You know it's funny how Chris Hülsbeck himself named this tune the "Desert Rocks" in his audio CD.. try searching that in youtube, you get a different tune from Turrican 1.
Awesome, this would actually work very well as a drum n bass tune. Infact it sounds like all of Pendulem's influences rolled into one at the intro haha!
@Nhirlathothep It's hard not to look back at these games and not think that they are better in some ways to new games. I tend to find a lot of new games very generic and same looking. Where there were a lot of original games back for the Amiga :)
@critanime I totally agree with you. because information about how games and systems and well technology in general, is suppressed, you end up with standards. Standards that suck ass compared to what could be. If the people demand it, then, the businesses and companies would create it. The problem is majority isn't up to date so businesses can milk obsolete out of date shit for money.
@critanime this is why you see games with the same engines as other games. or new games being released with updated engines and that's it. Or why new systems aren't as powerful or versatile as they really should be. Part of that is due to today's current inflation...the cost to build and price to sell would be too high for it to be a practical thing, for the majority of people are middle class or less.
@G04i77A2 the other reason is the exact opposite, it's that the companies want to make as much money as they possibly can from the majority. Anyway, as long as this comment(s) are, It makes me sad and angry that mainstream businesses can get away with that kind of crap
Love Hülsbeck's rhythmical tunes, especially this one - he's up there with the legends of computer music i.e. Hubbard, Galway et al. Also this composition reminds me a bit of Jarre's Orient Express tune.
lol. i just noticed something. If you have headphones on, and take 1 off, then you only get part of the soundtrack. if you do it just after 1:55 the bass and the drums are in the left side only, and the theme and chords are in the right. i wonder if its because they used 2 speakers back then, maybe cause 1 speaker/channel had limited ability. In the old games the SFX tend to ´mute´ the music. like there is no more room in the channels for more sounds at once. Just thinking loud here :)
Wow sorry for the uber late reply. Bt internet has been acting up.
Basically Paula, the sound chip, was capable of running 4 sound channels. That meant two channels each for the left and right audio. How most of the sound was handled by Paula, meant you got the clear left and right distinction on the music.
Yeah me 2 in deed. the Amiga times were MAGIC, maybe because of our age ;O) I like the IK+ theme too, and some of the Lotus III themes :) Some Megaman themes are not bad either. Thx for the friend invite BTW :O)
Best amiga soundtrack!

My favourite track from the game, ever since I first tried a CU Amiga demo of it way, way back in the day.

Love his work and this brings back great memories. If there is a Hall of Fame for VG pioniers, he should definitely be in it.

I like the music to Akira for the Amiga. I love the music to Robocop as well for the C64. Both the loader and main game music.
