It's big business because it's mostly illegal. Duh.
Btw why do you think most people don't brew their own alcohol? They are too lazy/busy.
just because you cant smoke enough pot to overdose like alcohol that doesnt mean pot still cant fuck you up..especially when people are smoking from pipes and bongs they dont know what else is in their
good to see that they agree on something last episode i saw jessee walked out really pissed of i dont know this other guys but i think jessee ventura is a fking cool guy who is not afraid of speak his mind
Ill start off as i blaze everyday.. but we wouldnt make zero dollars if legalized and taxed.. go you relize how much money the gov't makes for arresting a kid with a gram of weed.. make him go to court.. court fee is like 2 grand for the ten mins ur there.. and when i went there was like 40 kids all for the same shit..thats why it isnt legal. 420all day
The ONLY thing I see wrong is the possibility of getting others high from second hand smoke, but again, it should be treated like a cigarette or like alcohol. can't do it in public places around children, and cant do it while you're driving etc. Just the basic shit. Its a choice and it honestly doesn't effect you all that much. Jeez.... we have plants you can smoke that are legal that are way more intense than marijuana or equal to it, for instance: Salvia. Which is rightfully legal imo
good points he makes. not to mention the fact that alcohol consumption creates more social problems in general: increased risk of domestic violence, increased risk of random violent assault, participation in reckless activities like excessive gampling, etc. I can't believe that the proposition to legalize grass in California last year failed. How could that not get a majority?
Jesse Ventura and AAhnold Swarzenegger get back together to take down some alien scum and legalize pot at the same time. "i dont got time to bleed. " "Get to the choppa!" etc.
I want it to be legalized, but not because I smoke it or anything. But just to end the complaining of the potheads.
To constantly hear pissing and moaning about how fellas want it legalized goes nowhere real quick. So let's just give them their bottles you know? Something to suck on to keep the bitching down.
Ventura is right about the alcohol as well. I think people should be fined out the ass several times over for driving under the influence, of alcohol or pot, legal or not.
@TropicalShirtTy The tax money from pot would be outstanding. im not a pot smoker but I know plenty and we would benifit from the taxes on a major scale. Also it would create jobs from the growers. Now that would be a Greene job lol!
All drugs should be legal and you should be left alone as long as what you do does not hurt those around you. Its the "misbehaving" that needs to be regulated.
The main argument here is that YOU not the government or church or any other group has ownership over your own body and person. If this isn't true then you can't argue for any other right.
It shouldn't matter if you are putting pure poison into your body - its your body. As long as what you do is to you (or CONSENSUALY with another).
@dudelvup i disagree with you. "as long as what you do does not hurt those around you"thats the problem,if pot was legal people would smoke it more often around their kids. people do it all the time with cigeretes( i do see thta happen alot with many diffrent people whether its in car or house) and i think pot or any other drug wouldnt be so diffrent.
@halla4763 You raise a point but the POTENTIAL to do harm to others cannot be used as rational basis for making something illegal. If that were true then what would that do to our second amendment rights (guns are desinged as leathal force - its what they ARE)? We have a right to protect ourselves and what belongs to us using firearms as a means to that end; the fact that there is a potential for harm is not justified reason to take that away from us.
@halla4763 Addressing your last point still. Also, your objection "if pot was legal people would smoke it more often around their kids" doesn't recognize how many people do not have kids or smoke now but now around kids. Also, are you willing to be consistent with that objection? In other words are you ready to make alcohol and tobacco illegal also (i grew up with family bbq's where everyone would be having beer and lots of it).
In my opinion that is the only reason why it is illegal. yeah tobacco can be a gateway drug too. But how hard would it be to completely prohibit that? They just don't want to add another gateway drug to the list. Even though they know it isn't harmful for you
What I meant was mainly that alcohol really does impair judgement and people are more likely to be trying the next "level," so to speak. Any substance or even thought process can, over time, become addicting. Making things illegal in no way addresses the issue, and history shows, can have negative results.
@Assaultpredator Yeah, I know, I support and advocate legalization and regulation of most currently prohibited psychoactive substances. Prohibiton ultimately creates far more detrimental issues than drugs themselves. I also support and advocate freedom of choice - do whatever you want, as long as nobody is brainwashed or physically harmed without consent.
Technically, any substance, activity, or stimulus is general that modulates release of dopamine is potentially psychologically addictive.
@numbaoneballah - If your going to be claiming facts, lets see where you get your information. Do some research before you start making claims of facts you can't back up. Have you ever smoked pot before? If so, did it make you wanna rob a bank and take the money to go buy some crack? Where do you come to this conclusion that Marijuana is a gateway drug?
This isn't even an argument. The United States is a free country. You should have the right to put whatever the fuck you want into your body as long as you aren't harming others or being a public nuisance.
yes... once again you have misquoted me. i didnt say that, Abe91195 did. Im not putting down marijuana, its just common sence, inhaling heat and smoke from anything will do damage. thats as simple as i can put it... are you a crackhead?
@jake42091 Cannabis smoke is not a definitive precursor to lung cancer. Delta-9-THC promotes a protective effect against some carcinogens in cannabis smoke.
