  • i actually thought you had a Lightsaber from star wars :/ i am stewpeed

  • wow i didnt know you were a sky scraper

  • thats really cool

  • I love to see someone working out with an old blade. Swords aren't happy unless they're flourished occasionally, and maybe cut- well, at least the odd melon...

  • What's that one weigh out at, about two and a quarter pounds? Where's the balance on that piece?

  • Haaa you got me nice saber

  • Be a hell of a bayonet on your shotgun lol. :D

  • It's a good day to dine.

  • well thats a easy way to slice a melon up. gunna half to get one of them.

  • When I saw "light saber" I thought it was gonna be one of those star wars swords, I was like Wtf!?!?

  • A bummer for me is that a lot of these sabers have an asymmetrical guard, so they they would be awkward for left-handed individuals such as myself. I could probably have a left-handed model commissioned for me back in the day, but I would be hard pressed to find such a service now.

  • Hickok, defenseless law mowers, poor unassuming pumpkins, albino squirrels... And now you viciously dismember an innocent watermelon. Your a revengeful sort of guy, sir! But I love your videos!

  • That must've been so surreal to see some one get hit with that in battle...

  • Hahaha! Gotta love the "YARRGH!" at the start of the video :D You can tell Hickok is having genuine fun with it.

  • i bet that sword is worth alot of money.

  • I'm looking to get a saber that was in use by the Polish Cavalry in WWII. I realize it's going to be expensive, but it'll all be worth it! (My great grandfathers served in the Polish Armed Forces in the East) And I'm VERY Polish, and just love anything from the great country! (I'm also looking to get a wz. 29)

  • That watermelon looked good!

  • Throughout the entire video, all I was thinking was "Go for the gong!"

  • first 10 seconds i expected him to say " CRIKEY"

  • Lol i love yah hickok45

  • How sharp are/were the sabres compared to the swords?

  • @piecrust21 A sword is meant for mostly stabing and a saber is mostly meant for slashing, so usually the saber would be more sharp on the edge and a sword is more sharp on the tip.

  • @AUG351 actually a sword is meant for crushing, especially in the medieval ages when people wore armor.

  • i was the 1000 like!

  • Gunnneeerrrrr!

  • @hickok45I think I just was a zombie pass by the gong!

  • try the japanese katana next. great cutting power.

  • I wonder whether he talks like this in bed. :P

  • It was also curved so, when swinging/slicing, the blade would not bluntly meet flesh and bone, but would cut and slide off. Similarly with the japanese katana and other cavalry swords.

  • very nice presentation!

  • @nxvznx That's what we expect when we search for "lightsaber"

  • It started out as a how to make fruit salad video : )

  • gunners awesome

  • Haha i have one of those as well, looked up the stamping its authenetic :D

  • I just had a starwars flash back. Lol. Thanks hickok45! And nice videos :D

  • Did anyone else get all excited when reading the title of this video, and hope that Hickok had found a zombie sith lord on his compound and had commandeered his weapon?

  • sir you are a legend.

  • The second watermelon you sliced made me look away because I imagined it was an actual human head. Love your videos

  • this was made by my family this is something I've wanted to come across since i was little boy. you my sir have one of few that has had contact with my great great great grand father's sword.

  • This is the weapon my Marine NCO sword is based off of.

  • Awww look at teh doggeh!! :D

  • adorable dog, awesome saber

  • Do you have a webley if so a vid would be cool.

  • Use the force!

  • How many people clicked on this video expecting to see a lightsaber from Star Wars? Just me?

  • Comment removed

  • Ideal for MP's, MEP's, Cooncilors and assorted traitors.

  • you just got a original civil war light saber. what are you gunna do with it? Im gunna cut WATERMELONS.

  • C'mon, Hickok. Being the Tennessean that you are, you should know better than to say "Civil War". "War Between the States" or "War of Yankee Aggression" would be the proper term.

Just messin' with ya. Another fine video.

  • upon reading the title of the video, the first thought I had running through my head was a joke video for starwars, where you would be playing around and reviewing a plastic light saber haha

  • Did you say you were 6'8? That's tall!

  • Beautiful piece, I would love one. Need to run down to stones river and holler at them fellas.

  • How much does a saber like that cost? I was in the Cavalry back when I was in the service. I would love to get my hands on a civil war cavalry saber. Also where is a good place to purchase one?

  • IDK if anyone has said but Love your dogs name, fitting for you, I think I've watched 50-60 of your vids can't get enough, Its made me buy another Ruger and thinking of getting a Glock 27 2 go with my Ruger SR40 SR40c 38spl and Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380, Thank You for all the info

  • Great video again and interesting throwing a sabre in there instead of a firearm. I caught the part about you being 6'8", I thought a lot of handguns looked small in your hands. Keep up the great work, keeps me entertained when the Army doesn't have me doing anything.

  • Vary nice video! I almost got one of them when I was in Chattanooga. I picked up some bullets and ball fragments though. Oh the history, it gives me a feeling that well I only can describe as Total Awe! Have you ever been to the National Cemetery in Chattanooga? Its the only one that has German POW's buried at it. It has vets from the Revolutionary through Gulf War. I went there to see the grave of my relative James J. Andrews. I never will forget the felling when I touched his headstone.

