@OpurumD have a feeling it was down to timing; this was released near the PS1 Jpns launch and at the end of the fighting game boom. It's a pretty polished game, but that doesn't come across at a glance which probably didn't help any either.
It's funny. This game is based on real TKD tourney rules and conditions. But in real life, K'O'ing the ref like this would be instant disqualification. =)
@NeoErtation tbh, I can't recall how I beat him in the past as it had been 5+yrs since I'd last played when I made this vid, but thanks for the advice.
Same here! I should make a music video for this game. Even though the theme is TKD, the "You're The Best Around" off the Karate Kid soundtrack fits it perfectly
I guess KO'ing the ref made things a bit more dramatic.

I've played this game numerous times, and I wonder why it was never released in English. I still pick it back up from time to time, though.

No shit,I know it's a game. I was talking about "realism" in terms of the RULES of the sport which this game is supposedly based on.
Misconduct in the ring is still covered by the rules. So kicking the ref would still be a part of it.
Anything else such as arrest etc has nothing to do with the rules anymore.
I don't have a problem with it. I did actually find the humour in it.
Next time you want to be a smartass, know what the other person is talking about.

I had always wanted to see a video of this game in action, after seeing the preview photo of it in EGM.
I believe they said that this game is a good way to learn how Kim Kap Hwan trained. Heh.
