  • Still cant believe the 6.0 only puts a little over 350hp thats crazy low. hell the brits and germans could get that out of a toilet paper roll a shoe and some duct tape

  • the monaro was a gto

  • sucks that gm discontinued pontiac. the g8 gt (aka monaro with american engine) was the reaon that dodge remodeled and upped the power on their platforms. Funny how a 4 year old car platfomr that went out of business is still ahead of cars in it's class this year.

  • Pontiac returns! little hand up!

  • um the car is electronicly limited at 138 mph and don't worry i tested it.

  • @XPraterX $330 ECU flash/chip.. no more limiter....

  • Doesnt this come manual?

  • @PS3ALKhalili Thats the one thing they screwed up. If we were luckier, we could get our hands on a Holden VXR8 Bathurst. Check it out. Its supercharged too. Actually the new camaro chassis were made in Australia, so they also like going sideways, and come w/ manual trans obviously.

  • @Singnature12 i swear i woulve thum ed up ur comment its jsut that im on ipho e i cant like comments !!!

  • wbt charger r/t?

  • I'm a GM guy, I like these. Not bad looking cars, but they are still too jelly-bean shaped compared to the Chrysler LX cars. I looked at these used in 2011 and they were way more expensive and way more rare than the LX cars, so the choice was easy for me to get a Magnum R/T.

  • In response to it being Australian, its an American car company (was until foreign fanatics eliminated our choice) and the profits which go for R&D, and new models, and much more is why we put our own country first.. You guys who try and justify your foreign car purchases and support companies whose profits go to Japan. We want American cars built here in the USA with many new Pontiac models coming out every year. But that can't be,because it was the choicesAmericans made that took future choice

  • @sargeGXP , GM is american company with companys branching off, australia is holden, england is vauxhaul, american is pontiac, the commodore is 100% aussie made and owned using 90% aussie products, americans did not make this car nor did they make the gto wich is a monaro,

  • american or not it has the gm badge and it is so fun to drive as an everyday driver or at the strip

  • i got 18 grand saved up bitches!!!!!! im getting this car!!!!

  • where can i learn to drive like that?

  • This video made me smile. Bc I own a G8!

  • hêhe_I_fËél_sÖ_lÖNelY_tØdÃÿ

  • this guy throws that car around like nobodies buisness

  • i still rather have my beamer

  • @ranyjan hell i want to sell my E46 for this!

  • you cant compare the G8 to the Dodge Charger...the Chargers transmission is shit and the suspension is too soft. The G8 is, in my opinion, the all time best American Sedan

  • @JacobR343 and btw the chargers had benzes chasis

  • @JacobR343 you do realise this car is an australian car not american right??

  • @DOStylerguitar1 yes I do its a Holden Comodore

  • @JacobR343 Lets not forget 2006 cadillac cts-v it has 6.0 v8 ls2...

  • @JacobR343 Hey listen the G8 is not american!!! It was built in Australia!!!!

  • @hexagonview No kidding its a Holden Comodore

  • Wow, bmw numbers and about 30 grand...Thanks for killing off the car gm...

  • @OnCars Check out the Holden Special Vehicles' GTS. Holden's pimped out version of the commodore/G8. hsv.com.au

  • How in the world have I not heard of OnCars before?! That was some seriously professional camera / production work!

  • How the fuck is a g8 $30,000 USD and in Australia Its $50,000+ (assuming its based on an SS) when AUD is at parody with USD? The standard commodore is more than $30,000 AUD.

  • @bnz500 The same way an M3 BMW costs only $60k in the US but $160k in Australia...

  • @botswanky And that way is.....? Commodore is built in Australia which makes it even more hard to understand.

  • @bnz500 I understand where your coming from, but you can't charge 50k for a commodore, when 60k buys you a top of the line German muscle car in the American market.

And don't forget GMH, is 100% General Motors owned.

Bottom line is, we pay more than we should for the locals, and way more than we should for prestige imports.

