I think the point of this entire movie, and why Elle Woods get a 179, is that she is actually brilliant. She always has been, but only seems ditzy because of how she looks and her personality. But brilliance is more than just SEEMING smart, which is what Elle Woods has and that is actually how she gets a 179. She simply channeled something she already had.
are you fucking kidding me right now? this is so stupid. as someone who just graduated with their bachelors degree, i want to punch her in the face. -___-. and i enjoyed this movie when i was younger.
I just don't think that Brooke could've done this. Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't.
also, why is this really that hard to believe? ANYONE with a high gpa and LSAT score plus leadership experience and great recs is almost guranteed a spot at a top law school
@punkofmudd whats hard to believe is anyone going from a 143 to a 179. the LSAT isn't really something you can "study". its about your general ability to read/understand information. its hard to even move up 5 points during the entire time you study, let alone 36 points.
@omgcrayonz Considering that the lowest possible score is 120, and the highest is 180, you are right.
It would be highly unlikely that just studying for the LSAT would raise your score from the near very bottom to one point shy of a perfect score, and I have yet to find a legitimate documented perfect score, but I am sure someone has done it the 53 year history of the exam. But that is the beauty of movies, a person could look like a complete dummy and get a 179 on the LSAT :-)
@omgcrayonz that really is untrue. i know many people(myself included)who have gone up 15 points from studying. Its a matter of learning the right tricks and test techniques.
well i don't know... i believe it... a girl in my sorority who was a partier and tbh "slut" got a 4.0 and high LSAT score... now SHE'S going to harvard law and oh yeah, she's blond!
This has to be my favorite part of the movie. Yeah, not too realistic but Reese Witherspoon is awesome in this role! Her face after she says "I object!" is classic!
OK... True, Its basically impossible that she studied her way into a 179. With that being said 1) general audiences aren't familiar with the LSAT and don't know/care what the numbers mean. 2) To enjoy any movie, you have to accept its premises uncritically... Its called the suspension of disbelief. The whole movie is ridiculous and is supposed to be. So everyone calm down, and everyone take a breather, and try to just enjoy the movie for what it is.
@MaxwellsAttourney so what. if movies were realistic....we'd have men flying around in spandex suits saving redheads and blondes alike. Can't we just assume for the sake of the movie that she's just a genius? it's just entertainment not a documentary.
@MaxwellsAttourney some people are just naturally smart at this type of exam. i have friends who dont study at all pick up a pen and score 169 without opening a review book.
BTW, love that she was studying with the New/Used CD's logic game. General consensus places it as one of the hardest ever administered. Right up there with mauve dinosaurs ;)
Funny thing about this is that a person cold testing at a 143 could not conceivably "study" their way to a 179. LSAC writes the test to counter to the methods used in prep courses/books. Yes, you can get a basic understanding of the test by studying. But anyone who has taken it will tell you that the actual test rarely looks like anything you've seen before. I've taken it three times: 163/168/173.
@quetzal8788 Even though it is a just a movie, a 179 is insane for any test taker. You have to miss only 1 or 2 questions on the entire exam to get that score. You gotta be in the 99.9th percentile of test takers to get a 179. 54,345 took the LSAT last October. Now consider how many people could have gotten a 179 out of that group. Friggin' crazy.
i wish it was this easy hahah im studying to become a lawyer
