  • The reason she doesn't like you is the big hair, shes afraid it will jump off your head and attack her, lol.

  • wait the second.. GAYLORD TELEVISION ENTERTAINMENT??

  • HOLY SHIT I WATCHED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND NOW I SEE SUSAN SARANDON PLAYED BEAUTY!!!!! MIND FUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!

  • IT'S JANET FROM ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!

  • doesnt anybody notice brian mays lookalike in this?!

  • Besides Disney this is My favorite version of beauty and the Beast, the acting is superb and Susan is gorgeous

  • @jtco3 Have you seen the Jean Cocteau version? 'Cause this is pretty close to a shot-for-shot remake of it and the effects are pretty impressive for the time it was released. It's a classic!

  • Cool

  • this is much better....

  • Susan Sarandon, Klaus Kinski, Anjelica Houston....

As a producer Shelley Duvall excelled in gathering such talented people for a TV series!

  • Cool Kinski as Prince and Angelica Houston as a sister, Susan Sarandon as Beauty, great! :-)

  • Gaylord televison lolll

  • By the way, I'm not saying this is a bad copy. It just feels like a copy. :P It's actually quite good.

  • Anyone else think this is a copy of the 1940s French film?

  • @MsKrishtina I was just thinking about that, but there are a lot of artistic differences. Personally, I like the 1940s one better, but this version is like comfort food to me!

  • @femalephantomdimes5 Is it weird that I think the actress who played Belle in the 1940s seemed more ... emotional, realistic, more human? Nothing against Susan Surandon (spelling?). She's an excellent actress.

  • @MsKrishtina It is!

  • wow the girl who plays Beauty dose Charly Bucket's mother in Willy Wonka

  • @AnimeRocksMyWorld16 Actually, the mother in the more recent Willy Wonka movie was Helena Bonham-Carter. But you were close ;)

  • lol its the same set as the 1940 beauty and the beast.

  • Who plays Joque?

  • We love you Shelly Duvall :D

  • Aww... Lovely! ♥

  • This is just Wonderful ---jean cocteau would be proud. they kept so faithfully to the old black and white version. Big love for doing that. now it's the same great story with COLOR and it's in ENGLISH. Thumbs WAY UP!!!!!! xoxoxo

  • They could not have found a better Beauty than Susan Sarandon!!

  • "Inside, on her hands and knees, as always."

    HOTHOTHOT

  • woah women where so obviously flirtatious back then haha!

  • wow people where flirtatious and mean back then

  • this episode of ftt scared the crap out of me as a kid

  • if people seen the french version of beauty and the beast aka la belle et la bete. you would notice that they used the same style for the beast

  • @rockinamber18

Yes the sets, costumes, and make-up for this where based on that film.

  • Funny, but before I saw this episode, and before I knew Susan Sarandon was in it, I never really thought of Susan Sarandon as being beautiful but, now that I think about it she is sort of pretty.

  • @71crm Well, have you seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show ? .. Check HER out in THAT one!

  • @Skulldini No I haven't, but I have seen her in Little Women with Winona Ryder and Enchanted!

  • @71crm Well, I mentioned RHPS ( in reply to your previous comment below ) because she's quite young and sexy in that one.

  • I love Susan sarandon!

  • I prefer disney version

  • i love this movie

  • I don't think the sisters are forcing Beauty to do housework like in Cinderella. Beauty decides to do these things for herself and because she needs to take care of her father as well.

  • I remember thinking when I was young the hand should have poured him a full glass. I was too young at the time to know that you're not supposed to do that with wine.

  • They can't think of a better name is Beauty O.o

don't get me wrong I love Susan Sarandon and she's great for the part but at-least name her character rather then Beauty, in the Diseny Verison Belle means Beauty so they could have either name her with the 'mean beauty' or 'A sounding name of Beauty like Maria, Rosa or Abigale etc'

  • The way he says "hello" kills me rotbl haha

  • She should be called scrubwoman or scullery!

    LOL

  • is that fricken Angelica Houston? Damn, she plays a stepsister/mother so well.

  • @jwrocks This time though she is Beauty's SISTER. All three of them had the same mother.

  • When was she a stepmother?

  • @Garrettk41 In the film "Ever After."

  • Oh, that's right. For some reason, I didn't care for that movie very much.

  • Love Susan Sarandon! She's brilliant!!!

  • There are some serious actors in these crazy things!

  • this is a good episode and I really like it but I think it would have been better if they had been a bit more original with the plot, instead of relying on Jean Cocteau's version... especially the parts that were explained in that version but not in this one..

  • Like what parts? I haven't seen the Cocteau version.

  • i love this! n those from fairie tale theatres!!

  • Gotta love the straight up albino horse, I don't even think it's white...that's an albino horse. lmfao.

  • Yes, it appears to have red eyes. Wow.

  • If you wanna see a really fantastic, scary and romantic version of Beauty and the Beast you should try the Czech version from 1978 directed by Juraj Herz. The original title is "Panna a netvor".

But this one from 1984 ist not that bad either.

  • Thank you so much! I'm just checking it out. I'm very interested in different adaptations.

  • you'd think they could be more original and not followed the 1946 French La Belle et La Bete.

  • At least this is better than inciting controversy by colorizing and English-dubbing the Jean Cocteau classic. ; )

  • Roger Vadim, who directed this episode, also did "Barbarella" (1968).

This is unusual from the other "FTT" episodes how the scenes of Beauty's home are shot using reel film while the scenes of the Beast's palace are videotaped like soap operas to give it an ethereal look.

  • the first word played was "gaylord" ahahaha

  • GAH! I love Susan Sarandon!

  • lol...i love thus type of stuff its hilarious yet terrifying. and !!!! you know its gonna be great when the first name you see on a fairytale show is geman nutjob klaus kinski loloolo
