Giorigio dominated this fight from the beginning to the end. Buakow & Giorgio are better than Andy. After Andy the next best fighter is Iron Mike Zimbidis. Because Georgio, Buakow, & Andy are bigger, taller & weigh more than Iron Mike, I consider Iron Mike to be the best fighter pound for pound.

Had you watched the Buakaw vs Giorgio fight, you would've seen that Giorgio was NOT damaging Buakaw, and instead was getting thrown around all day in the clinch. Buakaw dominated him badly in that fight. There are also other unusual fights featuring Giorgio. He lost in Lumpini Stadium against Nonthanun Por Pramuk, apparently dominated similarly as was by Buakaw. There is also footage of Pinsinchai vs Giorgio Petrosyan; Giorgio was dominated badly, yet won somehow..
@HugoTheSavant First off get your facts straight... Petrosyan( who was 19 at the time and had like 20-30 fights) got a draw vs Pinsinchai( multiple time lumpini champ) and it wasn't a domination. Petrosyan landed more punches but was thrown around in the clinch..It was actullay kind of embarassing that it wasn't a domination considering how young and inexperienced Petrosyan was.
As for Buakaw.. Lol neither dominated either...It was a pretty slow paced boring fight. Petrosyan was the aggressor

Buakaw is a kicking machine, his style alone would cause a big problem for Petrosyan. Buakaw tends to lay heavy kicks down with his shins of steel, and tears you apart piece by piece, eventually smashing your entire body, like being beaten brutally with a bat. He has a stubborn type style in that he continually comes forward and keeps pressure on no matter what... A style that, as I said would probably cause problems for Petrosyan. Just my two cents. Not predicting who the victor would be though

On the other hand, Buakaw is not done, he just won last year the S-Cup, and I think he can (and would) put all of himself in the ring. In a one-on-one fight, I'll go with Petrosyan, but it will be a great fight, and the fans will certainly enjoy it.

Giorgio should do pro boxing for a while and then come back to k-1. Professional boxing would really help his striking and make it world class. Go to boxing
The reason everyone is so high on Petrosian is because he's probably the most complete fighter in history. His defense is amazing. He anticipates, blocks, or evades ALMOST EVERY SINGLE strike. Knees, punches, kicks. Every low kick he either tries to grab the foot, blocks it, or moves aside to soften the impact. He is almost never surprised by a single hit. And his strikes have an insane landing percentage because he doesn't just attack without thinking. World's most complete K1 fighter!

Petrosian got a draw against Buakaw when Petro was only 21 years old. He's 66-1, by far the best win percentage of anyone in K1 history for so many fights, and he's got a 50 % TKO rate. that's better than Buakaw and Masato. Better records, more knockouts, more dominance. It's not Petro's fault he was 17-18 in 2004 when Buakaw was in his prime. If he had Petro's defense Buakaw might have lasted longer as a champion

Giorgo Petrosyan has some of the most non-telegraphic straight punches in the business. His simultaneous clinch w/ knee to the liver @ 4:40 is pretty brilliant as well.
petrosyan is the best K-1 max fighter I've ever seen and definitely deserves to be champion..he's got incredible power,speed and stamina..damn man! notice how no one can floor him with low kicks even when he is on one leg...when considering his legs don't look that big.. I think that he's very strong by nature he's got that rocky marciano build...

I have to disagree with you. If Buakaw still fought K1 and he fought against Petrosyan, Buakaw would smash him. The only reason why Buakaw doesn't fight K1 anymore is because he's been robbed on so many occasions that he's decided to fight through other organizations. Check out his dominating victory over Toby Imada at the Shoot Boxing World Tournament. Imada completely controlled Souwer and then pretty much left the ring crippled after his fight against Buakaw.
@mkl7387 Adding to what I said, Buakaw tends to beat opponents into brutal submission. Whereas Petrosyan tends to pick his shots and fight cleverly. The problem is that Buakaw would put too much pressure on him through heavy kicks, and he does have a fairly good chin (Buakaw), so he could take a decent amount of punishment in the interval. I'd have to say I can't guess who the victor would be, but Buakaw would pose a huge problem for petrosyan.

Buakaw is a kicking machine, his style alone would cause a big problem for Petrosyan. Buakaw tends to lay heavy kicks down with his shins of steel, and tears you apart piece by piece, eventually smashing your entire body, like being beaten brutally with a bat. He has a stubborn type style in that he continually comes forward and keeps pressure on no matter what... A style that, as I said would probably cause problems for Petrosyan. Just my two cents. Not predicting who the victor would be though

@yobro250 Both of you are wrong. Giorgio is a monster right now, and I can see him being first 3-time K-1 World MAX Champion. On the other hand, Buakaw is not done, he just won last year the S-Cup, and I think he can (and would) put all of himself in the ring. In a one-on-one fight, I'll go with Petrosyan, but it will be a great fight, and the fans will certainly enjoy it.

The reason everyone is so high on Petrosian is because he's probably the most complete fighter in history. His defense is amazing. He anticipates, blocks, or evades ALMOST EVERY SINGLE strike. Knees, punches, kicks. Every low kick he either tries to grab the foot, blocks it, or moves aside to soften the impact. He is almost never surprised by a single hit. And his strikes have an insane landing percentage because he doesn't just attack without thinking. World's most complete K1 fighter!

Does petrosyan fight like drago? No obviously not but just because he actually has good defense[ which is a rare thing in k1] and avoids taking damage doesnt mean that he is less of a warrior than any other fighter. Petrosian got a draw against Buakaw when Petro was only 21 years old. He's 66-1, by far the best win percentage of anyone in K1 history for so many fights, and he's got a 50 % TKO rate. that's better than Buakaw and Masato. Better records, more knockouts, more dominance. It's not Petro's fault he was 17-18 in 2004 when Buakaw was in his prime. If he had Petro's defense Buakaw might have lasted longer as a champion

Wait so why do you think Petrosyan isn't a warrior? He's NEVER given up in a fight. He's only lost once and by 5 round decision. That means he's never quit, and never given up, never been knocked down and stayed down. If you're going to criticize, at least be honest. Souwer is pushing forward like a soldier because he's getting his ass kicked. Watch the Buakaw vs Petrosian fight. Buakaw dominated the early rounds and still Petrosian pushed the action.

I have to disagree with you. If Buakaw still fought K1 and he fought against Petrosyan, Buakaw would smash him. The only reason why Buakaw doesn't fight K1 anymore is because he's been robbed on so many occasions that he's decided to fight through other organizations. Check out his dominating victory over Toby Imada at the Shoot Boxing World Tournament. Imada completely controlled Souwer and then pretty much left the ring crippled after his fight against Buakaw.

@mkl7387 Adding to what I said, Buakaw tends to beat opponents into brutal submission. Whereas Petrosyan tends to pick his shots and fight cleverly. The problem is that Buakaw would put too much pressure on him through heavy kicks, and he does have a fairly good chin (Buakaw), so he could take a decent amount of punishment in the interval. I'd have to say I can't guess who the victor would be, but Buakaw would pose a huge problem for petrosyan.

eye get ripped open by disguised elbows of Petrosyan, i think this is what alarms Masato the fact that Petro appears to be a good but dirty fighter. look from 4:28 onwards, those are unmistakenly trailing elbows from the close range hooks, neatly out of eyesight of the ref.
