  • if it was a little bit higher like one note higher it would sound just like it off the game

  • TO ALL:

I'll re-phrase in a way that hopefully won't get anyone riled up:

To prospective users of sheet music, I strongly recommend looking further than this.

    - Try to find something that features the key signature.

Major-3rds should never display like diminished 4ths, etc., and using sheet music that makes those sorts of mistakes trains you improperly at reading sheet music.

Everything DOES seem to be enharmonically correct (the actual pitches are right) so it'll do in a pinch, but yeah.

  • @tehmikuji I've been playing trumpet for a long time, and unless it's completely ridiculous (i.e. double flats or sharps all over the place), I usually find it easier to keep up with a few accidentals rather than changing key signatures. Of course everyone should learn how to read a key signature, but they should also learn how to read music with a lot of accidentals as well. This might train you to write bad sheet music, but it definitely doesnt train you to read it wrong.

  • @Ehal256 I think that this sheet music IS completely ridiculous, though maybe I just have higher standards.

My standards are basically either it's written properly or it isn't, and since it isn't that hard to learn basic music theory before transcribing something, I don't think that we should condone this.

I have to disagree & say that I do think it's bad practice to learn from this kind of notation. If this is easier, it's because you haven't had enough practice reading proper sheets.

  • @Ehal256 Also... who said anything about changing key signatures? This whole thing would be written with the key signature of B-flat Major, or wait, this is totally in B-natural... whatever, maybe has something to do with it being trumpet music (though I could've sworn Bb was written as C for "C" trumpets... not as B.

Anyway, it'd be in the same key signature all through-out, albeit with accidentals here and there. It doesn't go through any complete modulations.

  • RE: This notation being terrible:

If one has a limited understanding of music, they will often fall under a delusion that sheets like this are "good enough."

All the notes are enharmonic, so what's the problem, right?

The majority of one's music reading skill comes from experience (using proper sheets). Musical notation is standardized in certain ways for good reasons.

I can't think of a good analogy atm; if you actually ARE willing to learn & break bad habits, take a music theory class.

  • @tehmikuji ...but if you refuse to admit that just -MAYBE- you are misunderstanding some thing(s), I'd love to say "feel free to use your improper sheets, taking 4x as long to learn it due to the botched notation, which you refuse to learn more about," but for me that wouldn't do, because it is amateur musicians' ignorance and stubbornness that keeps a "market" for amateur "sheet music" going.

Having low standards is a BAD thing. "It works for me" is often fallacious, & this is no exception.

  • i hate inaccurate notes -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

  • that is like so freakin awesome

  • I agree with putting it on trombone lol and what tempo is it?

  • as soon as i saw this i got my trumpet out and played it.

  • How bout trombone???

  • Fuck, I play the saxophone... Curse you, trumpet, taunting me XP

  • @AstroPingooen Use those musician skills and transpose it. Play everything a 4th up.

  • yay now i dont have to do all the work thanks!

  • uhhh......

  • Prospective users of sheet music like this: Don't bother.

it has the trademark qualities of shoddy notation work. no key signature, and notes placed on the improper line/space, and given a sharp instead of a flat or vice-versa.

for whoever asked, C-flat is enharmonic to B. (enharmonic means same pitch)

However, for music theory purposes, C-flat is not the same as B, and F-sharp (first bar of second line in this vid), is not the same thing as a G-flat, which is how that note should be notated.

  • @tehmikuji give the kid a break he's no professional but for the simple people who want SOMETHING to go off of to play this song it'll serve it's purpose well enough. Sure, the enharmonics might be incorrect and whatnot but oh well I'm sure the kid did his best.

  • @WanderingFilms It's even worse if it's 'the simple people' using this. It's miseducation. This and other 'sheet music' like it will teach people to read and notate music incorrectly.

Give the kid a break because he's no professional and you're sure he did his best?

I'm trying to give those who might (god forbid) use this "sheet music" a break by warning them.

On the internet, someone's 'best' is not automatically good enough, like it is in movies and US classrooms.

  • @tehmikuji The internet contains miseducation? Oh no! If people wanted accurate "correct" sheet music they wouldn't settle for free sheet music on youtube. Simple.

  • @PhoenixL1ght You've seen a lot of officially published sheet music of video game music in sheet music stores, eh?

There is better "amateur" sheet music out there; the quality varies widely.

This video is an example of the very WORST one can find. If someone continues looking, they may very well come across a properly done version of this somewhere else on the web indeed. Who knows?

    Fairly simple.

  • @tehmikuji I'll rephrase. The who people who want accurate "correct" music, they wouldn't stop looking after seeing one video on Youtube and they wouldn't need you to tell them what they already know. For everybody else not looking for perfection, there's this video. Simple.

  • @PhoenixL1ght

"..who want..."correct" music...wouldn't stop looking.." (true)

"..and don't need...tell them what they already know." ("wanting" accurate sheet music is not synonymous with having the musical knowledge to recognize it if you see it)

    "For everybody else... this video."

No, you still don't get it:

RE: Those who CAN'T tell- they don't realize that it's TERRIBLE practice, and using sheets like this can severely warp their grasp of music notation. There is no justifying this vid.

