Thanks mbuzini 1 - any particular online link or contact person. To me the biggest procedure ignored was the cross-checking. I find it interesting that there was also the conspiracy theorists in the Hansie crash that said the George beacon had been turned off by the mafi etc. In both cases the pilots ignored their instruments which they assumed were faulty.
TomaLuta, you are wrong. Factual Report was compiled/signed by tripartite investigation team (RSA, Mozambique, and USSR). It reveals everything: crew’s failure to log mandatory fight plan, failure by Captain to ensure compliance with pre-landing procedure – checklists were simply ignored, among others. Only “checklist” verified inside cockpit related to beers/cokes Flight Engineer was busy ordering for crew to take home.
Total garbage - the guy Louw is a plant to throw suspicion!
The Russian pilots (as so often they are in Africa!) has been drinking, they did not know where the hell they were and they broke every rule in the book!
In aviation, disregarding rules and procedures will get you killed every time.
As for the 'false' NDB - see 03:29 - 'No,no, there's nowhere to go no NDBs, there's nothing" said by the navigator.
Simply an accident caused by incompetence - SNAFU as usual in Africa!
Anyone know where one can get online the documents that they were carrying? Read the reports - pilots didn't follow procedure from beginning to end- didn't event put effort fuel in...didn't get clearance to proceed below 3000ft etc. They were reported to have flown this route many times...they should have had a sense of where Maputo was...they lost situational awareness just like the Hansie pilots...didn't respond to the Ground Warning Signal - the Russians Pilots were to blame - full stop.
think of how much this type of conspiracies are continued to destablize Africa and destroy great leadership and replace it with cowards and madmen. Villianize good leadership so they can keep blacks fighting. kick the white people out
IS JUST THE WAYS AN SYSTEM , 4 KILLING THE MOST IMPORTANT AFRICAN PRESIDENTS. HOWEVER EVEN UP TILL DATE, THE OTHERS ( AFRICAN PRESIDENTS ) DONNOT WANT TO LEARN FROM THIS WONDERFUL EVENTS.
Situation faced by crew did not take place in split second timings. 10' 18" before impact, Capt queries right turn. 6' 49” later (or 4’ 18” before impact) Capt realizes “there is no Maputo”, but takes no action to establish aircraft position, continuing descent below 3,000 ft without runway lights in sight. (see excerpts of CVR transcript above) Capt failed to react to GWPS alarm, heard within cockpit for 32”. Reason? He had insufficient fuel – had to land there that night come what may.
Tower instructions were quite clear: Maintain 3,000 ft until runway lights in sight. Capt disregarded this, although 4’ 18” before impact he said: “There is no Maputo. Electrical power is off, chaps!”... “everything is switched off” and 1’ 01” before impact Co-pilot says “No, there’s nothing, there’s neither city nor runway”. Golden rule: if you don’t see runway, you don’t descend minimum safety altitude. By the way: after right turn and until impact, aircraft was not following any VOR.
i think the directions to landing from the control tower are paramount to pilots. Therefore, the pilots may have seen the lights of Maputo City but still not have been able to make any independent decisions. Remember this type of situations took place in split second timings. Machel was murdered!!!!!!!!
The pilots couldn't see the runway lights because they were not over Maputo. Some 8 minutes before they were supposed to intercept Maputo’s radial 45 for a straight-in approach to Runway 23, the aircraft made a turn to the right, towards South Africa. The Board of Inquiry believed that if the plane had not descended after the turn, it would have reached Matsapha Airport in Swaziland since the turn to the right coincided with Matsapha's radial 45.
Hans Louw speculates when he says that the pilots thought they were landing in Mozambique. By reading the transcript of the Cockpit Voice Recorder one can clear see that the crew was unsure of its whereabouts. Seconds before impact, the pilot said "there is nowhere to go" because he and his co-pilot could not see the runway lights. This "Special Assignment" documentary is a disservice to history; the TRC “investigators” and their media “advisers” a bunch of amateurs.
Hans Louw is an impostor. His claim that he saw, at night, Machel´s plane approaching the site of the crash with the landing gear lowered does not conform with the Factual Report compiled - and signed - by the three countries involved in the investigations (South Africa, Mozambique and USSR). The Factual Report specifically states that the landing gear was up.
I suggest a search on Youtube for the videos: "Morte de Samora Machel (1)" "Morte de Samora Machel (2)" and "Morte de Samora Machel (3)", they represent the technical point of view of an ancient portuguese pilot (Mr. Armando Cró) who flew Samora Machel many times
"Brain Fingerprints" can remove most doubts as to what's stored in the minds of these alleged assassins.
We can positively ID PEDOPHILES, terrorists, Satanists, and corrupted politicians with this test, but as long as those types ARE politicians, it will never be used.
SAMORA IS ANOTHER VICTIM OF GREEDY MEN WHO WANT AFRICA IN THE DOLDRUMS SO THEY KILL ANYONE WHO WANTS TO ENRICH THE CONTINENT, LUMUMBA, GADDAFI?

I also strongly recommend you google for the text about Samora's death written by the journalist Mr. João M. Cabrita in 2005

A good documentary. Thanks for uploading your content.
Anyway, I noticed that the picture looked as if it was digitized from a S-VHS, right?
