  • elzhi is dope as fuck. whats with niggas talkin about him imitating nas. nigga has been around ova 10 yrs now. he sounds better than eva.

  • He looks like Nas and AZ combined, so his is rap style

    Coincidence?

  • @ThumbsUpMike kinda, he is from a grimey city like Nas and AZ. and he is influenced off Nas but not only him, there's some big daddy kane, rakim, and others . he even made a mixtape dedicated to nas called Elmatic case you havnt heard it. he's been nasty since a young age like Nas... he put his first album called "out of focus" in 97 when he was like 18-19 years old... Elzhi is one of the greatest rappers so yeah alot ppl will compare him to Nas but what they rap about is completely different..

  • He just Yapped Nas classic flow so you really cant rate him whether he paying homage or not its not his to style for us to judge. He does a good imitation tho.

  • @hiddenmic1978 comparisons comparisons comparisons... thats all hip-hop fans do nowadays i guess.... Nas does not rap like this... comparing Elzhi to nas is like comparing Nas to Rakim.... Elzhi been doing this shit since 97... nobody was comparing Elzhi to Nas before Elmatic came out.... do your research

  • dope track!

  • You cant "Like" or "Dislike" this video because its unanimously "LOVED"! Elzhi is arguably the best!

  • im seeing bars come together like doors in prison.......and everyones on YMCMB dick? FOH

  • FAYAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Flow.

  • also ''my nuts hang a couple crotches low,'' so gay to quote, but so ill.

  • EL you is so....just.....motherfucking dope.

    -Majesty

  • "you melt faster than a freeze pop, in 100 degrees, El sunning Emcees he's pops"..... NOW THATS AMAZING WORD PLAY RIGHT THERE... i realized how great that line is on Mushrooms lol

  • DOPE

  • i'm seeing bars come together like doors in prison... crazy

  • def on my radar..its rare to see mcs spit internal rhymes within the line pattern..thats fucking crazy, this cat is nasty as fuck

  • D-town in da house

  • for some reason this track only makes sense when its loud as hell.... my monitors be working to separate the sounds in this track... This is not for clock radios AT ALL...

  • I dont if its just me... but he remids me of Nas

  • @ManuelirvinClassics 1:01 he has the same clothes as Nas in ''it aint hard to tell'' video, only less baggy. He got a little more energy than nas imo too

  • @MisterJimbo101 Yeh you clocked that nice..

  • only if Elzhi was a bit younger he probably get more exposure but this nigga is like 32 and has been in the game for a while, so i understand why he is very underrated, regardless of him being an underground rapper

  • You guys comparing rappers to eminem and all that shit... you dont know shit about hip hop just saying.

  • @alexandregareau Just stop it.

  • @alexandregareau yea you should stop now.

  • @nax284 no you should stop, you really dnt know shit about hip hop

  • @cyrusjerome I don't know shit about hip hop HA your a funnnnnnnny guy. So what do you know about sedgwick and cedar?

  • @nax284 It's a corner in the Bronx... Where Hip Hop is said to have been started... Thx Kool Herc... We Love You Man...

  • @msplayer08 there are plenty of rappers that can come close to em lyrically

  • im glad that hes underground, real heads should be the only ones allowed to listen to stuff this fire!

  • damn, hes like nas son....he shuld be big by now

  • Eminem isn't much of a rapper anymore. He's a Hip-Hop Legend/Icon. Royce is retiring soon. Success is Certain was allegedly his last album. Elzhi is just reaching his prime, however, and will likely follow the same path as AZ or Masta Ace. He'll be an overlooked, but well regarded MC who will slay cats behind the scene. Elzhi is the best in the game right now.

  • The view counter on this video MUST be broken.

  • @nutkins112 OR people have forgotten what bangin tracks sound like...just got introduced to dude, and i'm way thankful

  • Tough!!!!!!!! Elzhi the great>

  • GZA or Rakim can be lyrically be compared to Elzhi.

  • @DRECARTER91 real talk

  • eminem fell of a while ago, and royce aint what he used to be

for right now, today, elzhi is "currently" better

  • @McLovinMcNugget did you here the new Royce da 59 freestyle with Slaughterhouse???? he spazzed.... i agree tho Elzhi is currently better

  • @McLovinMcNugget Word.