  • @bnz500 cause us aussies get fucked over thats why. its aload of shit

  • love pontiac bring up the fire

  • Too bad pontiac was liquidated (sigh)

  • very nice drifting/handling man! for the price this car is a beast!

  • I'd be happy to have it as a fun inexpensive daily driver. Just need to get rid of my 2004 grand prix gt and im all set.

  • This car is the shit. If I had good job, I would buy one

  • they should bring back this car as a buick sports car to compete with the Lexus SI

  • @TheOsoriver holden are going to export the Commodore again in 2012 but this time it will be a chevy and instead of the ponty grill, it will have a small version of a camaro grill. Comaro (design only), G8, the new chevy cop cars are Australian.

  • @scarblade234 Its great that there bringing it back, but I dont think its going to look nearly as good as the G8 did. Especially the GXP, its gorgeous,.

  • @GXPFiend if u like the gxp, check out hsv.com.au - Holden's SUPER COMMODORES!!! Trust me, its way better than the g8.

  • @scarblade234 Yea I know all about those, but I'm sure were not going to be getting those in the States.

  • @GXPFiend If u ever on a holiday here in oz, make sure u check one out ;)

  • @scarblade234 Would love too.. I really wanna come to OZ one dayy. Mainly for Surfing and Holden's......lol

  • @GXPFiend Try and come here. Everyone who comes down under always falls in love. Just look at oprah ;)

  • is this v8?

  • The a8.. Not unless you can justify the extra 30 grand added to the price tag. Fag

  • Gladiatorstorm, u suck cock.. Worse off, u don't do much research b4 u get on the Internet. Spouting off wrong facts, only reinforcing the fact that you're a giant douche. Btw Audi/VW is a German company. Holden, the original designers of the "g8" is Australian. Like so many posters tried to correct you on.. And you want to compare your a6 to a g8? Ok you have the frils of nice interior but I have a 6 liter v8 beast shitting all over your, what? 3.6 L v6?

Don't even try to compare the a8 to th

  • nice man dis tha car that i wont and i wont miine with headers

  • Bring Back Pontiac! (up if you agree)

  • @Singnature12 I agree! GM should've killed Buick.

  • 361 hp from a 6.0 that is just weak as hell but it also means you can make a few cheap changes to ECU and other parts and you´ll be up to 500 hp easily

  • yo was up i was wourding if eveybody wonted 2 buy a 2002 camaro ss with headers and more if so massage me and leave me your name and number and stuff or your e mail thank you

  • @jerkstarz314 eh, id rather not massage you.

  • Best investment i ever made.

  • i really want to see a comparison between this and a genesis 4.6... i know the gen is just a lil more expensive but still!!

  • Too bad they discontinued Pontiac!!! WHO IS THE IDIOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT??? Pontiac is my favorite GM brand, even the minivan, TranSport is fun to drive.

  • @CounsilHan, yeah I second that, Pontiac was my favorite too.

  • If I can make a suggestion, please put that the 138 mph 'top speed' is the governed top speed! Its German rivals have to be limited to 155 with less hp, so the G8 GT can certainly do that. Other than that, I liked it.

  • What it's wrong with being assambled in Mexico? That's why it's low price, excellent work at low price!

  • Bad ass machine.

  • This guy can drive. Great review.

  • Good driver!! I have a new found respect for the Pontiac G8 GT.

  • @gladiatorsworn You did not provide any thing to back up what you said.yes the engine is made in mexico, but the the car being assembled in Germany is a joke!! The G8 was designed and built in AUSTRALIA it's that simple!!!!, it is still built in Australia as the Holden commodore and exported to other countrys .DO SOME RESEARCH

  • @gladiatorsworn WOW, how could you be so wrong!!!, Where did you get that info that the G8 was made in Germany and toyota helped make it. Do some research before you make silly statements like that. Here is a start, look up Holden VE commodore.

