@Assasin477owns The easiest way to fix this is to do a factory default restore. To do this, put your iPod touch into DFU mode. To do that, press and hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds. Then release the Power button but remain holding the Home button for 10 - 20 seconds. Then your iPod will be recognized by your computer and you can use iTunes to do a factory default restore.

@lolpankake you can always just format it in iTunes by pluging it in and iTunes will say there is an iPod in recovery mode... at this point if you have a back up on your computer then it can restore it to your backup, but if not you can start fresh... then once you have the normal 3.1.2 firmware or which ever one you choose on your iPod you can then rejailbreak... i would reccomend going with the new 4.2.1 jailbreak...
When I try to just restore it with iTunes it gets to the part where it says waiting for ipod, and on the ipod it comes up with the apple logo onscreen and a loading bar but never passes that part. Also I have the newest iTunes downloaded.

@JOEYMAN101100 what you can do is backup everything that you have via Rock's backup feature... you have to have a rock account which is free and it stores what you have downloaded... you then upgrade, rejailbreak and then let rock re-download everything... that has been the most effective method I have seen
@joseandres20fl If you have 4.0 you need to get the newest jailbreak for your iPod... you can check out jailbreakmatrix and see if you can jailbreak your iPod. Only the 2nd gen touch can be jailbroken with 4.0 and its in beta and crashes quite a bit... if you have a 3rd gen iPod then you will have to wait in order to jailbreak
@coolapontan98 Duh... it the newest jailbreak... obviously a video from November 2009 isn't going to have Spirit in it... this is a work around for people like me who have way too many apps or just don't care to upgrade to 3.1.3, or even 4.0 for that matter
I used "Spirit Jailbreak" which is an untethered jailbreak which means that you don't have to reboot your iPod ever. AND you can't turn your iPod off and on as many times as you want and you don't have to reboot. Even if your iPod dies, you can just plug it in and turn it right back on. I got a problem on this, when I click make it rain and the "jailbraking successful" pops out, my ipod will show the picture of blackra1n and it will reboot but the usb connect to itunes is still there.. How do I fix this????
@unknowuser10 Rerunning blackra1n does not rejailbeak, it simply restarts your iPod. You keep all your apps and music, etc. However there is now a 3.1.3 untwtheres jailbreak out now so I would reccomend that.

@mtdrew735 if you have more than one USB bank on your computer, try a different port... like not one next to it, but on on the backside, or front... also you can try updating your driver for your USB banks and see if the driver did not install correctly in Vista

@adamglfcv21 I recommend you to try rocketdock :) Just search for it and you will find their homepage. Download it and get the OS X Leopard skin + the stack docklet and you will have a taskbar like on the mac :) I use it myself + you get to change to whatever skin you want, size, placement etc. ^^

if you are on a mac you may need to close black rain with your iPod connected and then rerun blackra1n so that it reboots the iPod to finalize the process... the same may be for a PC so you can try it

if you use installous then certain apps may crash on you... just follow the steps in the video to reboot your iPod and see if clearing the caches and ram fixed the problem

I used "Spirit Jailbreak" which is an untethered jailbreak which means that you don't have to reboot your iPod ever. cydia is slower, but it never makes you reboot, only respring which doesnt require you to run blackra1n again.
so, i recommend you use both, but only use rock when you are near a computer because its faster, but requires reboots for almost every app.

this is my macbook pro so it runs Snow Leopard not windows... however, Windows 7 runs a similar OS that has a "task bar" feature that runs on the bottom

ok... for those of you who upgraded to 3.1.3 you have to download the 3.1.2 off of a site like rapidshare or mediafire, etc... then you shift + click on restore in itunes and select the 3.1.2 firmware

You need to close out of blackra1n and the open it up and click make it rain again if your iPod sits on the guys face or a black screen for a while.

if you are on a mac you may need to close black rain with your iPod connected and then rerun blackra1n so that it reboots the iPod to finalize the process... the same may be for a PC so you can try it

if you are plugged into a computer then your iPod would be on because it charges in the on mode, so to answer your question, No

i dont think you need winter board i turned mine off said i needed 2 connect it 2 itunes just opend black rain did the make it rain thing again and turned my ipod touch back on and evreything was how it was

you don't need winterboard.... if you want apps like winter board that require a restart then you will need to follow the steps laid out in the video

every generation of iPod touch was tethered at first... it takes time to develop an untethered jailbreak... eventually there will be an untethered jailbreak for 3rd gen iPod touches

if you use installous then certain apps may crash on you... just follow the steps in the video to reboot your iPod and see if clearing the caches and ram fixed the problem