I suggest that you read the following article if you would like to know more about cannabis smoking in relation to lung cancer.
Cannabis and Tobacco Smoke are Not Equally Carcinogenic- Robert Melamede / Harm Reduction Journal 2005 / PMCID: PMC1277837
I smoked this shit this one time that made me feel like I was out of my body, it was fucking scary! Thought I was a dead man...Been over 11 years & have not touched in since.
Marijuana can kill you....albeit you would need to smoke approximately 1500 pounds of it within a 15 to 30 minute time frame. Let's legalize it already.
No, not if it can kill you. I know people who smoke approximately 1499 pounds in a 15 to 30 minute time frame and I'd hate to see them OD by accident from smoking that extra pound.
@MattDLD333 I support and advocate the legelization and regulation of cannabis in addition to many other drugs.
But, for the record, you don't have to smoke cannabis in order to ingest a fatal overdose.
The estimated lethal dose of intravenous synthetic delta-9-THC for a human is around 30 mg per kg (i.e. 2100 mg/70 kg). Now, of course, that would be a lethal overdoes of "THC," not "cannabis." But, delta-9-THC is a constituent of cannabis, therfore a lethal intravenous overdose...
"...THC present in cannabis smoke should exert a protective effect against pro-carcinogens that require activation... Thus, cannabinoids inhaled in cannabis smoke physiologically reduce the potential amplification of carcinogens in smoke that results from biologically produced free radicals... Furthermore, THC inhibits the enzyme necessary to activate some of the carcinogens found in smoke."- Cannabsi and tobacco smoke are not equally carcinogenic/ Robert Melamede/ PMCID: PMC1277837
@B10HaZaRD Thank you, I try my best to keep my debates balanced.
Legalization and regulation of most currently prohibited psychoactive substances is the most logical and beneficial solution to the alleged "War on Drugs."
In theory, the "gateway pattern" is usually initiated by the use of sugar, following caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and then other illicit drugs. Various forms of sugar are the true "gateway drugs."
Millions of people will die as result of keeping it illegal. Millions of people have to go through loopholes get it legally. Trillions have been spent incarcerating people for this harmless drug. Millions of people have been incarverated as a result of keeping this illegal. Keeping this illegal is destroying more lives than if they kept it legal. So looking at these facts and the facts that Ive left out it is unpatriotic because its destroying this great nation.
@TheCaliCapitalist Death? lol "Millions of people will die as result of keeping it illegal"
And where do you get this from. People also die from using drugs, not from not using them. But you are right many people do go thru loopholes getting it legally.
@sandroeleven - Yet our government allows the selling of drugs such as alcohol and tobacco. yes that's right alcohol and tobacco are drugs. Back in the day, what was more American than Budweiser and Marlboro? BTW alcohol was once an illegal substance. Look up the Prohibition, same thing that happened with that is happening with the war on drugs, juts now it's on a massive scale. The bottom line is that you can't regulate everything and everyone.
Stop the pretend war on drugs, stop wasting money... The only reason it isn't legal is because of the impact it would have on the pharmaceutical companies and other industries related to what can be done with marijuana other than just smoking it!
It's natural not made in a lab. it has numerous legitimate medicinal uses, (IE: sever Chronic pain) with No negative side affects. research the pills and the damage they do, not to mention the severe side affects!
Marijuana won't do anything for chronic pain, but it does have other medical uses such as restoring the appetites of chemo patients. Regardless it should be legal.
@fredlburrows "Cannabinoid receptors and their endogenous ligands are present at supraspinal, spinal and peripheral levels. Cannabinoids suppress behavioral responses to noxious stimulation and suppress nociceptive processing through activation of cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptor subtypes... Endocannabinoids serve as synaptic circuit breakers and regulate multiple physiological and pathological conditions, e.g. regulation of food intake, immunomodulation, inflammation, analgesia, cancer,...
@fredlburrows ... addictive behavior, epilepsy and others... Endocannabinoids modulate pain under physiological conditions. Pharmacological approaches that enhance levels of endocannabinoids by inhibiting enzymes controling endocannabinoid deactivation or by blocking their reuptake consequently exhibit therapeutic potential...
@fredlburrows ... It is clear that the endocannabinoid system is regulated following conditions of injury."- The Endocannabinoid System and Pain/ CNS Neurol Disord Drug Targets. 2009/ PMCID: PMC2834283
@fredlburrows I know a man who severely injured his back ten+ years ago. He is prescribed opioid-based medications for the pain, but he tells me that cannabis helps relieve his pain better than opioids, and he does not have to worry about becoming physiologically dependent on cannabis, but that's not because he's dependent on opioids. He will periodically taper off opioids and just take ibuprofen and cannabis, low-grade cannabis to be specific.
I just talked to a man the other day who had a broken hip from when he was much younger and has screws inside his body keeping it together. He said that cannabis helps his pain better than opioids, so I'm thinking that it just depends on the type of injury and the individual. Personally, cannabis does nothing for my pain.
@fredlburrows That's good to hear, for the man that you spoke to, that is. Nevertheless, I'm sorry that cannabis won't help relieve your pain. Perhaps, a potent Indica dominant strain of cannabis combined with an opioid would increase the analgesia.
@nilbud doesn't sound very free market to me choosing who goes bust or not based on something other then being an american company that employs Americans, invested into by Americans, and pays taxes., and with all that money has the flow picked up at all? your other message to me on kucinich, who would be in my "camp" on this says no it did not, and will not unless we give more or force them with a scam like that which created the housing crisis.
