  • Listen to the songs Myxamitosis and Hysteria. Radiohead influenced muse a lot. Radiohead has pretty much created a genre with Kid A. Muse is an alternative rock band. Radiohead Wins

  • Comment removed

  • both of them sound good 2 my ears.

  • "Yo, Muse, I'm gonna let you finish but Radiohead are the best band of all time, ALL TIME." -Kanye West

  • sorry but so different

  • RADIOHEAD!!

  • Thom Yorke is defiantly a better singer, with a wider vocal range. 4 Octaves FTW

Jonny Greenwood is also one of the greatest guitarists of all time!

Although i love Muse, and i respect them, i prefer Radiohead and would say they are a better band. I like that you don't have to listen to Muse for about 2 years before you like it though...

  • @SolKingGutiar98 Radiohead has sold over 30 million albums and Muse has only sold close to 12 million albums. So Radiohead is definitely more popular. Have you even listened to a Radiohead album before? Start with The Bends or OK Computer if you haven't. These guys existed before Muse was even around and have influenced many bands, including Muse. It takes talent to innovate, to have legions of bands copying you...so to say Radiohead is less talented is hilarious.

  • I think people should stop comparing them just because they share a few simularities, I mean, how many bands are 100% original? None. It's like saying Beethoven is a Mozart-ripoff just because they both wrote symphonies and used violins in their songs....... We should be glad that we have such good bands to listen to, and which one of them we listen to doesn't matter, it's just that people allways wants to be on the winning side, no matter if they're actually right or not......

  • Wow, Radiohead fans really seem to be very protective of their band. i can say so much; radiohead is a good band, but saying that Muse is just music for the masses is actually a disgrace to Muse and Muse-fans. Their lyrics are great, if you take your time to understand them, their music is complex and absolutely NOT mainstream in any way, I'm quite sure that if Matt was only in it for money, he wouldn't take years writing symphonies and arranging it all by himself etc.

  • radiohead rules!!!!

  • Tuff one but I'll go with Radiohead.

  • Muse are embarrassing... so much wanky, flashy, over-the-top nonsense with no emotional foundation whatsoever. No meaning, no heart, no overall message... just scale. Who the fuck cares if Matt can sing higher notes, or play twinkling, uninspired piano songs faster than Thom? There's zero soul in it, zero intent other than money and attention. It's big, ugly, empty music for the masses, which takes the secondary elements of Radiohead's immaculate sound and expands them into meaninglessness. God.

  • i'd stick to radiohead.. but muse is amazing too! why compare two brilliant bands?

  • Listen to the song "Pearly" by Radiohead. Muse have made an entire career out of a Radiohead B-Side. Radiohead wins. The End.

  • @NefariousBanana WTF muse and radiohead are two things so fucking different

  • oh come on.

muse have made a career of covering "Just".

  • Well it's a matter of opinion... but I vote Radiohead, criminally underpraised!

  • you're comparing tho with god :D Matt's vocal and guitar are uncomparable

  • @denialdenial37 you compared radiohead to the beatles? lol

  • radiohead,,:D

  • Both are fucking awesome! but i have to go with radiohead.Muse rocks too ^ ^

  • Radiohead. Both bands are fucking amazing though.

  • Radiohead !

  • muse is a great band but radiohead is a classical ....... compare radiohead with coldplay no with muse.......

  • Muse is a good band but Radiohead is RADIOHEAD

  • q no se puede ser fan de ambas bandas?

  • radiohead definatly

  • I mean...really?!

    O.o

    Radiohead, of course!

  • this is hard but i have to choose radiohead.Muse is still awesome like hell tho.

  • what's the music at 0:45 please ?

  • @Rieul31 let down by radiohead. if you havent listened to the album it's on , ok computer, i reccomend you do that.

  • let down by radiohead---AMAZING

  • well yeah if your saying one copied the other, it would be muse copying radiohead as radiohead came out 1985, and muse came out after them

  • terrible song choices...

  • radio head are a 5 piece band while muse are 3

  • RADIOHEAD

  • I see you like ti put a lot of shit in internet, like this ona, a big and smelly piece of shit... They are both freat bands and they both their own style. Fuck everything else...

  • Thom yorke: Chris Martin's idol

Jonny Greenwood : Matt Bellamy's Idol.

    nuff said

  • i couldnt care less about comparing, i just think radiohead is the best in the world/ my favorite so... what really makes me mad though is when muse claims that they werent inspired by radiohead. Now listen to the end of "Exit music (for a film)" by radiohead. that came 4+ years before muse. now tell me that doesnt sound exactly like most of muse's music.

  • @zdarknes72 The only thing this song (and i'm only talking about the last minute) and Muse's songs have in common is the falsetto voice. For the rest, they are very different. Muse does much more pompous and disproportionate music, while Radiohead are more soft and honest. Anyway, both are good, even if Muse will always be my favorite one :)

  • @FuckHarper666 you mean the one that i mentioned? if not, search it! (Exit music for a film) now go to 3:06, at the lyrics "We hope your rules and wisdom choke you". from there until 3:36, ending in the lyrics "Now we are one in everlasting peace". THAT sounds exaaccttlllyyy like multiple muse songs. might be thoms voice in it, or chord progression, but that is influence. and haha you cant really classify Rdhd's music very well, and honest as in what?? they are just amazingly versitile imo :D

  • they're both legends -____- the end.

  • @neilwilson557 That's fine:) But one cannot deny how influential they have become.

