I have been making mine for years too taught by nonni , and I like the cannelli beans and garbanzo or chick peas with it....sooo good. I also make mine with tomato paste to start things going but his is my most fav meal.....mmmmm mangia!! Thanks tony
Now see, if you were to go the extra step, buy dry beans and soak them overnight, buy some Panchetta( Italian bacon) chop and fry the bacon, saute the onions and garlic in the bacon renderings, add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary, then add a good quality tomato sauce, like Fermano's crushed tomato's. My parents always used that kind of pasta for Fagioli. My father also loved pasta and peas and Pasta cheech, (chick peas and pasta). Great immigrant meals!
