hmmm...not reali...chen's dishes always like to keep it simple and sometimes it loses the traditional chinese cooking...this maybe fun becos chinese chef with japanese style against the traditional chinese chef...also, the food that they r cooking is dried abalone, that will be good. according to the chinese culture, dried abalone is one of the most luxsory food.
ooppsss...sorry... that challenger is actually not a traditional chinese chef...i mean he uses fusion to combine the tastes of diferent places in china instead of focusing on one (for example, cantonese, beijingnese etc)
what we always see from chen and the various chinese chefs are mainly just common-man dishes, and just a small fraction too (split into sichuan, cantonese, etc)
if imperial cuisines were ever to be presented, they'd run out of time of course (lol), but i can't think of anything other than royal french that could rival it in terms of presentation, taste, texture
the food emperors used to eat, recipes and techniques hidden away from the common man, picked as the best of entire of china
Yeah, and how about that Kaga guy blatantly mispronouncing "Allez Cuisine!"?!? It's supposed to be pronounced ahl-ay kwuizeen, not "alla keezeen"...
The point of my obvious sarcasm is that mispronunciations due to cultural differences in vernacular linguistics are, in my opinion, a little thing in comparison to the positive exposure these cooking techniques and ingredients are receiving from programs like these. Let's relax a bit and just enjoy the show.
Well, I don't think it's the Food Networks fault, it's the fault of the dubbers. I think it's dubbed by Canadian voice actors.. so they have an accent all of their own.
well, i'm pretty sure the japanese station chose the dubbers because they fly out the translators to japan. and from what i've read, they do a pretty good job because the original dialogue is either non existent (30 seconds of silence) or is really dry
its the dubbing that makes this show so charming in a campy manner and gives a ridiculous amount of eccentric appeal. that and kaga. hehehe, long live the flamboyance!
Keep playing 7:22 over and over again
I love Kaga-san so hard

Chen? You want Chen? Well, it's better than dealing with Michiba-san, but not by much.

Damn it, I can't stand it anymore! I just can't believe those ignorant people at Food Network keep on mispronouncing the word "Szechuan"!
The word is pronounced like "See-chuarn", NOT "Seesh-wand"!
Misleading the public audience on NATIONAL television is a serious issue!