  • @gladiatorsworn The g8, challenger, mustang and gto, are muscle cars. Muscle cars are made to make those thrilling sounds any true muscle car enthusiast appreciates.

  • @gladiatorsworn What the heck does looks have to do with quality? Audi's are just another overpriced, crappy car from a foreign country that dummies like you, twho hink they're better than everyone else for driving one. Get a life! People spend money on crap that's clearly not worth the price everyday, just proves how many dumb people are out there that the automakers can count on to give away their money. An audi is a cheap VW, as a lexus is a cheap Toyota. LOL!

  • @gladiatorsworn Oh, come on now! Audi's/VW's, have been a piece of crap for over 30 yrs now.

  • @gladiatorsworn Oh, please! Pontiacs have used red lighted instrument clusters since the late '80's early '90's.

  • there stupid to have stop makin it. one of the best looking car for me.

  • So i have a problem.. Im getting ready to turn 16 and im looking for a cool, sporty car that will hopefully catch some eyes. Now im not looking to race, but i don't want to make the mistake of getting a car thats only option is to be a torquer. So my question is would it be acceptable to get jst the Pontiac g8 with the v6 (because i can't afford the g8 gt at the moment, in price and insurance), or would getting the g8 v6 be like getting a v6 mustang or Camaro where it would just be an insult?

  • @tbryzeal The modern Camaro and 2011 Mustang V6s are not as insulting as they used to be. Both have ~300Hp each, and thats nothing to sneeze at. The V6 on the G8 only pushes around 256hp, decent, but with a car the size of the G8 is, you wont feel like you were driving a very sport car. More like a nice looking car with moderate speed. But nothing thrilling.

  • @CordovaMage Oh ok i get what your saying. But yea all im looking for is a sporty looking car that can at least half back up it looks, that i will also be able to get past my parents and my insurance.

  • @gladiatorsworn Why? What is so good about an Audi, performance wise? Just because a car is expensive doesn't mean its a good buy.

  • love this video love my g8 gt

  • @gladiatorsworn For the price Audi doesn't even compare.

  • racist comment regarding being built in Mexico? All VW Jettas are made in Mexico, as are over 1.5 million other cars...includying all Ford Fusions in Hermosillo , Mexico, with the most high quality awards than any other North American Plant. ( Mexico is in North America for those geographicaly challenged)..... Was the mariachi music really necessary? Wow..we're in 2010 and Anglos still do this?

  • Brother I am from Cuba and that comment is NOT racist in any way !!!

  • The only reason these Mexican plants are so efficient is because the Americans/Germans etc have ensured that proper management and structure was administered otherwise the quality control would not pass their standards. Mexico is still a third world country for the most part and manufacturers use them for the cheap labour. And I'm not racist btw, I love travelling there and I like the culture/people, I've even picked up the language

  • All you guys buy this car while its still available... And i'll buy it from you used in about 6 years from now :)

  • I do not know why they call it Pontiac !!, pontiac did not manufacture this great car.

it Holden commodore VE and I have one.

it designed in Australia by australian and german Engineers, all the electric manufactured by Bosch and sterio system By Blaupunct, anyway, it goes like a rocket and stick on the road like glue.

  • @rhammod1 FYI Blaupunkt is also Bosch.

Holden is a GM subsidiary and this car is also sold in the middle east under Chevorlet and in England as Vauxhaul so it isn't anything bad. In fact it is increased sales for Holden. It's just that Holden isn't in those markets so GM has to name it something different.

  • GXP is better 6.2 LS3 V8 BOOYAHH

  • The new G6 Falcons are OK. However, they don't look as good, although the Interior Electronic Display is slightly more advanced the Interior still looks very Australian (big and Bulky) the VE/G8 is still bulky but manages to have a slight germen influence. Oz ford V8's fail because they try and market their turbo engines. Great engine design but from people that i know that own them, say the XR6/Typhoons are unreliable. The good thing about the G6 Falcon is the safety rating ;-) VE is only 4/5.

