@TheDreamCar it's a new clear cable invented by Riv, I hear only a handfull of uniquely gifted can actually see it naked eye. Park tools makes a set of goggles for the rest of us, I ordered a pair because I like to work on my own bike.

Ok, I gotta ask. What's the beeswax for? Waterproofing, or making it easier to thread?

@harrellreeves It's a lubricant like grease, but unlike grease it's stickier, so it won't back out as easily.