  • @McLovinMcNugget EXACTLY,someone who says ''currently'' once in a while.

  • @McLovinMcNugget yeah but only in terms of the quality of the music they've released recently homie...i guarentee eminem would dominate elzhi freestyle

  • @McLovinMcNugget

but K-Rino remains to be the best rapper alive

  • this beat is fuckin dope

  • GO ON XXLMAG.COM..... VOTE ELMATIC MIXTAPE OF THE YEAR!!!

  • @verbaledge you dont listen then you wont know. How you gonna prejudge a song just cause you dont like the name of it??? C'mon dude. If you open to listen to the other tracks, listen to ALL of THEM. I list them for a reason. Yea, maybe this Hip Hop shit isnt for you anymore. I think you missin' out, but whateva. Imma keep knockin' it in The Black Ack'! 1 Hunnid!

  • his voice kinda sound like Nas here. dope tho.

  • I don't like is music but i can see the he's a real rappers not like those new '' R&B rapers ''

  • @paincakes700 ...stfu

  • @Cdrouin50 true... but if only he was putting as much dope music as Elzhi i would def concider him one of the greatest all time..... Im hoping Jay's debut album will be classic.. i got high hopes for him.. Hopefully he will show these J Cole fans what true debut album is all about

  • @Cdrouin50 Jay Electronica barely puts out anything..he's dope but just cause he puts out a couple good joints a year doesn't mean shit...

  • check out my Nas vs Elzhi vid

  • I can't decide whether eLZhi or Black Milk killed this track more...double homicide.

  • @brainzlau agreed, Black Milk came nasty on this one...

  • @brainzlau Black Milk is a beastly producer!

  • his name's Elzhi, Detroit Niggas yAh!!

  • This Nigga look like Nas in the car at 1:40

  • I can feel a bit of oldschool there... ;)

    Nice...

  • i was told to listen to this guy after i said hip hop is stale...after this i still think its true

  • @verbaledge Then you def' need to CLEAN ya ears out homie, and LISTEN again. REAL TALK.

  • @mrpostman730 did that.this guy might have gotten me to listen to him 10 years ago when he was just starting out. not saying this guy is lame or can't rap just saying i'm tired of the same old thing. you can't tell me this guy is so original that he's elevating the game, he probably helped to do that 10 years ago. i want something new and hip hop isn't doing it for me right now. respect to any musician that puts their music out for criticism. i won't be downloading this album, but that's me

  • @verbaledge go listen to 'The Preface" Colors, Guessing Game, D.E.M.O.N.S, Brag Swag and Talking in my Sleep.........and tell me who done the concepts before and who version was betta, then get back to me.

  • @mrpostman730 no way am i listening to a song called brag swag. sounds like frat music...that d.e.m.o.n.s. track was good but im still not convinced that hip hop has anything new to offer, for me. i was always interested in musicianship more than lyricism anyways so we are probably on different pages. i probably shouldnt have lumped him in with all the other commercial rappers but even underground hip hop is overssaturated. to each his own

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCityofgood nothing is wrong with him. it's a solid song. just feel like i could have been listening to this a decade ago, and my collection is full of this type of music. maybe i'm just getting old, bored, and cynical

  • @verbaledge hmm, i see. I dont know what rappers is in your collection but only a hand full of mcs could really see eye to eye with elzhi when it comes to strong lyrical dexterity or being dedicated to creative multi-syllable/rap pattern manipulation. Sure hes not completely original but he is distinctive from many other mcs in terms of his topics & rhyme schemes he comes up with. U dont have to, but i urge u to listen to his album preface all the way thru before u abandon el completely.

  • @TheCityofgood will do. i'm sure im just waiting for someone to slap me in the face with something new and not giving this guy chance. i'll give him a try again when i'm not in such a pessimistic mood about the over saturation of hip hop

  • @verbaledge alright, and if u do indeed listen to it all the way thru and is still not feeling him then oh well at least u can say u gave him a real shot. Keep in mind this dude's no rookie, hes been around for over 13 years now and was mostly known for being a member of slum village before he went solo.

