@yunhosshi Walaikum salaam wa rahmatullah, the qiyam is like the nawafil, it is prayed in sets of 2 rakahs, the authentic sunnah is to pray 11 rakahs, which is 5 sets of 2 rakats and then praying one separate rakat for witr. I hope this helps inshallah. May Allah make this easy for you and a means of becoming closer to Him ameen. Fi aman Allah
@pinkmuslimah oh i see. thank you. :)) hmmm. so the particular steps like doing the sujood and all of these are just like those that we do for the five obligatory prayers? i think i have read somewhere that before the rukuh, we are going to raise our hands and say something in Arabic. after that, we will then proceed to the sujood. please help me get enlightened about this matter. :))
i have another question Sis. hehe. when making supplications, do we neeed to say them in Arabic? :)
@yunhosshi yes the sequence regarding the bowing and prostrating etc are the same as the fard prayers. Im not sure about raising the hands and saying something before the rukuh, u need to check this out from a reliable source because on most the occasions the muslims raise their hands this is actually a BIDAH, only on certain occasions the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam raised his hands in duaa.
@pinkmuslimah but would it do if I do it in my vernacular? I am not a native Arabic speaker so I somehow find it difficult to say my Dua's in Arabic. :)
Walaikum salam sis glad you found the video helpful, i saw there werent many videos about this prayer (the method of it) on youtube so decided to make mine, im happy you found it easy to understand alhamdulillah.
I have been muslim for some time now....and was to afraid to ask how to Perform Qiyam at Night. People would rush and explain it to me. I appreciate you posting this. I am able to learn it my own pace.
Assalamulaikum..wonderful and beautiful recitation of the Quran.who is reciting it please?need to hear more from him.

I wonder if you could help me. How does Qiyam al-Layl differ from the five obligatory prayers (method/step-wise)? Thank you!

@yunhosshi And as for the duaas being in Arabic this is much better and preferable and full of more reward.
