how do you work with the fps?and how do you decide how long the bouncing ball action needs to be? when i tried this with other number combinations (for example changing the fps to 24fps or making the length 20frames for faster bouncing), the bouncing ball had serious spasms when i exported it as a swf file. it wouldn't loop nicely.

i have flash cs4. i did all that is shown in the video but i think i miss something. it goes all well until i add the squeeze effect to the ball. i use classic tween (the motion tween doesnt create the animation, donno why) the classic tween creates the movement of the ball but not the squeeze. when the ball bounces back up to the start point it doesnt get back to his normal shape but remains stretched till the last frame where it suddenly becomes round again. anybody knows why? thanks

Are you using CS4? If so you'll want to use classic tweens instead of motion tweens when using this method (though it's obviously still possible to do it with new tweens, just slightly different)

I can't really help you in any other way than to just advise you to watch it again and make sure you copy it perfectly. You may have made a mistake on a keyframe if the ball isn't moving.

did you ever study animation priciples? dont get me wrong its a good tutorial, but a give a d minus for realsim as a ball bouncing would gradually lose momentum thus would bounce back to the starting point so prehaps you should do it gradually coming to a stop that would look mint and a hell of alot more realistic

Ugh...again, let me state; this is simply a tutorial. There's absolutely no intention to make this a realistic bounce, it's simply a way for Flash learners to grasp the basics of the tools used.

Obviously the perpetual motion in the video is simply to highlight the ability to loop frames and create repetetive animation in Flash.

Uhmmm...on mine, i actually eased in...and it looks better. Ease in, makes it so, it goes fast in the beginning, and slower the further it gets. But in real life, if you dropped a ball from a tower or somewhere high, the speed would increase with time. So ease in is more realistic

The best way to do it is to ease in on the first motion tween, and ease out on the second motion tween (to make it look like a continuous loop). It's the way I normally do it, but in the video for some reason I forgot to add the easing, and scrambled to add that part with the easing out, in the editing.
