I think it is different for different people. There is no way I could be a contra mestre next year (my 10 year anniversary of Capoeira) but there are others who can. Especially if they travel to other groups and Brasil a lot and are training directly under a mestre. Also crazy dedication.
i mean, by no means am i knockin him or anything, it just makes me feel old seeing him from when he first started after me and now dude kinda "out ranks" me. but at the same time, their cord system isn't as "lengthy" as other groups.
I don't know how they could even keep track of where they and their partner are at all times like that.
