it's dreadful to be honest with you. but, I did enjoy up to a point, becuase it was the xfiles, my favourite show ever. I was left feeling. is that it? what the bugger was the point in making another movie if it was going to be about this boring bollocks. I enjoyed the 8th and 9th seasons more than this. even the bottom of the barrel episodes. I give this film a 3/10. and only that becuase it had mulder and scully in it.

I mean.. i totally loved mulder and scully relationship the kisses and everything because I'm a shipper phile.. but.. c'mon...Chris, I love you...but the plot wasn't even an X file! we have one hour episodes better than this...and it kind of hurts because I wanted so bad to see mulder and scully kicking some monster's butt , that's why there must be XF3 to fix this mess..

@RogueTone you should see the tv spots which equal: holy shit, for a number of reasons (they are still on the official movie site). personally i love the film, but the marketing is downright criminal in the way it intentionally deceives anyone still devoted to the X-Files mythos. that, along with releasing a winter movie in the summer, are two of the reasons we will probably not see a third entry. - hopefully i won't ever find out that Chris and Frank actually signed off on those tv spots...

If you like the Ficction in the X-Files, DO NOT watch this movie, in my opinion its seems like a standard (A little bit boring) extended episode. However if you just want to see how Mulder and Scully are doing, and follow an exciting but not too impactating investigation, go ahead.
The X Files is definitely the best SCI-FI show ever made - unique storyline/script, great visual effects, perfect acting, deep atmosphere. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson did a brilliant job.
I miss this wonderful show. They should make more and more X Files films in the future

X-Files is about more than aliens and UFOs, it's about the unexplained happenings in the world, the cases no one else can solve. This movie is incredible, and this is an X-Files fan talking, i adore this movie, by any means easily as fantastic as the series, very often even better.
Absolute pooooooooo!!! Not the trailer, I mean the actual film. Everyone's opinion will obviously vary but for me as a die hard, from the very beginning XF fan, this was a huge dissapointment and had very little direction. The suspense lead to nothing and much of this film was uneccessary. Could of done with more paranormal activity.
Compared to the gems that XF has previously given it's fans, this personally wasn't even worth the watch. I do hope they redeem themselves with another movie!

It was more about Scully crying and constantly asking mulder to stop! The love scene didn't do anything. Mr. Biblical came out of nowhere, suddenly was in bed with her and then they were far apart like a bad marriage! What was that all about? I didn't get the part about the priest saying 'don't give up'. Scully screaming at him about what he meant, just like the rest of us asking the same thing. Carter and one of his top X-Files writers wrote this. What were they thinking?
This movie was okay. It felt more like a season finale episode than a movie. What it lacked was what made the x files so great, aliens and government conspiracies.
@achasingfrenzy actually stand alone episodes were awesome too... to me this movie felt like a middle season stand alone, season finales were a lot better than the movie specially during the first five seasons!

Why make an X-Files movie for new people that have never seen the show years after the show has been off the air? This show had millions upon millions of fans worldwide. If they had made a movie for the fans and also made it understandable for new people like they did with the 1st movie, this would have been the movie of the decade. Think about this Chris Carter. Would the movie have made more money if it were geared towards the millions of fans, or the few new people who don't really care?
I enjoyed the fact the film didn't realm into murky waters (Aliens and Conspiracies) and that it kept the film simple. Roger Ebert praised the film and I must say I enjoyed this film. The villain's plans are so creepy, the story was so interesting and the characters so believable that I felt this is where the X-Files films should have gone. Chris Carter did an amazing job on the screenplay and I think the actor that played Father Joe could give Heath's Joker a run for his money.
I thought that this movie was interesting, but I would have liked it better if it had a little more something to do with the paranormal or aliens. It was an ok stand alone story.
I've got another question. Mulder and Scully are living together and sleeping together and obviously in love but they still call each other "Mulder" and "Scully"? Give me a break. You can't have it both ways, Chris Carter. Write a better script next time.

This movie sux. I am a huge 'Files fan and this was a major disappointment! No Krycheck, no Lone Gunman, no little green men, no conspiracies, no Skinner (until the last freakin' 10 minutes), what the hell were they thinking? With all the fascination with Mars and returning to the moon, they write a cheesy horror script? There was no humor, the actors were emotionally dead, they really seemed like they didn't want to be in this movie. Do not waste your money or time, it bites!!!!
As I've said, everyone on the show has died at least once and come back to life because of some crazy reason. We saw Krycek get shot, but you really think Carter couldn't have come up with a reason he lived? The bounty hunter takes the body away to a ship and fixes him? Your words are very eloguent. I don't agree that any dead characters should have been brought back, but I agree that this movie was awful. This is coming from someone who has watched every single episode countless times. No wonder the script was so top secret. They wanted to hype it up to be something it is not. They could have replaced Mulder and Scully's characters with Matlock and Jessica Fletcher and it would have been the same murder mystery.
Saw the movie today and thought it was very good. To me, it was more about Scully and Mulder; their relationship... and the paths their lives had taken since the series. So, I'd see it again.

By the way, if you watched X-files all the way back from season 1, you will know that the show is not totally based on aliens and the paranormal. "X-Files" are based on all types of unexplained cases. I suppose one shouldn't expect the movie to contain just alients and UFOs.
It was lovely to see Mulder and Scully together again! As a long time X-files fan, I thought the movie was great, I was just a bit disappointed that there was not more drama and action. I would have liked to see more of the paranormal phenomena, instead of a priest claiming to be a psychic.

Yes, no problem. The only thing you will have to do is look beyond all the holes in the plot. After the screen went dark, several of us had a discussion about it and no one could really figure it out. SPOILER: What happened to the original FBI agent? Why did the guy on the operating table have a woman's arm? Were they trying to change him into a woman? Great mood, some suspense, but really no plot resolution or understanding.
If you go in expecting it to be 1997 again, of course you'll be disappointed!
I love how Mulder and Scully have matured in this movie, and yet stay true to their passions in life and for one another. Great movie! I will see it again next week.

