wonderful. tell me do you have your ownarrangements of this piece written down? if so, will you send it to me or sell it to me? I love the way you play this tune.....
When you get into stride, now you're talking about jazz, and improvisation was an essential to stride playing, despite the publication of sheet music by the composers like Johnson and Waller. You're right about St. Louis Blues. It wouldn't have been played as jazz anywhere but in New Orleans or by New Orleans musicians when it was published, but stride is a whole 'nother can of worms.
I really like what you bring to the tunes you choose. This is no exception. The slower tempo does emphasize the melancholy of the lyrics. It even helps as a tutorial!
Loved your performance.....by chance I had recorded a version yesterday and came by yours this morning....thought that I would post it here to offer another take on a great tune.
Lovely. Some of your recent Joplin videos contain flourishes that I question (a little), but this is stripped down and just right. I can hear the words, even though there's no one singing. Controlled and powerful.
WOW !! FANTASTIC CORY !!!---i feel people play this piece way to fast--where as NOVELTY RAGS are generally FAST PIECES---BLUES are for the most part --slower pieces---i think this is one of you're best of you're ragtime/early jazz recordings!!!!!---GREAT JOB !!!!!!
I like your playing whatever it is, and NO I am not going to be the least bit critical about it. Play it the way you want and Thank You for all of you postings of the beautiful music that you provide for us (that have much less playing ability than you)!! (and will admit it)
You have to accept the fact that each pianist is different. No need for a big discussion, just sit back and enjoy each one for their own playing. Regards,
Beautiful piece, amazing performance!

Great version ... I am fascinated
It would be possible to have the sheet of this song?
I'm considering watching the video but is not so simple.
With the score would be much simpler.
Thanks and compliments again

That was a lazy Blues, a bit slow for my personal taste. I liked the habannera ostinato bits, though (3:55-4:15, for instance).