@maj1kninja07 The bail out was for the banks which are an intrinsic part of the flow of money throughout the whole system. The private prison camps can be allowed to go bust.
That fucking Opie guy is a complete fucking asshole idiot!!!!! He's the kind of little fuck that would turn his parents in for beating him. the kind of little fuck that push someone to beat the piss out of him just to call the cops. Worthless little fuck!
@Cepical There are carcinogens in weed, you're not just misinformed you're attempting to misinform others about their health, stay classy. next time you make a pronouncement get the fucking facts right teabagger.
@nilbud There are Carcinogens in the pesticides that are sprayed on poorly kept weed, but weed itself is safe. And teabagger? I can't believe that stupid ass party actually named themselfs "teabaggers." I am not a teabagger except in FPS and I am not spreading misinformation. Cancer in weed is misinformation.
@Cepical yeah i agree i also teabag the shit out of noob's in fps & other's game's cod4,battlefield,counterstrike,etc FTW! I fucking own i got 153kills one server in cod4 lol i also use nuke's in any game it allow's me too pisses off the noob's but i only do it once both side's have gotten their fair share of kicking that ass xD.
@Cepical anything burning creates carcinogens. If you smoke weed out of a pipe, youll see the black residue. That right there has carcinogens in it, which could cause cancer, which you inhale. But cancer actually in the plant itself is far off. You could make thc pills, cook the thc into foods, and vaporize the weed and the chance of cancer from that is almost none. you die faster from breathing in fumes from cars and raw gas from the pump.
@invanz0 You're right that combusted plant material = carcinogen, but there's more to this particular picture. There's never been a single documented incidence of lung cancer as a result of long-term pot smoking; probably (definitely?) because the cannabinoids themselves are actually anti-carcinogens that have been shown to shrink tumours in lab studies, not cause them. 'Cannabinoids: Potential Anti-Cancer Agents', by Manuel Guzman is a good study to start with. There are others as well.
no risk of cancer from smoking pot. none. tobacco smoke is fundamentally different from pot smoke. They contain different chemical makeups not to mention the huge amount of horrific additives put into cigarettes. Pot has actually been shown to reduce the chances of getting cancer. there is a difference between real science and scientific propaganda backed by interest groups. there are no pot companies backing sci. research to help sell their product. the same is not true of the tabacco industry.
@NWOIsANoGo I think cancers or disease caused by smoking weed stem from the fact that the common vessels for consuming it contain chemicals, like the rolling papers or the swishers, but using vaporizers eliminates those
@nilbud google marijuana and cancer, the hits that come back are at least five-to-one in favor of pot either being a treatment for chemotherapy or an actual cancer risk reducer and tumor inhibitor. All of the articles in favor of pot properly refrences their sources of information, those against pot simply make bold claims and present half-truths. Not to mention real world experience; a majority of people I know have been smoking pot for 10+ years, NONE have expericenced adverse health effects.
@NWOIsANoGo Really, so a bunch of people under 40 are not getting lung cancer. Well if that's the way you reckon things then Bob Marley was riddled with cancer and he's more famous so I win. Burn stuff and inhale it, it's carcinogenic. The black burnt bits on toast are carcinogenic.
@nilbud I know people who are over 50 years old and have been smoking since their teens and once again no detremental health affects. Do some reasearch. Bob Marley did and die from cancer but it was a type of melanoma ie skin cancer, it started in his toe and spread to his brain and lungs. I don't think smoking even cigareets can cause skin cancer.
Why do stoners discredit all scientific studies that claim marijuana causes cancer, but give credibility to the scientific studies that claim tobacco causes cancer???
I can never figure that out. If we want to be logical, shouldn't we just discredit the studies that make these claims completely, because cancer depends also on genetics and environment, not just what you smoke.
@BrettDixonMusic There ya go. See, the Stoners like to pick and choose what is fact. Since they smoke bud, it's not bad for you and any scientific research that says so is just pure propaganda, but since they might not smoke cigarettes, well, those scientific research studies are factual and can't be wrong. It's ridiculous and very inconsistent. I say either you give credibility to all of them or none of them.
The way I see it, if we really knew what caused cancer, no one would get it.
There IS NO risk of cancer in the scientific literature on cannabis. Heavy smokers get nothing more severe than bronchitis. Nigotine kills 400 americans per year. Noone has ever been reported to die from accute or chronic illness associated with cannabis. You can imagine cancer if you want but you cannot make up your own facts.
im not guna fight with you but i just thing some of the things u said arent true. but whatever. no one has ever got cancer from just smoking marijuana
@shabadoody You can get cancer from combustion and inhalation of just about anything. (oxidation which renders unstable particles) The body was not designed to inhale smoke. Marijuana smoke is considerably less carcinogenic than tobacco smoke, but is not guaranteed to not give you cancer. As far as anti-neoplastic potential goes, the data has not been clear. I've been part of several studies in mice and we haven't had a clear correlative affect.
@BrendanIsCool "The body was not designed to inhale smoke." Actually it is. Our dentition has evolved to eat cooked foods, you can't cook food without a fire, the chimney was invented in around 1100AD. So we've been eating food cooked on fires for a long long time.

