  • @Dazzerx I dont have the original biab file anymore, but i've sent you the mp3.

  • @Hv358 Thank you very much, downloaded it and I really appreciate it, Is it possible that you could tell me the chords?

  • Justin Bieber was the one who disliked this. Awesome cover. Dude any suggestions for jazzy songs? I need a list of 5 jazz/swing songs and then have to play them with my band? thanks boy :D

  • @cvcgac "Justin Bieber was the one who disliked this" :). Well, this isnt exactly a cover. Allthough it has elements of Marvin Gaye's "what's going on" (non intentional) I would checkout some more Marvin Gay, Al Jarreau, etc. Not pure jazz, but good for a swing night.

  • Beautifull sound.!

  • One of the better videos of this unit. I like when the notes are played in a musical way.

  • Hey mate, can you please email me the backing track? :D

  • Dude I love your improv!

Could you please send me your backtrack?

  • Got it. Wow, thanks. Feel free to share any more smooth jazz tracks you will. I love this.

  • Love the music & the tone. Can't find the backing track. Can you send it? This is a great one to build my smooth jazz skills. Thanks.

  • @jaystrings I made the backing myself, but I have send you a mail with an upload location, check YT mail.

  • @Hv358 got it, thanks - but can't open it. suggestions? I eagerly await hearing it

  • @jaystrings it's a zip file. Use winzip or winrar to unpack it.

  • are those p 90's?

  • @prototypep4 The neck PU is the original mini-humbucker found on the '76 model, there was also one in the bridge position but I replaced that with a (vintage) Super Distortion from Dimarzio. The mini-humbucker in the neck sounds so sweet, I'll never replace that one.

  • @Hv358 I played on a '76 Gibson Les Paul left handed, with those pickups, and is was signed my Les Paul craved in with a Knife, and I loved it!!! Those pickup's sound amazing!

  • Beautiful singing tube lead-tone - superb feeling in playing & style - cool fat backing-track - well done! Cheers!

  • Love your sound man. Who said smooth jazz is dead? As long as we keep making "good smooth" it won't die.

  • hey man what scales are you using in this?

  • yeahh real cool. nice one dude!

  • could u please send me the backing track too:D? i love it .. thanks

  • Cool!!

  • awesome!!!

  • Hi there i love this performance. An i think the backing track is wonderful. is there any chance you could send me an mp3 version of this backing track so i can practice my improvisation skills. I really want to be able to solo all over the guitar neck just like you do but atm i keep moving to frets and picking notes that dont sound right.

But this backing track would be a great help for me

    Thanks

  • @iceman7091 Hi, check your YT mail for the download.

  • @Hv358 can I get you to send me an mp3 of this backing? you are amazing to listen to, would love to jam to your backing

  • @iceman7091 I would also love this backing track as well. Can you as well send it to me too sir? Please and thank you.

  • Smooth -

  • what programs are u using?, the drums and the other stuff, the sound of the drums are really awsome.

  • @bryanurebs I used Band in a Box to make the backing. Used real instruments for the midi channels. Then I played the backing in Ableton Live and jammed along with it. Thanks for listening!

  • I really like the way you play that song. I would like to give it a try but I don't have band in a box. Is there another way I could have it. Thanks Serge

  • very good man....very good ;)

  • @bizzare1bizzare Well, thank you! :)

  • DId you ever try the ME-70 from Boss? Can you get good smooth jazz & fusion sounds with it?

  • @L4CES Never tried the ME-70, sorry.

  • I have both the GT-10 and BIAB. Can you post your RUFUS-style song (.MGU) and the corresponding realtracks? This song sounds freakin' great.

  • nice, I like your playing and sound!

    Keep on Rocking

  • Great Sound & Style! I really like that Lead-Tone ... also that cool backing-track!

    THANKS!

  • Nice job!!! What song did you use on the band in a box? I really would like to play along with that!

    Thanks joey

  • @1978lespaul It was a Style I used, was named Smooth Jazz. I hussled some Styles and Songs, cutted and pasted some bars here and there. If you want, I can send you the backing I made, or upload it to some free site.

  • Nice job!!! What song did you use on the band in a box? I really would like to play along with that!

