Richter,Horo,Zimmerman,Arrau(no grt fave of mine generally)very logical and Cortot's style in Chopin is really right here Moravec,Argerich,Rubinstein?laterrec doesn't make any sense in the ballade.I grew up with Rub so it was sad to listen sev times to him in this and not follow or simply disagree. Maybe I need to rethink?Teaching this he makes sense. Moravecseems odd.He has this big rep in Chopin.I don't know why.I've studied interpretation adn i dont see worth of his choices.
I believe this is the version he recorded in 1929. Too much pushing and pulling with the tempos for my taste, but, as always with Cortot, there are many really beautiful things.
@gtimny I totally agree. I don't like what he's doing with the tempo most of the time. He should just let it flow. too much rubato. But the performance has several very beautiful and unique moments.
Dreams the music!??! Have you ever played piano?? If you do, don't dream! It could very soon end in a nightmare!!

if anyone wants to learn this piece, i suggest learning the cortot's edition..
it gives almost a step-by-step instruction..

He really points at the main melodic line in the left hand. Very original interpretation. One of the best.
