What kind of dangerous retard tries to fly a helicopter for the FIRST time, without ANY instruction, let alone a highly experienced instructor right beside him? I sincerely hope he wasn't hurt,but I hope he will never get to fly again, that dipshit doesn't deserve it.

I happen to know about this particular crash. The guy who crashed had recently purchased the heli and was taking instruction. The crash took place at Flabob airpark in Riverside California. It took place in the late 80's or early 90's. They were training and landed there for lunch. The instructor was still in the restruant and the owner went out to fire up the bird and decided to fireup the heli . No mechanical fail;ure. He is in the wrong seat!! Solo 269' from the advancing blade side!

The Hughes/Schweizer can be flown from either side provided you have the dual controls installed. The 269 models were also designed to carry 2 pax, so the pilot would have to fly from the left side regardless. Advancing blade side? The aerodynamic forces that causes dissymetry of lift can easily be overcome by even the most novice of pilots.......which he is obviously not!!!!!!!!!!!
The C model 269 can carry 2 pax and is left side PIC. That is not a C model, note the short vertical stabilizer. The Rotorcraft Flight Manual for a C model also states that solo flights are to be made from the left hand side only, not either. However since that is clearly not a C model and is more than likely an A model, the right side is the PIC side and probably also stated in its RFM that he was seated correctly for solo flight. Your generalization of dissymetry of lift is also wrong.

A huey will run you about 500k to 1mil, that's if you can find one and if the person will sell it to you, a little bird you can get for like 5 bucks! LOL
