Vaseline should not be used on your eyelashes. It will get in your eyes, sting, and make them irritated/red (the white part, not the iris). Also, your eyelashes, just like all hair, is dead. It's made of keratin, just like your fingernails. This is the worst vid I've ever seen, too. I cannot hear her and the lighting stinks and she just rambles and basically, it's really useless. How does mixing green eyeshadow with petroleum jelly constitute a "primer" on par with Smashbox?
First of all, Vaseline should NEVER be used in or around the eye area PERIOD !!!!
Secondly, it should NEVER be used as an eyeshadow primer. The purpose of an eye primer is to get the eyeshadow to have staying power not slide off after 15 minutes of wearing it. Vaseline, contrary to what most ppl think, is NOT very good for your skin. GOOGLE IT!!!!!
@ILuhvPrinceRoyce She's right though. She's not being mean, she's giving great advice. Also, have you ever heard of Spell Check? Or ever been to school?
@badnicegirl75 actually, vaseline can be used on your lashes to help moisturize them and keep them nice, and it can be used to keep the skin around the eye moisturized as well. I just googled it, so thanks for the suggestion
Oh and for those worried about any harmful effects of petroleum jelly, you can buy un-petroleum jelly. It's more natural and won't harm your skin. I'm not sure where to buy it, but I'm sure it will come up on google just fine
Actually I use Vaseline as a makeup remover/moisturizer. I sometimes apply it prior to applying my foundation to remove any excess oil or dirt and wat not, but I NEVER leave it on w/ makeup as it will only cause creasing and eventually all the makeup will rub right off. Also, I find it very useful as a lip moisturizer. Since I'm always losing my Chapstick tubes everywhere it's pretty handy to have in in my purse =]
Ugh, no. Vaseline is NOT an eyeshadow primer. The whole point of a primer is to help makeup stay on, not add oil to your eyelids to make it crease 10 times faster.
@immandrew well retailers would sell whatever they could, and I'm not saying Vaseline isn't toxic; just not great for constant uses on one's skin. Google that information all u want.
@justrixx ..I agree. Petrolium is a gasoline derivative. And though it has been processed way down from that state, I would never place it on the facial area, or anywhere sensitive. The skin absorbs chemicals into the body, so I just think it's a good idea to avoid using it for makeup related things. :)
this is great.. i have heard about using vaseline as a primer before but i have never seen a demonstration or comparison of it, so tnx that really helped!!
Omg.......

if you use vaseline before eyeshadow, it will just crease!
primer is used to keep oil of the lids. while vaseline is just adding oil.
