@EriksImprov I use a Bloggie. It's an inexpensive Sony camera that can record in full HD. I haven't really researched other HD cameras though. Bloggie isn't the best, but it's great for the price.

Well, props for taking the trouble, but other commentators are correct: Concave analog > convex, for reasons similar to how it's better on the triggers. Nintendo agrees; the 3DS employs this design. Convex allows the thumb's point of impact to roll around. The kindest thing to say about that is that at least one could get used to it, but doing so is a crutch. Every facet of the PS3 controller design (barring D-pad) exists for legacy reasons, and manifestly not because it's the best approach.

I wish I'd come across your video before I pulled my controller apart and cleaned it. Spent ages trying to reassemble the bloody thing.

I got the more original controller style; and my console is the original premium. It's only had 1 send-off for the graphics card and I play it on average 5 days a week. Soon I need to buy the new console as BF3 beta really stressed my system since my current has overclocked everything and a broken eject button. The slim is underclocked so should run fine.

You should have mentioned (or make an annotation) that when removing the rumble packs you should not pull them from the wires. I have disassembled a lot of controllers and I have found that the wires can get very brittle and brake easily.
