  • Well alrighty then....

  • I reckon the guy who did this and the weird kid from Deliverance should have a bad-ass banjo face off!

  • This song is not by Carter Burwell, although that may be who is playing this version. It was a song written by the Sons of the Pioneers in the 1930's and then made famous again in the 1960's by Pete Seegar. Great song though.

  • @camvike thanks for the info :)

  • never fuckin mind the film which is the only nic cage film worth watchin apart from the elvis one.... but amazin music. it took me years to find this little gem of a song. I got it mixed up with that mars attacks song that killed all the aliens!! there is a slight similarity so fuck yees

  • FART

  • Best use of a Yodel in a film. FACT!

  • Arizona has fine looking white women!!!

  • Thank You So Much!!!

  • About 1:51, it goes into Ode To Joy, doesn't it? Isn't this a sort of "medley' of different songs that pertain to things in the movie? The Ode To Joy part plays when H.I. is thinking about having a life with Ed when he's in jail.

  • Sweet Cake & Bublé

  • love it!

  • A little light in the darkness thank you for that light!!!!!

  • that whisteling part is from a ballet by igor stravinski. it's called "the wet nurses dance".

  • TAKE YOUR HANDS OFFA THAT!! THAT'S A FIVE-HUNDRED DOLLAR CAMEL'S HAIR JACKET!!!

  • "Way Out There," which I think is just the yodeling part, seems to have been written by Bob Nolan.

  • can you send me an mp3 of this song

  • Was this in Rango, or am I crazy?

  • Comment removed

  • @PsychofanGal

Yes, It was in Rango too. I just watched Rango and was trying to figure out where I knew the song from. Raising Arizona! Sadly it isn't on the Rango Soundtrack CD. I think it was used a couple of times in Rango - but the most notable one is when Rango is being chased by the Eagle for the first time.

  • Esta canción sale en el capitulo 18x22 de los Simpson

  • Forgot Boycotting Arizona....support the movie by visiting the State. I have.

  • It IS an excellent film. I suspect everyone who views this has seen it, but point well taken. The writing is absolutely fabulous. The humor approximates the kind of 'dryness' that the British are known for ("I don't know; maybe it was Utah", "We released ourselves on our own recognizance.") but it's very American, and proudly so. Thank you for posting!

  • ...are you THE CHILDRENS...? ...i am THE CHILDRENS...!

  • Comment 100

  • the oringinal was done by " the sons of the pioneers" it as lyrics

  • It should be noted (if it's not already in the comments) that this music borrows directly from other composers, like Bob Nolan (the yodeling) and Ludwig Van Beethoven ("Ode to Joy")

  • thank you

  • 5 members of the Parole Board watched this.

  • AMAZING

  • still one of the funniest films ever made and I love the music from it - a work of comic genius! thanks so much for posting this!! :)

  • I will be replaying this for the next few hours...

I wish the yodel never ended.

  • I love the case scene when HI goes into the store and you still here this music only it's the supermarket overhead version. I think it's kind of sad because future generations won't really get that joke because they don't play that kind music in the store anymore.

  • Three people are EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeEEEEEEEEE A HEEEEEEEEEEEEEYAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • It is impossible to listen to this and not have a good time. Maybe HI didnt have a good time when he was bein shot at for stealin a bag of diapers, but still... Great Goddamn Song!!!

  • I loved that they used this amazing song in the equally amazing film Rango.

  • this song > better kanye catalog LOL and im black and 24 from chicago LOL

  • Hey, also just wanted to say thanks for putting this up; saw the movie for the first time in years last week; such a great film. Love this song, and have been able to learn it thanks to your posting. Much appreciated- it has to be one of the most memorable movie theme songs of all time.

  • The only Nicolas Cage film that's any good. He was so great in this film that it's hard to believe how crap he has been in everything since then. Con Air, Lord of War, National Treasure, etc..... what a waste.

  • Love this song it always makes me smile :)

  • I saw this movie when it first came out. I became an instant fan. When it came out on cable, I watched it as often as it was on. I eventually taped it onto VHS. When it came out on VHS I bought the tape. I eventually got it on LASERDISC- remember that format? After that I got it on DVD. I haven't watched it in a while, though. I think I will soon. This is Nick Cage's BEST WITHOUT A DOUBT role. Nobody could do what he did in this movie. Great movie, great movie! Thanks for posting the full song.

