at 12 seconds that was our home of 18 years ...... we were hit worse Feb 22 and have never lived there since, and are now red zoned... footage like this is great to reflect back on. thanks
I'm only like a minutes drive from these streets but they got so fucked and ours were fine. But that was in September. February was a different story!
just for future ref i wasnt the dickhead rubber necking i juxt loaded the vid.i was the dickhead trying to get home to my family, its only human nature to want to know whats going on in ur country,town.....wish all u luck n happiness. im sori 2 those who took tis vid the wrong way
all done by HAARP>>! on 22.2.11 come on guys - the Illuminati do things this way, create the problem, monitor and suck up the energy from the reaction, them create the solution.. flying in troops from all over the world for a minor event, imprinting dependance and fake unity, for their new world order.. mean while its all their creation, thanks to their weather weapons.! Satan sure dont play fair.!
@DrLeavingsoon ok mr knowitall, i wasn't out sight seeing, i was helping my brother and his girlfriend move out of there house (that they lost) , best you know stories before you go judging
@abcnewzealand fair enough - I can only go with what I see. I was the chap with the Yellow army jeep helping the volunteers clean up most of those places you showed. In fact at 1:57 there's an intersection I shoveled clear two or three days after the quake. We saw a LOT of people with cameras drifting past, hands out the window; a lot of locals turning away, really, really upset. Just like what I saw here.
Oh, and take a compliment with grace, no matter how poorly its delivered.
thanks for posting this video , my house is the first one at the start of video as you turn into side street and it has long dark fence and large garage. i will be showing this to eqc as i did not get many photos , was too much in shock to take photos

@TheNomad546 What the fuck. I wasn't even talking to you, don't be immature and call me names and shit, I didn't even say anything stupid to you, so just fuck up and leave me alone.
@abcnewzealand Yea. KFC sucks. If they were Burger Baron coupons I might be moved to a little bit of sympathy but come on man. KFC? Yuck. On a lighter note, given that NZ has had 4000 aftershock quakes over the course of a year, they should make buildings that can withstand stuff like this. Like Japan.
This is mother nature & its a part of our natural existence- we've to understand that these things happen to people in less developed countries all the time & yet we want understanding & sympathy but those places get nothing or very little assistance. I'd say this is unfortunate but its a part of the natural enviro. Instead of undersanding mother nature & preparing ourselves for things we depend on Western tech & advancement having a fear of nature as we ourselves are rapidly destroying her.
@anglinthemtns hold on are you saying nz is less developed country? u obviusoly havn't been here. the only buildings that have fallen down are buildings that are 90+ years old, all other buildings are mostly in fine shape. NZ might be small but we deffintly arn't 'Lesser developed'. We have held up very well considering, example no deaths
@roger2307 That isn't what I meant- I implied people in 3rd world have these things happen a lot but we in the Western nations tend to not notice them unless reaching a certain threshold of extreme destruction. I'll also say that for a Western country NZ housing standards for renters is much lower than the average- no insulation, paper thin walls, etc...The reason people didn't get killed is because it happened at 4:30 am when people weren't working or out & about as usual, therefore less risk.
I was out and about with my camera, it's so hard to comprehend that this has happened. My home is undamaged and I didn't suffer from anything being broken inside. never lost my water supply or power so I have been so fortune. My thoughts are with you all who have lost everything and one of my friend's family has lost her home.
A reminder that what us Kiwis call home is actually just one big fault line, A BIG UPS to our infastructure as damage was nothing compared to Haiti and they were struck by the same magnitude. Amazing that no one died, still a big shock though....excuse the pun

I live in Mexicali, Mexico, and we have a earthquake of 7.2 ritcher and happend the same...is really hard the impression. in the sky the clouds are very strange, and the colors was unussual.

@policeman0187 New error indeed! It's pronounced Mayan Calendar, and it just ends. There is no written or drawn depictions of armageddon in any shape or form, only speculatory statements supported only by fear. You want to stop karma from venging our over pompous deeds, you better start killing off westerners and check whales and tigers into a speed dating type thing, pretty much take back the whole industrial revolution... Take down all the radio and electronic waves might help too..
@f00ky3w2oob Very close - That's the original, this is a cover by Gary Jules, one of those rare things, a cover that improves on the original. It is from the film Donnie Darko and the surreal context works very well. Great choice
this should be shown on NZ TV as a what can happen video clip, great choice of music as well......and most importantly......i hope you and your neighbours are all ok.......well, as ok as you can be...............from an aucklander.....not a JAFFA

You were one of the bloody rubberneckers pissing people off by sight-seeing in their wrecked streets.
Saving grace is... at least you made a video worthwhile as a good watermark.
So yeah, you suck for touring when people were at their most fragile, but you made something special out of it that's worth looking back on.
How the hell do I sum that up... Um... it's an awesome video.... asshole?
Nup too hard.... great vid, chum.