  • Comment removed

  • @verbaledge oh and fyi this track is not included on his official studio solo debut the preface, its a track from a mixtape of leftover stuff.

  • THIS NIGGA IS THE LAST OF A DYING BREED.. LYRICALLY HE MIGHT JUST BE THE BEST IN THE GAME.. AHEAD OF EMINEM ND ROYCE

  • @YoungKelzCT yeah man you def can make the argument that he's the better than Em and Royce da 59... in the majority of songs he has with Royce da 59, Elzhi out did him... and that says a lot cause Royce and Em have out done each other on some tracks so Elzhi can def go toe to toe with any rapper in the game

  • @YoungKelzCT Moehwhahahaha.....

  • @YoungKelzCT You should check out macklemore and hopsin, theres plenty out there, just not getting recognized because everyone likes trash now

  • @YoungKelzCT testament to elzhi skills that i won't even hate on that comment even tho em is my favorite and the best rapper ever to me. royce can't be slept on either...

  • @YoungKelzCT you should check out grieves

  • Can someone give me examples of what shadow boxes, tight writers, and mirrors are?

  • @PlusVans they are rhyme patterns

  • @MoodMuzikFilez

Yeah, I meant what kind of patterns.

    Can you give me examples?

  • @PlusVans look up his video on patterns.. just type elzhi and patterns you should be able to find it easy... he can explain it why better than i can and he drops examples..

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCityofgood i never said it was

  • @MoodMuzikFilez OOPS, i replied to the wrong person lol my bad

  • It's funny how people say Eminem's the best, but they never heard of dudes like Elzhi. No disrespec to Em but he's obviously good, but there a lot of great rappers these mainstream rap newbs. never even heard of.

  • Sampled "Check The Technique" by Gang Starr

  • Why doesn't he have his own vevo.

  • @HipHopRenaissance100 cuz he has his own channel

  • @InfamousAct fasho.

  • This dude is one of the most slept on...DOPE!!!

  • ayo..this dude is a fucking monster...whoa

  • Comment removed

  • last verse is some of the best lyricism, poetry and word-play you'll hear in your lifetime. shit yeah it gets deep.

  • Why do I hear heart of courage?

  • nas is the god mc. the originator of gangsta lyrical hip hop. if not the originator illmatic was the best example. the synthesis.

  • @ariues na he carried on what Rakim started

  • @KaramuKarim he greatly improved on what Kim Allah started

  • why they gotta use that hey sample enuff of that shit.

  • Damn!

  • Great song, corny video.

  • where are his glasses??? love them, he should put them back on

  • 1:57 Baatin Poster.....

    R.I.P Baatin & Jay Dee (J DIlla)

  • whasup with the rating bar? some1 scamed it or what?

  • At 0:45 he kinda looks like Martin Luther King Jr.

  • One Be Lo & Elzhi are the best MCs alive as of right now.

  • "rap is now suckin ass, full of new school niggas i wouldnt fuckin pass"

    Illllllll

  • this dude is bringin that flavor back to hip hop

  • holy shit lol

  • that nautica jacket is so ill

  • great video love the camera work and edting, and the song is fire

  • If you don't like Elzhi you're a sucka. I'm from NY and El is easily my favorite MC to come out in the last 10 years.

  • stop that nas shit please. eLZhi is eLZhi.

  • @rmsg120nsb

Are you kidding me my dude? Definitely swagger jacked the hell out of Nas... I mean he has a nice flow and lyrics, but... definitely bit his style by a far margin...

  • @SunRys1 look, i won't debate it, if that's your opinion there's not much i can do but i can tell you they are very very different from eachother, just got some similarities 'cause i grew up listenin' to both and eL as always been like this before this whole nas comparision shit and that's a fact. when i'm listenin' to eL, i know i'm listenin' to eL even in eLmatic. if cats were really payin' attention they would know, rhyme patterns, flow, subject matter is different. honestly, both in my top 5.

  • @rmsg120nsb

That is respectable, but El definitely came after Nas.. so how old are you my man lol. I respect your opinion, but... any clear MC can tell his flow is being copied here. If Nas is cool with it, then that's all good, But this Elzhi doesn't deserve any fame, if respects aren't paid, and he's getting all dues for doing this. If anyone else thinks I'm wrong when I say this dude straight up jacked his lyrics/swag/flow. Then fine so be it.