  • @shortcircuit2k Well let's not sell John Goodman short, the scenes with them digging their way out in the rain and then driving back after they left the baby on the roof of the car, all the screaming and rage, watched it last night on netflix and I think I laughed harder at those parts than any other part of the movie. :)

  • I love this song!! I heard it on The Simpsons and didn't know what that scene was a parody of until about 5 hours ago...XDD

  • Okay this hurts me ears

  • Thanks for having this song on here! Just love it!

  • You hear stuff like this and you feel no pain...

  • "Say who wears the pants around here H I?" I've been looking for this thanks for putting it up.

  • 1:40 9th symphony...classic

  • Upon Entering My Blood Stream, The Morphine, Begins As A Slow, Warm Itch That Will Surge Through My Bloodstream Until The Brain Consumes It In A Gentle, Orgasmic Explosion That Ignites In The Center Of The Chest And Will Rise Rapidly Into The Nucleus Accumbens Until I Feel Such Pleasure That The Entire World Sympathizes And Adapts A Soft, Lofty Appeal While Taking On A Rosey Hue Of Unlimited Success And The Very Essence Of Existence Seems Powerfully Fertile..............Wha Ya Low Now!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, I've been after the coda of Burwell's Way Out There since I first saw the film. The soundtrack doesn't have it either~thanks so much for posting this! You take the taco!

  • @TheTurbogus Lol! 'Take the taco'. Nice one XD Thanks man :)

  • the coen brothers are the masters of film and cult classics

  • LOVE THIS SONG AND MOVIE......CLASSIC.

  • "Way Out There" - a perfect theme song for the Obama Administration.

  • this song will be played at my funeral. LOL I love it!!

  • favorite quote:

"I rather light a candle than curse your darkness." - John Goodman

  • just watched this today, such a great movie.

  • where can you find this? where was it released!!!???? it isn't on the soundtrack?

  • Yes!!!!

  • Love this movie..when in high school my favorite teacher showed us the movie..making us understand what real movies were.. Though in the end this became one of my high all time movies. I just showed my girlfriend the movie..she loved it...and laughed hard during the diaper run when hi..tried to hold up the store for the 4th time but for diapers

  • i hear the tune i think of the film my eyes fill with tears of joy just thinking about it....

Or my name aint Nathan Arizona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beck would be proud....lol

  • i love when Beck starts humming along at around the 2min mark. how he did that post-retroactively, and so well, is beyond me.

  • One of my favorite movies. So surreal and funny. At times sad and a complete story. Im so thankful they never sequelled it. I hear there is a remake in the near future which i hope gets shot down. This movie was a work of art that still in 2010 is as good as it ever was when released.

  • @Trepidity

Couldn't agree more, a remake would be a bad idea. It's a cult classic for a reason, and if they remade it it just wouldn't be a classic anymore. Plus I don't think anyone could play the roles of Ed and Hi as well as Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter.

  • @GavNAlProductions I second that! It's not hard to notice Hollywood has gone remake crazy over the past 10 years...are they just running out of ideas? Actually, I would be quite surprised if the Coen Brothers allowed ANY of their films to be remade. (???)

  • @quirpco I'm with you i hate the fact of all this remake crap.. makes me sick. no more.. i heard they wanna remake the goonies. also apollo 13.. if they dare touch apollo 13 i'm going to riot...

  • @GavNAlProductions

I'm totally against a remake, but I don't think it would ruin this movie as a classic. If anything, it would make it better.

  • @Trepidity really? can't see remaking any of the Coens' movies. Like The Big Lebowski!? Jeff Bridges is The Dude! and The Dude is Jeff Bridges!

  • @Trepidity Well Said, Just watched Raising Arizona a week ago and then attempted to find One movie in the video store that comes close to it (NON-Cohen related) and NONE. It really is very very unique of a movie!!

  • im partial to convenience stores ;) great carter burwell

  • no time to stretch my quads...........my quads, every stride is a nightmare.