  • lmao. I watched this video like a week ago and I saw it in the suggestions bar again and only just got the Star Wars reference. lol

  • @BoyznGirlz09

    Maybe he has a job.

  • Hmmmm, I'm in the mood for some Watermelon and a little salt now. :0)

    Cool Video Hickok

  • He's having so much fun

  • That is a really Cool Saber. Gee, from the Civil War period too. It was good to see Gunner too..he sure has grown. So, like may be you could use the Saber to carve your Thanksgiving turkey???

  • Good looking sabre. The navy cutlass from the Civil War era is also a fun one and much smaller/shorter, more practical sized.

  • the inside of that watermelon looks delicious haha great vid hickok45

  • Looking at the title, I thought had gotten your hands on a real Jedi Weapon. I was thinking, "How in the world did he manage that?"

That's awesome that you get to play with a piece of history.

  • LOL i was wondering why the watermelon was making a metallic noise when it kept hitting the ground, and then I realized it was because of all the shell casings. hahaha

  • love the dog

  • 6'8" !!? You are a GIANT !!! Holy moly.

  • Didn't have any idea for a long time that nutnfancy was 6'3". Didn't know til I watched this that hickok was 6'8"...

  • Do you have a job?

  • @SantoriniGoon

I like to think that this is his job. It gives me hope.

  • @AllHailHaze actually, he's a teacher.

  • ...really? you'd think he would check something like that before titling his video "LIght Saber"...

  • you have a extream hate for watermelon

  • Ah, the light saber. Not as random or clumsy as an AK-74U, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

  • @Xiado Because slavery is civilized?

  • @speedyelwood I would ask how you could be so blunt as to miss such a BLATANT STAR WARS REFERENCE, but then I remember this is a Youtube comment, and I should not expect more brilliance than I would from an ashtray.

  • @Xiado I don't know how I missed the star wars reference. But my bad :p there is much to be learned

  • @Xiado of course because slavery is far more civilized

  • @lolcatofawsumd Yes, what the imperials did was horrendous, but let us be glad those dark days happened a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

  • Schofield is most definitely on my list

  • Beautiful piece of history you have there, congratulations on the purchase.

  • Aw, look how big Gunner is now!

  • Took out that water melon like a true Jedi!!!

  • Whoa! Great way to serve watermelon with style! AND there's no lead involved! Edible and educational :).

Lol happy gunner, best part of the video!

  • Do you suppose the reddish color comes from being a Red Brass alloy mix. It's commonly called "gun brass" but it is not cartridge brass.

  • watermelons and pumpkins must hate you lol.

  • I thought of Star Wars when I saw the title. After the video started I was like...what? But then I came back to reality.

  • Thumbs up if you were hoping he was going to have a Star Wars light saber.

  • @goldnugge Go to my channel, I edited this video to have lightsaber effects on it! :)

  • Where do you get your watermelons? Are they all rotten watermelons or something?

  • Your dog is awesome.

  • Noooo... my wata melon *tear*

  • I thought this was gonna be about a Star Wars light saber :(

  • @DiscipleISAwesome I made a video where I edited the video to make the sword a real lightsaber :) Check it out haha

  • Your Fruit Killing Skills Are Remarkable - Gaz

  • anyone else notice that Hickok didn't put his ears on before using that sword!?!? at least he had his eye protection on :)

  • Beautiful saber. Looks pretty sharp. How do you sharpens a antique without lose the original look?

  • @oldrockketchup, You don't. You'd decrease the value considerable if you started grinding on it.

  • @hickok45 But you already lose the value of antiques if you use them to destroy watermelons!

  • @hickok45 how sharp is that saber?

  • @hickok45 excuse me Mr. Hickok but i think you should have used water to wipe the blade first (to get rid of the sugar and other stuff from the watermelon), wipe off the water then oil it

  • @Nicholas1350 , Ah, that's the beauty of Ballistol. It's not a typical oil that just lies there on top of the metal or water. It actually "emulsifies," as they say, with water. I don't rely on that, but it's just different stuff. I don't think I could ever go back to regular oil.

  • @oldrockketchup

also, you have to consider the fact that a saber does not have a bevel such as one you'd find on a pocket knife.

It's "sharpness" has more to do with the geometry of the blade than anything.

  • @damarei Hey thanks! I didn't know that.

    I always liked swordsmanship. Thanks.

  • Hickok.. What did melons do to you?!

  • @ufosorufhoax13 After years of senseless melon slaughters, I would take out any random watermelon I came across also! Never know when one of those is going to be part of the family vine, and looking to do a drive-by.

  • have you come across a Lemat yet? You should talk about that Devil Forest or PT Beauregaard and the Lemat.

  • he has band aids on his hand

    still really sharp lol

  • @HecklerGT2, Handsaw slip. Not a sabre injury!