  • guy can drive

  • this looks just like my g8 :)

  • that guy can drive!

  • Looks like a Holden from Australia...."Oh it is"

  • I can't believe how easily he flicks the car around. I'm tossing up between an 06 sti and this car. Which one should I choose?

  • dnt know about what other ppl think, but i wud go with this one instead of 06 sti...

  • go drive them both, see which one you like better, and buy that one.

  • @hawkeyesurfer I would never buy rice. Take American Muscle.

  • i just got an 09 G8 GT tonight with 4k miles on it for 25grand- it drives smooth as hell and you dont hear the engine inside. very room interior and every luxury is power operated with an 11 speaker amped sound system and 6 disc changer. 360 some horses throws you back in your seat, i got up to 140 on the highway and backed off- its scary because it feels like youre going 50. remote starter on switchblade key is pretty spiffy too.

  • I'm on my second STI. I love these cars but you could not do burnouts like the G8. The STI grips like its on rails, hooks up hard and pins you to the seat all the time, you just cant get that same feeling in a rwd. You can get the STI to do a 4 wheel drift in hard turns but it's really twitchy compared to rwd where you just counter steer to keep the ass end in control. Not saying one is better, it's just preference. If you get snowy winters, you would love the Subaru. IMO, both great cars

  • asdff

  • own a silver 2009 G8GT.....have had it for about a year, and love it.

  • don't worry about the motor being assebled in mexico - I'm sure both the chassis and engine will be assembled in china shortly.

  • Considering no more Pontiac , not likely...

  • So you have had trouble with your VXR8 for 4 years? Considering that the Vauxhall VXR8 was not released until July 2007, I would say that your whole comment is bullshit.

The car that you had was a HSV VX Clubsport R8, which is 4 years and 4 models older than the car in this video. It is not even built on the same platform as the car in the video.

The reason your car gave you so much trouble is because you abused it. Learn how to drive.

  • @bf6379 you tell that bitch! so so you like the car in the video? do you like muscle cars?

  • Comment removed

  • Got a 2009 gt in bright blue. It's amazing.

  • sooo jealous. I'm looking for a 2009 GT in Stryker Blue and I'm from New Hampshire but NOONE around here has one! the closest one to me I could find was 500 miles away somewhere in New York and it was wicked overpriced

  • StalePhish: Same here. I go to Dartmouth now(originally live in NY) and am looking for a G8 as my new college car for next year. There are a couple back in NY but the best values are hundreds of miles away, and none are in NH!

I don't really care, though-I love this thing enough to drive 1500 miles to grab one. Just getting to drive it all the way back would be worth it.

  • @Futuregohan14: update! As of the first week of October, I flew all the way from New Hampshire to Ohio and snagged an unbelievable deal on a 2009 Stryker Blue G8 GT. The dealer picked me up at the airport and everything! It was a very exciting 14 hour drive home

  • Stale: Congratulations dude, you're living the dream! Enjoy it to the fullest!

  • i love this car. its awesome. XD

  • and the motor is made in mexico?! i was lookin at buying one....not anymore!

  • Yea, because american union work is sooooooo much better......

  • GM finally puts a great affordable performance sedan on the market and what do they do? Phase it out ! I have driven one and I believe this is the best vehicle GM has made in a long time. The icing on the cake is its made in Australia, Way to go Motown, no wonder the US auto industry is on the verge of collapsing!

  • Australia also made the GTO but they didn't make them for the American market originaly, America liked them and rebadged them there real name is G8-Commodore and Monaro for the GTO they have been building these types of car since the 60s look up Ford GTho falcon or the bathurst torana or at the moment look at there F6

  • Now GM said they wont even bring it back as a caprice, however this means the G8 will become a colectable and the price will actually go up, thats atleast what fast lane daily said, so if you have one good investment and if you dont, and can afford it get it while the price is low.

