Roky Ericson was a strange and beautiful song writer who got a bum steer from the state of Texas. This has always been one of my favorite songs and it is the one I remember when I think of Rocky. I love this cover and I love Roky's version, too. Keep playing it and Roky will never really die!

JWH did a great job, for sure! However, while I'm happy for those of you who think this is the best version, Roky's original will always be the best for me.

The 2 blond guys in the red jackets are The Paley Brothers (Jonathan & Andy) who were making power pop records in the late 1970s on Sire Records.

first time i ever saw this video was at a benefit show at slim's in san francisco. while the video shows its age, the song itself, both erickson's original and jwh's brilliant brilliant brilliant cover, remains in perfect condition. thanks for posting this!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! From the 1990 tribute album to Roky Erickson, "Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye". I had recorded this video from MTV's 20 minutes once, but I can't find it anynore. Great cover of a really good song. John Wesley Harding rules! Uh,... did I say thank you?