Takiado 9 months ago
good points he makes. not to mention the fact that alcohol consumption creates more social problems in general: increased risk of domestic violence, increased risk of random violent assault, participation in reckless activities like excessive gampling, etc. I can't believe that the proposition to legalize grass in California last year failed. How could that not get a majority?

All drugs should be legal and you should be left alone as long as what you do does not hurt those around you. Its the "misbehaving" that needs to be regulated.
The main argument here is that YOU not the government or church or any other group has ownership over your own body and person. If this isn't true then you can't argue for any other right.
It shouldn't matter if you are putting pure poison into your body - its your body. As long as what you do is to you (or CONSENSUALY with another).
dudelvup 11 months ago
@dudelvup i disagree with you. "as long as what you do does not hurt those around you"thats the problem,if pot was legal people would smoke it more often around their kids. people do it all the time with cigeretes( i do see thta happen alot with many diffrent people whether its in car or house) and i think pot or any other drug wouldnt be so diffrent.
halla4763 11 months ago
@halla4763 You raise a point but the POTENTIAL to do harm to others cannot be used as rational basis for making something illegal. If that were true then what would that do to our second amendment rights (guns are desinged as leathal force - its what they ARE)? We have a right to protect ourselves and what belongs to us using firearms as a means to that end; the fact that there is a potential for harm is not justified reason to take that away from us.
dudelvup 11 months ago
@halla4763 Addressing your last point still. Also, your objection "if pot was legal people would smoke it more often around their kids" doesn't recognize how many people do not have kids or smoke now but now around kids. Also, are you willing to be consistent with that objection? In other words are you ready to make alcohol and tobacco illegal also (i grew up with family bbq's where everyone would be having beer and lots of it).
dudelvup 11 months ago
Marijuana is a gateway drug. That is a fact.
In my opinion that is the only reason why it is illegal. yeah tobacco can be a gateway drug too. But how hard would it be to completely prohibit that? They just don't want to add another gateway drug to the list. Even though they know it isn't harmful for you
numbaoneballah 1 year ago
@numbaoneballah It's as much of a gateway drug as Alcohol. If you're against legalization of Marijuana, then you're against freedom.
HIMYNAMEISEVAN 1 year ago