    Thanks joey

  • this is not jazz! its good for blues improv but this is not jazz

  • nice job dude really like what your play i just got gt 10 and love it

  • Are you just doing pentatonic with some major thrown in?

  • chromatic? or are you playing modes based off of ionian? minor/major?

  • @THEinspectigator Mixing ionian minor and major scales, I think ;)

  • @Hv358 ... ionian = major scale, Aeolian = minor scale

  • men,, how long have you been playing jazz.??? ^_^

coz, i'm about two months learning jazz/blues... and i think i still suck at playing improvisation for jazz......

  • @kebyonatin I have a blues background which you can hear in this jam I guess. When I recorded this I played for about a year, (after a very long break from playing,) all in all I play for about 7, 8 years now.

  • oh, it does really takes time..^_^

    tnx for answering...

  • Nice tones!!....peace :o)

  • Hey brother could you send me the back track and MIDI file you took from GT-10 ... nice playing, Congrats!!

  • MARVIN GAYE - WHATS GOING ON

your improvising in that same harmony :o)

  • @Arkar133 I listened to what's going on, just now, but you are absolutely right! You got some incredible ears. :)

  • that is one badass song and guitar

  • were do you get your backin tracks from

  • @GodsMuscian Made this myself, sent me a pm and I'll send it to you if you like.

  • i want to start to play jazz ... i like.

can you send me some jazz scales?

  • like it :)

  • are you connect to any amp??

  • No amp was used, just GT-10 to PC.

  • Sounds really good!

  • is epiphone or gibson your guitar?

  • It's a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop.

  • Nice feeling, and playing.. Except the aeolian and some flat 5ths what other scale do you use here..?

  • Unfortunately I am pretty bad in theory, think I am just using a minor blues scale mixed with some aeolian mode and some flat 5ths.

  • Very good!

  • Very nice!

  • this sounds so amazing man it flows so nicely! can i ask you how you learned how to play smooth jazz, your methods of practice, and influence? Ive been playing guitar a while now and im extremely interested in learning jazz but i dont know mant smooth jazz artists where the main instrument is the guitar. because many or them are sax and such. Please lend me any advice you might have. I would really appreciate it man. Thanks =]

  • Nowadays I like many styles of music from classic to metal but I started out with blues music. I am not a pure jazz guy but you might listen to some music with Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Chuck Loeb, Wes Montgomery, groups like Fourplay, Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets, Metro, etc. Thanks for watching and your comment!

  • It sounds very good, and it'svery nice playing, but it sounds more like smooth rocky and little bluesy

  • Yes, its a little bluesy, rocky, latin even maybe, Smooth Jazz was the name of the style used in Band in a Box. I just hussled some songs and styles in band in a box. to make the backing. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

  • Henk... you play so smooth.... nice to listen....

  • I tried to drag the "Satriani" patch into the window, but an error says "Cannot read files of this type".

  • Hello, the newbie is back ;).

I downloaded your patch but i dont know what to do with it. I have Librarian and it works perfectly, i just dont know how to import your patch to the program. Help please :) again :P

  • what kind of les paul is this? those pickups are "narrow". wtf?

  • Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop '76, those narrow pickups are the original mini-humbuckers found on this model.

  • wow. cool... nice playing anyway :D

  • elo mate, i asume you use boss gt 10, can u plz tell me a few things on it since im considering getting it, right, i dont need an amp do i if i were to get this, just output speakers, next, i was wondering the usb connection, say i connect guitar to boss, boss to pc via usb, can the output sound output through pc soundcard speakers?

plz reply, btw you sound rly profesional

    keep up dude

    :D

  • You don't need an amp. Guitar to GT-10, GT-10 to PC with USB. I have connected a 2.1 speakersystem to the GT-10 headphone output for monitoring purposes. (which normally is attached to my soundcard) If you got recording software, all output (backingtrack, your live performance, etc) is redirected to the GT-10. For output on the GT-10 you have phones, digital out or the normal guitar jacks (L/R or mono) For home recording a cheap 2.1 speakersystem will do. (having a subwoofer is great)

  • hey! what's all this stuf if GT-10? i want to know =D

  • sweet, thats wat i thought of doing too, im looking up for the best guitar effects processor, i found alot that its boss gt 10 vs pod x3 live, what do you think?

i use guitar rig 3, its ok but nowhere were near good enough to me tbh, coz it just has a few metal amps, the rest very plain, and non nice clean sounds reverbs are dull, ever heard of guitar rig 3?