  • @SunRys1 i'm 18 and i'm portuguese, been listenin' to hip hop since i'm 8/9 or so, i mc too, i know the elements and i know nas came first, but eL didn't come too many years later,he's been in the game for 12 years and never drop a single whack verse ever since and i got almost all the material from both.all i tried to tell you is since eL went solo he became even better and this comparisions started and i didn't even understand why.then i heard el was droppin' elmatic and it became clear to me.

  • @rmsg120nsb

LFMAO at you, even this nigga agrees with me.

  • @SunRys1 So Nas didnt take ANYTHING from Rakim???? Yo, this biting shit is really gettin' tired......Damn, if the dude nice with it, what EXACTLY is THE PROBLEM???????

  • @rmsg120nsb

Well he's using all Nas' beats, his flow and words. "Elmatic"..

Only difference is lyrics and voice. He is good though :)

  • @xjev not the same flow and delivery at all, beats are re-created, song names are the same but most of the times it ain't about same topic and the rhyme patterns are way different. i mean that's my judgement but it's all good.

  • Nas It Aint Hard ToTell V2......same coat and everything looool

  • Im tha...bellringa, shell slinga/hidin bodies til tha smell linga/until dey pale as rene zelwinga/when EL sting ya, ya feel it like ya braille finga.....just that much alone kills 90% of the artists in the game now.

  • NAS IS COMIN...

  • seeing this dude tonight!!

  • OMG!!!! FIYA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A real lyricist taking hiphop back to its roots

  • ELMatic !

  • Straight ILL

  • Elzhi is the truth. I have the utmost respect for this dude as an MC. Check out the remix I did for 'Deep' on my channell

  • @imPulse1919 Indeed. Check the remix I did for this track on my channel also.

  • @imPulse1919 that tractorbeam joint is dope.. keep workin on you bro, real hip-hop will never die.. i dont think El meant to diss all new school emcees, but more the likes of those bunch of mainstream fags, that aint nothin but fake images.. RAP MINUS LIES WILL ALWAYS REMAIN HIP-HOP!

    peace!

  • @imPulse1919 Well said my mans well said.

  • Elzhi is the greatest MC spitting on the MIC right now. Please name another MC that is spitting better than him right now, Pharoahe Monch? No. Eminem? No. Canibus? No. One Be Lo is right behind him as of now.

  • @IEtherianSoul9 I agree with all of that, other than the Pharoahe Monch part. Elzhi isn't seeing him.

  • @ReturnOfTheZ 'cause eLZhi goes beyond Pharoahe Monch. Pharoahe Monch, Royce and the whole SH crew, Sean Price, Jean Grey said that ain't nobody touchin' him right now and from all the hip hop i listen to, that seems like a fact to me.

  • @IEtherianSoul9 What about Slug?

  • @rehtlh Slug is my favorite artist of all time, but his last few releases have been only above average, not great like all of his previous releases up to "you cant imagine." He's fallen slightly from his status at the top of the underground game. Elzhi could very well be the best rapper out there right now.

  • @IEtherianSoul9 I can only categorize someone as 'greatest' of a certain way or style. Saying someone is the greatest is too general of a statement. Elzhi might be one of the best at his style but noone is the greatest rapper I just dont think it is fair to even ask the question "who is the greatest rapper".

  • Comment removed

  • @IEtherianSoul9 Roc Marciano, Sean Price

  • dude shit elzhi if your detroit ya should be leaning on a caddy lincoln you know . . still much love just a former d-boy

  • Check out the 'Deep' Remix i did on my page. Its supernice

  • @TimsMusictube Wayne isn't a beast. And he's categorized because he sounds like a lot of other rappers. He has too much emphasis on his mediocre punchlines, and doesn't concern himself with flow anymore. Old Lil Wayne? Sick. See "Shooter" for how he should rap. Haven't seen anything like that from him in a long time. He, like a number of other mainstream artist are based off their reputation, not skill. Which is why they are categorized... In the complete shit category.

  • I would say this song is one second too long, but then again i could never have too much elzhi