  • Fritz Henderson(GM CEO) said they are exploring applications as a police car, which means it'll probably also be sold as a civilian model because it would just be retarded not to, so do not fret.

  • they are continuing the g8 as the chevy caprice...saw it on fastlane daily

  • it's unofficial but they keep saying they are looking at doing it for law enforcement. which means it'll likely go into civilian production. i wish they'd just say that lol

  • Hmm, "future looks bright" - what a difference a year makes ! shame indeed. Can't deny it's impressive - turning M5 times for $30,000. Any left around showrooms ? Any showrooms left ? A clean low mile used one may still be a smart buy. Relatively small number sold may make for a possible semi-classic type collectable.

  • they overflowed G8's onto dealer lots in the end of last year, hopefully they'll still make some through 2010 because now its really selling well

as for a collectible the first 888 will be collectibles, as well the GXP and the GT, as for the V6 model, probably not, but thats just specualtion

  • Yes, I'm sure the V6 cars won't be of any interest - only the higher end performance V8s. I'd assumed the cars would be discontinued but I guess that being made in Australia they could still be sent over. Maybe they can be sold as Chevs instead if there's no more Pontiac. The US dollar is still up on the Aus. dollar and the car seems to be regarded as keenly priced, so maybe the cars will be viable for a while yet.

  • And the car is cancelled... along with Pontiac.. Car got dumped even B4 Pontiac got the axe.. SAD SAD.. This car was one of the best kept secrets they had... I never saw a single advert for it. Typical STUPID AMERICAN COMPANY. Go to the trouble of building one of the best cars for the money.. then don't tell anybod about it... then cancel the car cause it did not sell.. Mabye we will get lucky and the car will rise again as a Chevy. I swear this car drives like a BMW 540... Really nice.

  • they are going to make the chevy lumina out of that car it nice

  • it sell well here in canada becoming the best selling new vehicle

  • Rich parents eh! LOL!

  • Just got my G8 gxp, loving it...

However the insurance on it isn't pretty, considering i'm 16 haha.

  • woo... thank your parents.

  • I payed for nearly half of it with money earned aswell as inherited.. I also pay the insurance.

  • Inheritance i can understand, but half your money plus you have to pay insurance plus your 16 and in school. working over summer wouldn't come no where near half but you must have 1 of the best after school jobs in the world. i envy you, in a bad economy your doing good for your self. keep up the great work!

  • he is lying out his ass, ignore him eagle. I drive a ferrari myself.

  • lol, i know he is. well i better go back to running my Lamborghini factory. :)

  • If you think i'm lying I can PM you pictures of it..

How is it so hard to believe? I'm fairly well off but i'm not stuck up about it at all, thought this might make me sound a bit high ego'd. I had a fair bit of saved and earned money that is banked with a decent savings account that puts out respectable interest income. Then got inheritance under terrible terms, more than enough to cover the car entirely. My parents still covered some of it for me though. Any-who i'm just about outa space here.

  • i can send you pictures of a Koenigsegg CCR, doesn't mean i own it. i'm not denying you own the car and like i said before i can understand inheritance paying for most of the car if not all. you said you also payed about half of it with money you earned and your 16, half would probly be around $15,000 and thats alot of money for some 1 at 16 to earn at that age even with after school jobs and summer work. like i said before, thank your parents and sorry about the terrible terms or your inherit..

  • i like those air scoops on the G8 it will look great on my grand prix 06 that and a sexy sounding muffler

    PONTIAC FTW

  • the cars australian....a Holden Commodore V8

  • did i mention whether i cared for where the g8 is from?

  • from what i have seen are large cars not selling in the usa because in australia last time i checked the commodore (g8) was the most popular make of car but i think it might of gone to second to the camary and holden was the second most popular brand after toyota but the large car range is still realy going well over here

  • i own a 09 g8 gt and im already doing mods so far it has a roto fab intake, and a hp tuner its kick ass its almost to 500hp. Vin says 125th one made =] they did not go wrong with this car

  • How could you get 500 horses from an intake and a tune?