  • @tehmikuji People who can't tell and are expecting to understand music only through YouTube are naive in general. They are likely misinformed in various other areas in their life and it is on their shoulders to be more selective of what they believe on the internet. And how can you say the video is not justified? If he hadn't posted it would he ever know how bad his sheets were? With your 4 raging responses you sound like you only want to off as an elitist with no real desire to help anyone.

  • @PhoenixL1ght

I'm sorry, dude. I get what you're trying to say, but I still disagree. Even if the majority may be how you describe, there must be at least some people who can benefit from what I have to say.

And sorry if I come off as "an elitist with no real desire to help anyone." I beg to differ. The reference to my sheet music of the thing from SMG2 was to establish that I know what I'm talking about, not to brag.

I DO have a desire to help people; (tbc in next comment, char limit)

  • @PhoenixL1ght

    (cont)

I've been on the look-out for the right music notating software to get.

As you can tell from the one sheet music vid I have on my channel, I was using a program called Harmony Assistant, but I've lost my legit registration # for it, and don't really like the program anyway. It's not that great.

I need something that's somewhat intuitive but still enables me to do lots of different things, like runs of a bunch of tiny notes, special meters, meterless notation, etc.

  • @PhoenixL1ght (and one last comment for now)

Just F.Y.I., maybe not to others but at least to me, YOU come off as a bit odd what with going to such great lengths just to try to dismiss and/or devalue what I (initially) said (prompting me to respond and defend, prompting you to do the same, etc. vicious cycle).

I mean, when seeing a comment that says something like "FYI, this isn't notated correctly" and it's TRUE, what's wrong with just leaving it be, instead of arguing with the guy?

  • @PhoenixL1ght

Funny thing is that there's always like at least ONE ignorant jerk (CONGRATS, THAT'S YOU!) defending completely botched sheet music on YouTube (when I help the less talented by telling them like it is), with the rest of the comments being a mixture between a few saying "wrong notes" or something like that, and most of the rest saying stuff like "thanx, gonna try it out, durrr!"

Anyone who thinks this is passable NEEDS to take a music theory course and stop trying to justify it.

  • @PhoenixL1ght (or anyone): To see an example of what proper sheet music looks like (minus one or two occasions of a chord missing one of its notes w/ clarifications in comment form) visit my channel. I have only a handful of uploads, & the most recent one (I believe) is sheet music that I made by ear for a theme from Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Like I mentioned, the two(?) tiny inaccuracies are corrected in comments I left. I'd update the notation itself, but I no longer have the app nor the file. =(

  • @PhoenixL1ght You've ended.. all your posts? with "Simple." I'm sure it must seem very simple when you've no clue what you're talking about.

Let's reverse it: I've posted a comment saying that the sheet music is not passable. You -could- post telling me my input is useless while defending something indefensible.

OR you can simply acknowledge that I know my sh*t, allow me to inform these people of the truth, & stop confusing them by leaving your incorrect / oversimplified / misguided rebuttals.

  • @tehmikuji As long as you already know how to read "sheet music" and recognize that this one is not 100% perfect, I wouldn't really worry about it. To simply say that you wont play the written because it is not as neat as it could be is pretty silly. I'd rather just play this than take an hour or so to write it out by ear to play it once.

  • @Ehal256 Well that's you. I've never used sheet music for non-classical music myself, since I've only ever trusted my own ear to get things right by ear.. Also, I don't take an hour to do it. It's more like, I play a video game and hear a piece I like a good number of times, then some time when I'm at the piano, I just sit down and play it. Any LH accompaniment will likely not be exactly verbatim that first time, but that's how I do it. Once I can hum it, I can play it. To me they're the same.

  • @Ehal256 BTW, I wanna thank you for stating your opinion in a non-agressive way. I'll also take this opportunity to apologize if I've come across as rude to anyone.

  • does a baritone count?

  • @pokemofan101 treble clef

  • Have for tuba?

  • cant you just convert it to midi and put it up for donwload?

  • Are you using Finale?

  • If you were going to do it in this key, you probably should have switched the key signature to Db so you could avoid those accidentals...

  • ...Does C flat even exist on the Trumpet?

  • @SonicSpriter14 sigh......

  • Hey, can you transcribe this for Alto Sax? I could do it myself, but I'm not great at it, and it would take a while for me to copy it into finale. If you don't have the file any more, that's fine, but I thought I'd ask before spending a lot of time for nothing.

  • whats high b and high b flat on the clarinet, plz repley as soon as you can, ive got an exam coming up x.x

  • thanks... sounds a-okay on my bflat soprano clarinet

  • DO you have one or sheet music for alto sax?

  • Hey, smashbros1321, can you make the sheet music for the Smash Bros. Brawl theme and the Smash Bros. Melee Menu for B flat Trumpet?

  • Since the trumpet is a Bb instrument, I would be able to play on clarinet right?

  • Yes, clarinet and trumpet are in the same key.

  • i have to get a copy of this so i can play it on my trumpet

  • i play the trumpet

  • That's cool and thx for the download :)

  • very nice

  • Thanks for this, I played this on my alto sax, and it sounds a bit, wierd, but thanks.

  • A tenor sax wouldn't be able to reach that written Ab.

  • You are correct. If you want though, you can try playing that note an octave higher. It might sound wierd, but oh well.

  • I don't actually know how to play the tenor sax.

I want to be a band director (when I grow up), so I'm learning things like this.