  • Think both, X3 and GT-10, are in the same league. Try both if you can and see what you like. In general I think the amp simulations are somewhat better in X3 but regarding effects and control I think GT-10 has the edge. I used Guitar rig 3 before I had a GT-10 and my first three clips on youtube are made with Guitar Rig 3. I found only a few sounds usable. I used it as a plug-in with Ableton Live which was nice. GT-10 is quite an improvement over GR 3 though.

  • Hey dude, I like your playing, I was kind of wondering if you have the tab for that song, let me know, thanks and bless you

  • Besides some themes, its all improvised. So, no tabs. Maybe if I can find the time I'll write the tabs out... Thanks for listening!

  • just wondering if u found the time to write the tabs for this :P

been watching this for a long time now!

  • Tasty, very tasty. What was the BIAB style & what were running it through?

  • Hi, thanks for your comment!

    In BIAB:

    Category: Jazz (Smooth Jazz)

Style: Rufus Smooth Jazz Hip-Hop SD#28

Rendered that as a wav file and imported that in my recording software.

  • Great minds think alike. I run mine through a Ketron SD2, wav it into Sonar. Now to find that Rufus style. Again very nice.Thanks.

  • is that a goldtop ??

  • Gibson LP Deluxe Goldtop '76

  • awesome stuff

  • that was awesome

    jazz is pretty cool

i seem to be starting to stray from alot of the extremely fast stuff and just focus on slower smoother sounding stuff lately, because it just doesn't seem like there's alot of soul in some of the fast shred and metal music, unlike jazz and blues where its all about soul and the mood of the music.

  • dude, did you use to work for CEEFAX or ORACLE?

either way, this is bloody great stuff mate!

  • No history with those companies, but I do work in the IT industry, though.

  • which version of band in a box did you use

  • Band in a box 2008

  • SCHWEEEEEEEET!

  • nice sound and also the solo.

    keep on playing dude

  • Very cool - nice groove & melodic playing!

  • This sounds really warm mate! Well done !

  • very good sound...and the player too! :))

i have a GT6, it's all this presets already on GT10? can you tell me what you set on GT10 for this sound, maybe i can used on GT6 also!??? thank you!

  • Pre-amps are MS Higain and R-fier Vnt. The trick is to use a higain patch but just keep the volume of the guitar realy down, at 1 or 2. Use the neck pick-up with the tone setting at 2 or 3. I used a factory preset from the GT-10, FX Lead. (dont use the pitchshift).

  • Lol I've never ever really touched my volume and tone knobs I just leave them at full. Should I be playing around with them for different tones? And you're an amazing guitarist, that was some awesome music. Kind of reminds me of 'cool breeze' by Neal Schon

  • kool

  • beautiful

  • Enjoyed that very much!

  • that was nice dude

  • Nice job and feeling! Go on man!

  • great tone

  • superbe , bravo a toi

  • very good, clap clap

  • amazing tone.

  • Wonderful =)

  • great tone!!!

  • Thanks for the video and answer..

  • could you write your set up?

  • Hi, glad you liked it! Setup is pretty simple, Les Paul with GT-10 going into PC. I made the backing track with Band in a Box and mixed it with the solo in Ableton Live. No guitarsound was altered in Live except I had to EQ the backingtrack a bit since it was sounding quite "boomy". Patch used in GT-10 was Patch 09-4 FX Lead with just the factory presets. I used the neck pick up (gibson mini-humbucker)for the solo. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

  • hey dude, thats pretty amazing, great playing. I bought a gt-10 last week but i am having problems playing it directly through my laptop. Any ideas? How did you set up yours? Cheers man

  • Thanks for the comment! For recording, I am using the advanced Boss USB driver, USB cable to my PC, with USB connection set to Advanced in the GT-10 setup (see manual). ASIO driver in my software (Ableton Live). If you just want to hear sound from your laptop I think a cable from the GT-10 headphone connection to your laptop's line-in will do. I recommend using a 2-1 (2 speakers and a subwoofer)set though, even a cheap one can sound great.

  • nice sound!!

    nice music!