I think you probably have more like 400hp at the crank.

  • The tune allows me to play with every electronic controlled thing on the car so i played around with it. adjusting rev limits and all that good stuff its a pretty cool tune. im gonna put twin turbos into it but gotta save up they cost 6k so waiting for tax money to come back lol

  • I understand what a tune does. No offense, but I still really don't believe that. I've heard of tunes adding 25 hp, maybe even 50.. but 150-20 or so for the intake, 130hp increase from a tune? Exactly what tune did you use?

  • they should have left the front the way it was originally designed. the pontiac grill ruins it

  • GXP is sweet

  • last word about the future of pontiac isn't spoken , there are plans to simply reduce the product range, and keep the pontiac brand but only reduced

  • FUCK !!!

They shouldn`t shut down PONTIAC !!!

    It`s a best GM brand !!!

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P is right. This brand is gone in history, just like G.M as we knew them is.Oh well.Nothing lasts forever.

  • Australians are number 1 at making cars... we're just that awesome

  • this car kick ass

  • new v6 is will be amazing

  • v8 :)

  • yea down rate my comment all you want, new v6 will have over 300 horses

  • I love the new G8! I can't wait to test drive the new G8 GXP! I've already driven the G8 GT & all I have to say is AWESOME!! Thanks for the great video's! =)

  • Steve Irwin

  • The Pontiac G8 is a re-branded Australian built Holden Commodore which was designed entirely in Australia and the Pontiac G8 is fully assembled at the Elizabeth plant in Australia. This car is actually sold under 4 different brand names

    1. Holden Commodore in Australia and New Zealand.

    2. Vauxhall VXR8 in the UK.

    3. Pontiac G8 in the US.

4.Chevrolet Lumina SS in South Africa and some parts of the Middle East.

All are fully assembled in Australia.

  • It's still powered by a Chevy engine is it not?

  • 90% Australia

  • woo

  • dang i was gonna get a bmw x5 in the near future, but crap, i might have changed my mind, because this is where my energy is going towards! i take Pontiac personally because ive owned a Bonneville for over 6 years! they are really great cars, and fun too!!!

  • ye im 16 now but ye im pretty fortunate : )

  • lol that what im hoping that it looses like 10 k next year

  • 139 mph limited....

  • Tune= 160 mph.

  • the aftermarket world should see some "american" flavour getting tuned...and for hopesake get rid of the governer because that top speed is nonsense without it.

  • top speed is 139? dash reads 180! anybody see a problem?

  • speed limiter only lets it go 140. SO TAKE IT OUT HA HA HA

  • not that i give a shit but isn't that illegal and how easy would it be to do so

  • 3:38 = super lame.

  • im 23 but yeah I agree with getting the corvette, but i really like the G8's, I can afford the G8 GXP, but not the 7.0 LS7 thats another $17,000, and i dont know how hard the swap would be to put it in, i just can't believe that the LS7 puts out 505 hp and tops out at 198mph, ,and get the same gas mileage as the G8's, isn't that redicilious though? you think they would have been smarter than that, don't you agree???

  • I think its an awsome car, but i think instead of putting a 6.0 v8 in they should have gone with the 7.0 LS7 that comes in the corvette Z06 it has 505 hp and 470 ft. lbs. of torque and gets the same gas mileage as the G8 and the G8 GXP, I know if I buy a G8 GXP I would take the 6.2 out and put the 7.0 LS7 in, and theres more performance parts for the 7.0 LS7...

  • Pontiacgforce, I'd bet the bottom dollar you are 15 year old. By the time you spent $15,000+ on the 7.0 engine, and about $10,000 in headache medicine, just go ahead and buy a Corvette.

  • haha dude im 15 and i think that kids an idiot haha pontiacgforce that car has plenty of horse power for someone our age i love mine!!!! ITS SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
