Kibaki Govt can do a better job of decogesting Nairobi by building a dual road to machakos. Then all the people who work in Nairobi from Machakos can work in Nairobi and live in Machakos
Just wondering considering Nairobi Railway Station is a historical monument. What plan do they have in maintaining some of the history in the new design.I wish the leave the front structure looking the way it is but incorporate the new design in the background. Or they can do the demo in a smart way. Demo all the old stuff in the back but let the front wall structure stay, then Add the new design into it. Dont we have a Historic Monuments body? Are they sleeping on the job.
Its a shame that with all this ambitious plans to modernise our rail systems, Kibaki has appointed Ali to oversee all this.....the MD in this vid sounds so eloquent and knows what he is talking about...just when you thought theres nothing to come out of ukambani outside of our new CJ man Willy......but seriously what are the prospects of this rail plans being followed thro' with a guy like Ali at the helm?...same old crap served in 'new' utensils...njit...bado najitegemea kuwa mkenya
VISIONARY LEADERSHIP BEGINS LIKE THIS....True this should have been done years back but at least we are doing it now. This is some good news which is usually rare. You know most of the times we hear about hacking, car jacking, impunity, loss of funds and falling buildings or seeing millions and millions of idle people on the streets especially the youth, so such projects hopefully will be involving. Another project is the solar and wind farm in Northern Kenya...start that one too..
They need to ensure there is enough parking space. With these high fuel prices people will love to use the train. Matatus will go out of business as people will prefer the comfort of the new trains. I understand that the second floor will have restaurants. Way to go Kenya!
This plan reminds me of a Dr. Gikonyo Kiano when he was a minister of water development he said " By year 2,000, every Kenyan will have a piped water near by. Now is year 2011, where is Kianos water?

Good news but long overdue.

Finally.....this commuter railway could help ease traffic in Nairobi. Kenya will indeed be way ahead of its regional neighbours.

Talk about late on arrival. This kind of talk should have happened decades ago.