If you like the Ficction in the X-Files, DO NOT watch this movie, in my opinion its seems like a standard (A little bit boring) extended episode. However if you just want to see how Mulder and Scully are doing, and follow an exciting but not too impactating investigation, go ahead.

The X Files is definitely the best SCI-FI show ever made - unique storyline/script, great visual effects, perfect acting, deep atmosphere. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson did a brilliant job.
I miss this wonderful show. They should make more and more X Files films in the future

@mutscot An X-File is an unexplained mystery, it can range between anything from alien abductions to psychics. And the last time i checked, psychics are pretty supernatural. X-Files is about more than aliens and UFOs, it's about the unexplained happenings in the world, the cases no one else can solve. This movie is incredible, and this is an X-Files fan talking, i adore this movie, by any means easily as fantastic as the series, very often even better.

Absolute pooooooooo!!! Not the trailer, I mean the actual film. Everyone's opinion will obviously vary but for me as a die hard, from the very beginning XF fan, this was a huge dissapointment and had very little direction. The suspense lead to nothing and much of this film was uneccessary. Could of done with more paranormal activity.
Compared to the gems that XF has previously given it's fans, this personally wasn't even worth the watch. I do hope they redeem themselves with another movie!

I hope we see the third film to seethe invasion. They have to talk about Project Bluebeam, of everything else X-Files has mentioned in the conspiracy genre, that has to be done, and William has to be shown.

I Want to Believe...there is gonna be another movie to fix-up the mess of this one, i am i huge fan of the series and im sure it deserves a better ending, plus it was just like a long episode, almost no excitement and all the questions about the series, still there unexplained just like and X-File

It was more about Scully crying and constantly asking mulder to stop! The love scene didn't do anything. Mr. Biblical came out of nowhere, suddenly was in bed with her and then they were far apart like a bad marriage! What was that all about? I didn't get the part about the priest saying 'don't give up'. Scully screaming at him about what he meant, just like the rest of us asking the same thing. Carter and one of his top X-Files writers wrote this. What were they thinking?

This movie was okay. It felt more like a season finale episode than a movie. What it lacked was what made the x files so great, aliens and government conspiracies.

Why make an X-Files movie for new people that have never seen the show years after the show has been off the air? This show had millions upon millions of fans worldwide. If they had made a movie for the fans and also made it understandable for new people like they did with the 1st movie, this would have been the movie of the decade. Think about this Chris Carter. Would the movie have made more money if it were geared towards the millions of fans, or the few new people who don't really care?

I enjoyed the fact the film didn't realm into murky waters (Aliens and Conspiracies) and that it kept the film simple. Roger Ebert praised the film and I must say I enjoyed this film. The villain's plans are so creepy, the story was so interesting and the characters so believable that I felt this is where the X-Files films should have gone. Chris Carter did an amazing job on the screenplay and I think the actor that played Father Joe could give Heath's Joker a run for his money.

This movie sux. I am a huge 'Files fan and this was a major disappointment! No Krycheck, no Lone Gunman, no little green men, no conspiracies, no Skinner (until the last freakin' 10 minutes), what the hell were they thinking? With all the fascination with Mars and returning to the moon, they write a cheesy horror script? There was no humor, the actors were emotionally dead, they really seemed like they didn't want to be in this movie. Do not waste your money or time, it bites!!!!

As I've said, everyone on the show has died at least once and come back to life because of some crazy reason. We saw Krycek get shot, but you really think Carter couldn't have come up with a reason he lived? The bounty hunter takes the body away to a ship and fixes him? Come on, it's the friggin' X-Files, anything can happen!! Bottom line, this movie bit dog balls.

Your words are very eloguent. I don't agree that any dead characters should have been brought back, but I agree that this movie was awful. This is coming from someone who has watched every single episode countless times. No wonder the script was so top secret. They wanted to hype it up to be something it is not. They could have replaced Mulder and Scully's characters with Matlock and Jessica Fletcher and it would have been the same murder mystery.

Saw the movie today and thought it was very good. To me, it was more about Scully and Mulder; their relationship... and the paths their lives had taken since the series. So, I'd see it again.

By the way, if you watched X-files all the way back from season 1, you will know that the show is not totally based on aliens and the paranormal. "X-Files" are based on all types of unexplained cases. I suppose one shouldn't expect the movie to contain just alients and UFOs.

It was lovely to see Mulder and Scully together again! As a long time X-files fan, I thought the movie was great, I was just a bit disappointed that there was not more drama and action. I would have liked to see more of the paranormal phenomena, instead of a priest claiming to be a psychic.

Yes, no problem. The only thing you will have to do is look beyond all the holes in the plot. After the screen went dark, several of us had a discussion about it and no one could really figure it out. SPOILER: What happened to the original FBI agent? Why did the guy on the operating table have a woman's arm? Were they trying to change him into a woman? Great mood, some suspense, but really no plot resolution or understanding.

If you go in expecting it to be 1997 again, of course you'll be disappointed!
I love how Mulder and Scully have matured in this movie, and yet stay true to their passions in life and for one another. Great movie! I will see it again next week.

The only old episode that freak me out WAS the one where this guy wouldn't give this kid money and the kid was in a wheelchair. so later on he hears the sqeaking noise of the chair and gets killed. But that was a long time ago and now I just laugh.

What the hell are people on about saying that they've seen the movie and thinking that it is The Happening? The movie has been kept so tightly under wraps that even the stars haven't seen it in full! How the hell could people confuse Mulder and Scully with The Happening?!
