. everyone has the right to their opinion, but most of yours are uneducated crap!

  • one of my favorite songs. great video. thanks, deadhead1065.

  • What is clearly evident djhippiegirl, just as bomb hills you resort to name calling instead of proving me wrong. One of the lessons of the 60's was not to follow leaders, too bad we didn't learn not to trust rock stars.

  • in the begining it sounds like down by the river right?

  • im saying that neil young went from ohio to lets roll and mccartney went from love love love to fight for freedom for men who live in castles built with money from a peace movement thats selling out

  • you really dont know neil youngs work to well

  • You call 'Let's Roll' selling out? He donated money to Todd Beamer's family, the guy who coined the phrase on flight 93. By your definition of sell out, any artist who sells their art comercially would be a sell out...right? If that's the case then everybody you've ever heard on the radio or an album is a sell out.

  • lol how is this acoustic with that tele and roaring tweed fenders stills is using?

  • in the end every last one of the voices in the music of the movement sold out neil young paul mccartney steven stills maybe john lennon being shot is not as bad as it would be to have seen him years later stand with those who choose war makes me believe they only sang songs of protest because thats what was selling

  • you are an idiot. Niel Young never sold out. What a ridiculous thing to say, and your view on Lennon is just silly. It is clear to me that you could not know less about what you are talking about.

  • It is clearly evident, that you are an idiot.

  • I definite miss the drums and bass!! iT'S AN ELECTRIC SONG.. why turn it into an acoustic thing?

  • jefferson airplane did this song orginally?

  • Written by David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Paul Kantner.

  • It's about a nuclear holocaust. this was written during the Vietnaim conflict. To get another idea of what a world holocaust may be like READ Cormac McCarthy's "The Road)

  • NOT THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR....

    NOT MUCH ON HISTORY HUH?!!!

berries are supose to be VERY good for you when enduring the effects of atomic fall out!!!

AND REMEBER THE MAINE AND THOSE WHO DIED IN HER!!!! and the start of the spanish American war!!

  • spanish american war ?
