Take Nicki Minaj, for example. Her songs are okay and she actually sounds like a pretty good rapper, but I think (some of) her fans love the barbie appeal more than the music. She's mostly a model.

It's blatantly obvious when they do and they start in perfect consistency with the track itself. Most singers now use a backing track of their own voice and sing over it. There's a difference though.