"THAT IS A FACT"
you are an ignorant tool. the only real gateway drug is alcohol, as it really inhibits your thinking, AND probably cigs as a gateway drug.
Assaultpredator 11 months ago
@Assaultpredator Tobacco and alcohol are potential "gateway drugs," however, sugar and caffeine are credible "gateway drugs," as well.
CNSagent 8 months ago
@CNSagent
What I meant was mainly that alcohol really does impair judgement and people are more likely to be trying the next "level," so to speak. Any substance or even thought process can, over time, become addicting. Making things illegal in no way addresses the issue, and history shows, can have negative results.
Assaultpredator 8 months ago
@Assaultpredator Yeah, I know, I support and advocate legalization and regulation of most currently prohibited psychoactive substances. Prohibiton ultimately creates far more detrimental issues than drugs themselves. I also support and advocate freedom of choice - do whatever you want, as long as nobody is brainwashed or physically harmed without consent.
Technically, any substance, activity, or stimulus is general that modulates release of dopamine is potentially psychologically addictive.
CNSagent 8 months ago
@CNSagent
Well put :)
I agree wholeheartedly!

B10HaZaRD 8 months ago
This isn't even an argument. The United States is a free country. You should have the right to put whatever the fuck you want into your body as long as you aren't harming others or being a public nuisance.
magicmedscc 1 year ago

No, not if it can kill you. I know people who smoke approximately 1499 pounds in a 15 to 30 minute time frame and I'd hate to see them OD by accident from smoking that extra pound.
fredlburrows 1 year ago
@MattDLD333 I support and advocate the legelization and regulation of cannabis in addition to many other drugs.
But, for the record, you don't have to smoke cannabis in order to ingest a fatal overdose.
The estimated lethal dose of intravenous synthetic delta-9-THC for a human is around 30 mg per kg (i.e. 2100 mg/70 kg). Now, of course, that would be a lethal overdoes of "THC," not "cannabis." But, delta-9-THC is a constituent of cannabis, therfore a lethal intravenous overdose...

Various forms of sugar are the true "gateway drugs."

fredlburrows 1 year ago
@fredlburrows I know a man who severely injured his back ten+ years ago. He is prescribed opioid-based medications for the pain, but he tells me that cannabis helps relieve his pain better than opioids, and he does not have to worry about becoming physiologically dependent on cannabis, but that's not because he's dependent on opioids. He will periodically taper off opioids and just take ibuprofen and cannabis, low-grade cannabis to be specific.

I just talked to a man the other day who had a broken hip from when he was much younger and has screws inside his body keeping it together. fredlburrows 1 year ago
@fredlburrows That's good to hear, for the man that you spoke to, that is. Nevertheless, I'm sorry that cannabis won't help relieve your pain. Perhaps, a potent Indica dominant strain of cannabis combined with an opioid would increase the analgesia.

@Cepical anything burning creates carcinogens. If you smoke weed out of a pipe, youll see the black residue. That right there has carcinogens in it, which could cause cancer, which you inhale. But cancer actually in the plant itself is far off. You could make thc pills, cook the thc into foods, and vaporize the weed and the chance of cancer from that is almost none. you die faster from breathing in fumes from cars and raw gas from the pump.
invanz0 1 year ago
@invanz0 You're right that combusted plant material = carcinogen, but there's more to this particular picture. There's never been a single documented incidence of lung cancer as a result of long-term pot smoking; probably (definitely?) because the cannabinoids themselves are actually anti-carcinogens that have been shown to shrink tumours in lab studies, not cause them. 'Cannabinoids: Potential Anti-Cancer Agents', by Manuel Guzman is a good study to start with. There are others as well.
skullface89 1 year ago
no risk of cancer from smoking pot. none. tobacco smoke is fundamentally different from pot smoke.
NWOIsANoGo 1 year ago

All of the articles in favor of pot properly refrences their sources of information, those against pot simply make bold claims and present half-truths. Not to mention real world experience; a majority of people I know have been smoking pot for 10+ years, NONE have expericenced adverse health effects.
NWOIsANoGo 1 year ago
@NWOIsANoGo Really, so a bunch of people under 40 are not getting lung cancer. Well if that's the way you reckon things then Bob Marley was riddled with cancer and he's more famous so I win. Burn stuff and inhale it, it's carcinogenic. The black burnt bits on toast are carcinogenic.
