holy crap man can u help me? i want to do the same thing to my tpi 305 camaro i've got new headers im gonna put on it and i wanted to put a cam in it but a shop told me i had to change the transmission to if i was gonna do that. but can u show me ur exhaust design? like pics of it
hey man what would be the best cam for my 92 third gen? its got the stock305 nothing has been done to it except a flowmaster single in dual out muffler, idk what kind of muffler it is it had it when i bought it. but im going to put summit racing shorties on it sometime.
my father and i just picked up a 1980 camaro with a 305... only has 40000 miles on it.... it was in my aunts garage since 2005 and till now it only had 200 miles put on it.. the exhaust is all rusted and cracked in many places.
my dad an i want to put a exhaust system on that will give the car a nice sound but not a extreamly loud exhaust. if anyone could help me out just send me a message to let me know what u think...
honestly....just a comp 280H old skool stuff man...couldn't believe it worked as well as it did...got the cam used for free because i wiped the solid cam i had in the car
i have a 86 305 tbi it is not stock do you think that cam you have would be healthy for my 305 its badass ive ran 12.11 on slicks but to put the cherry on top ide love an idle like that but im only 16 dont know to much about cams and yes did all the work myself started it when i was 14
the camshaft that's in that motor is way too healthy for your tbi computer to be able to run without PROM tuning. your best bet is to give a camshaft manufacturer a call and get their opinion on what kinda camshaft you should run based on heads/compression/intake/weight/gear/converter, etc.
12.11 must have been 1/8mile because i've never seen a stock cammed/heads/tbi lo3 car run better than about lower 15's in the 1/4. good luck with it!
im sorry ive given the wrong info i was thinking of my 90 rs my 86 is carbed and my camao has vortec heads eldelbrock thunder series carb and intake jegs roller rockers flotech headers flowmaster 40s its port and polished forged pistons and a 75 shot of nos and you wouldnt happen to be matt walter would you
this camshaft will work well as long as you have the correct valve springs and proper clearance between the valve guides and retainers, though i think you'll have better luck with a camshaft that has about a 10* split between the intake and exhaust duration numbers, as well as something ground on a 112 lsa. comp cams makes some really nice nitrous specific camshafts that are close to this in specs, but will work better with your combo. you should give Comp Cams a call
this car was actually a factory v6 car. the 305 was an 85 block .030" over with forged rods and federal mogul hyper slugs with a set of worked 416's...
Nice car man that thing really hooks!, Ive got an 88 with a 383 Ive ran 12.88 at 108 on street tires, can I expect to lift the front tires on slicks? Ive got a th-350 3500 stall 3:90 gears and relocated hotchkis trailing arms, subframe connectors.
i suppose it's a possibilities...there's alot of factors. something to try if you haven't yet, is to take the front sway bar off. this does two things, the first and main thing is it allows the front suspension to articulate and send the weight to the back of the car. the other thing is it takes about 18lbs off the front of the car.
i got a 90 rs that im putting a pump gas 500hp 383 in, i could try and build the 700r4 to handle it but people say i should really use a turbo 400. what adapter kit did you use to install the turbo 350?
no adapter kit used. i modded the stock transmission crossmember to bolt to the transmission and used a jegster torque arm that moves the mounting point of the torque arm to the floor instead of the rear of the transmission.
i think it'll run like crap. the duration is pretty extreme and the lobe seperation is a little too tight for a stock ecm to know what to do with. if you went to a stand along injection system like a mega-squirt or FAST system, then you'd be able to tune it while you go. the stock ECM will handle it with lots of tuning, but it's alot to handle. it's really too much for a 305 without alot of supporting mods anyway.
sweet i have a 305 in my 83Z im going to swap it out for the 350 i have in the garage but your exhaust setup is the same as mine but i have headmen long tubes to 3 inch duels with the bullit race mufflers but its basicaly the same thing. i havent heard mine yet cause im still working on it but this video got me going haha sounds nice.
it is not, the compression has been bumped to 10.2:1 and it is sporting a comp magnum 280H camshaft along with alot of other extras. the car could make more power with a newer technology camshaft as the 280H is an old style camshaft with slow ramp speeds and single pattern specs.
sounds very nice man!

Was this orginally a TBI 305? Or was it a pre 86 motor that you put in? Either way, sounds very nice man. Well done.

very cool. good luck! any combo can be made to be efficient...the 305 in the camaro above has been 12.66@103.98mph on a 1.66 60' time.
