  • man this song always gets to me. muther-fucking Western pigs are lucky I don't have a rocket launcher. Bruce is the greatest artist ur shit country ever produced

  • Hey man 'it was beautiful. I punched in this song i i got this ..KUDOS

  • I saw Cockburn do this song in Saskatoon in the late 80's (solo concert) and he did it in open D - key of D. I play it that way now, but I think your version is true to the original recording. I guess if you're playing solo to a large crowd, you can get more oomph from a drop D. By the way, you knock 'em all outta the park!

  • @terrybeaton thanks terry. i have a bootleg somewhere from his '88 solo tour, and I'm pretty sure he plays it like I've done here, in key of C. I could be wrong I suppose, or maybe he changed it up for Saskatoon. Cheers

  • @TorontoLarrivee If you it saw capoed and in C then I am remembering it wrong. I was in the third row, center isle and I remember at the time thinking, "this is in Drop D", but then I was heavy into the Drop D at the time! When I tried it later it felt right in that key. Actually, if you play it in Drop D you can double up the melody in the verse (with lower octave: F# -D -F# , G -E -G, A -F# -A, and so on) and it sounds really full. That said, I will be learning it again in C from your vid.

  • @terrybeaton If you saw it capoed and in C on a video from that tour then you're probably right. I was in the third row (center isle) and I remember thinking at the time - "this is in D". ( but I was heavy into the drop D around then) and when I tried it later it felt natural to play it like that. Actually, when you play it with the Drop D, you can double up the melody notes in the verse (using the octave lower) and with the 5th's it sounds really full. Still, I'll be playing it in C from now on

  • Your voice & playing capture the emotion very nicely