  • i was surprised when you said it wasnt a replica..i know you take care of it..but personally if i owned that blade it would be in a shadow box mounted on my wall...not out in the woods slaying watermelons lol

  • i was expecting a jedi light saber lol

  • Hilarious title. Great humor. :))

  • You could also use it to open a bottle of champagne, my aunt did that with her officers sabre at her wedding

  • Holy crap, Hickock is 6'8"!

  • You're 6'8"?

  • what a waste of perfectly ripe watermelons..

  • @rdcstyle6612 They were humanely killed and used to feed the hungry.

  • Fruit ninja!!

  • As a kenjutsuka, I have to appreciate that thing. Nice weapon. Gorgeous blade.

  • That saber belongs in a museum!

  • I thought he was going to come out in a Darth Vader costumes with a red light saber! haha

  • @kittyman187 That'll be after he gets that "Plasma rifle in the 40 megawatt range".

  • Haters gonna hate. Keep doing what you do hickok45.

  • do you have the recording from trutv when you were on it? I was working on my truck and didnt get the chance to turn on the television set

  • OMG!! Look at Gunner ^^

  • My dad had one of these. As far as we know, it's still in the basement, but we lost it, now it's nowhere to be found. Anyway, thanks for the info!

  • @escapefate702, I'm from Northern Ky, so I've grown up in the "middle," more or less. I find both sides and both arguments interesting. Slavery makes it tough to sympathize with the South, of course, but the reasons for the war were far more complex than that. If it was merely to preserve slavery, it would be a no-brainer.

  • @hickok45

I can't believe you get shit from all these little pricks! How do you put up with it?

  • Knife The Watermellon.

Your Fruit Killing Skills Are Remarkable!!

  • @defplayryalpfed hahahaha amazing game

  • Your video's on historical weopons are really interesting hickok, thanks for posting for them :)

  • You go through a LOT of watermelons!!! and I love watching it!! hahaha thanks for your awesome vids

  • @killodollars, Don't know about you, but I simply go elsewhere and do not waste my time with things I don't like. Seems you would sort of figure that out and find another place that provides the excitement you need and desire, rather than stay here being bored to death. There are lots of channels I'm sure you'd like out there. Better yet, do something interesting yourself and post it for us! :-) We will continue operating the way we do, so plan for more boredom if you stick around! :-)

  • @hickok45 fairplay to you hickok what a calm and dignified response to a rude comment about a fantastic channel! after all the great work you owe your viewers nothing hickok! keep on doing your thing!

  • @killodollars so leave.... hickokers dont need idiots like you around> nothing has changed about hickok your perception on life has changed. go figure yourself out.

  • @killodollars Why the hell you stick around if you are bored. Stop huffing ether.

  • Hickok45: honestly, you need to be at full gallop on your stead of choice and see if you can chop the pumpkin in two from a top the hay bail while you pass.

  • Why do your videos have to be so long......

  • Hey great video!

    Thanks!

  • Please let me know if you ever end up selling this and what you'd life for it!

  • Light saber lol ^_^

  • @MrDankness009 first off, who cares if he has ever been in combat, anyone who has actually been in combat doesnt care if others have been in combat, and thats the way it should be for any other civilian around. Secondly, watch his FAQ's you will get your answer.

  • @hickok45 ajajaj primero haces pure de sandias con tu m4 y ahora con tu espada muy bn saludos desde colombia aajajja!

  • @hickok45

HI from a fellow Tennessean (Franklin). Where can I find a swinging plate target like I see at your range?

    Thanks!

  • Hick kock some times i think your a ten year old alone in the woods. Having way to much fun.

  • Watermelons! R. Lee Ermey style :)

  • Impressive most impressive!

  • Once more this man proves himself a master of all weapons anywhere.

  • Great video, I love the civil war stuff you do, we have tons of history here in Northern Virginia so it's nice to see you display some. Thanks

  • i thought this would be star wars related....

  • Does your local melon farmer look happy or concerned when you come by for another dozen? :D

  • Did anyone else seriously expect a light saber?

  • there's gunner!!

  • The force is strong with this one!

  • Great video. I always like it when you changes things up a bit!

  • Darth Hickok...

  • lol I bet 75% of the people who clicked on this vid thought it was from Star Wars lol

  • That was a really interesting video, thanks! :)

  • Do you have a crossbow?

  • OK, you got me. Title said "light saber", but I read it as "lightsaber". I admit it, I'm a member of the Star Wars generation.

  • Great video, so glad that you cover items like this other than just guns. I also like that you cover the history as well. I'm addicted to your vids, keep them coming!! :)

  • The title really confused me at first ; )

  • 19th century EDC!

  • hey hickock what is your smallest pistol?

  • He knows he was on TV he agreed to let them do it. Watch his last Vlog he explains it a bit.

  • Good change up in the video subject matter, Hickok. Thanks for the history lesson and info. Do you have any Civil War era firearms that you could borrow for a shooting video? That would be a fun one to watch.

P.S. My apologies if you've already done one in the past before my subbing days to your channel.

  • @omen351, No, not that much.