  • They are different bands, why should we compare them if we can love them both, I think Radiohead are better musically, but Muse energy is out this world, now their sound is becoming completley different. People should stop comparing this two bands, they are both great bands.

  • Radiohead is far better than Fucking muse.

  • i've decided!!!.... BOTH BANDS and ¡¡¡¡¡AMAZING!!!!!! :D

  • I don't give a shit if people still talking about which band is better or who copies who, I'll still loving both bands :)

  • muse are proper rock n roll that gets me ready for a night out, radiohead is whiny bullshit that makes me want to kill myself

  • @neilwilson557 I see you like Coldplay and Muse. They were both influenced by Radiohead. At least respect the head.

  • @talk45 fair enough still dont like radioheads music though

  • Los dos son incomparables, esto es estupido! :P

  • No nod to the bassists??

  • this is hard.both are awesome as fuck

  • Porque los dos? LOL!

  • @chadblackey - I like the apple / oranges comment too. But its as if Muse said "Hey look at that Radiohead apple, thats a good apple, hey"? "We should be an apple like that" "You think we could be an apple like that?" - response - Well Muse, you wouldn't be an apple exactly like Radioheadn they are an incredible tasting, and quite superior apple - but you could be a similar apple - just not as good. Muse answers "Well lets try it anyway, maybe people wont notice the difference".

  • Come on dude... You missed Johnnys solo in Just (Radiohead). That kills Knights of Cydonia

  • apples and oranges. but radiohead is better. (2)

  • @abcbamz17 dont u think ur statement is a big contradictory? I find that both bands are actually pretty different and i dont get y every 1 is fighting. Hasnt any1 noticed that no 1 really wins in a fight. Both sides are going to get somewhat hurt in the end.

  • @jermrox1it was sort of a joke man, lol, cause it is a contradiction and i think these uploads are pointless... my serious opinion is that comparing them for real would be unreasonable(apples-oranges), but i think most people i know would rather listen to radiohead.. also, this sort of sounds bad, but i do think anyone who would rather listen to muse doesn't quite get radiohead if you know what i mean..

  • You obviously know nothing about muse since you just used 2 of their most commercial songs, for the vocals use songs like showbiz, and for guitar stockholm syndrome or plug in baby riff, also arent the drummer and the bassist important in a band?

  • Comment removed

  • apparently muse and radiohead both only consist of guitarists and a singer.

  • apples and oranges. but radiohead is better.

  • muse 1 star

    radiohead 10 stars

    porcupine tree supernova

  • Comment removed

  • this reminds me of the blur vs oasis battle. so stupid. in both cases its two completely different bands being compared.

  • How could you compare these two?? They're both amazing but COMPLETELY different!!

Muse is like an alternative/classical/heavy rock

Radiohead's music is amazing but MUCH different. I don't see any similarities.

  • Which song is better Map of the Problematique by Muse or Where I End and You Begin by Radiohead?

    =XJ_Z0TqLZ-8 <<which one is better?

  • @Cent9865 That's a really tough one to be honest.

  • Personally i prefer Muse because their music just has something i have never heard in any other band in my life, but i respect that radiohead are a great band and i don't really think they should be compared anyway.

  • @aMUSEd12Rp Great way to put it.

  • @DramaticExtras Thank You ;D Just saying it as it is :)

  • I rather listen to Muse, musically Radiohead is better but their songs feel too forced.

  • Porcupine Tree is better than both bands

  • I love both bands ridiculously. Radiohead are probably much better technically, but I just about prefer Muse's music, it 'reaches' me more than Radiohead's. Origin of Symmetry is also my favourite album of all time. I don't really get the comparisons anyway, both bands have evolved seperately and have completely different styles but are both awesome.

  • I like both bands a lot, but I am more of a Muse fan myself. In my opinion, neither band sounds like each other. Both bands have significant talent, amazing songs, powerful lyrics, and both are really good live.

  • radiohead... i like the music :)

  • They can't be compared. Both bands will still be talked about for another 10 years at the very least.

Also, why so much hate for 'The Resistance'. Thought that was a fucking beautiful album.

  • i got into muse before radiohead. but after i got into radiohead i realized how much they copied radiohead. Its undeniable, the lead singer tries to sound like thom yorke, he even sings whole songs in a high pitched falsetto voice just like yorke did

  • Music is subjective you twats.. stop typing novels to eachother. I love Muse and Radiohead.

  • @DirtyD777 Fucking this. Thank you.

  • Radiohead and Muse are not even in the same genre? its very obvious that the ONLY reason they are compared is because Matt and Thom have such similar voices. Muse is influenced by radiohead yes.Muses largest influence BY FAR is that of Rage Against the Machine which is clear if you listen to their music. Each is better at what they do. Muse is a much more technical band which creates epic and hard hitting music. Radiohead is emotional and creates moments that are incredible to behold.

  • @vleon1012 im 14 and kid a is my favourite album of all time. radiohead dominates my ipod

  • I love both but Radiohead is greatest band ever

  • Muse forever :)

  • Let´s just say like this: Radiohead are God, Muse are Jesus.

  • @FatherFakkers Let's stop acting fanboyish and be objective: Muse are Radiohead's followers. one of the most importants I might add. Muse songs have much more "rating" than Radiohead's. Matt is a pretty good guitarrist, better than Thom Yorke, but he doesn't stand a chance besides Jonny Greenwood. when it comes to singing, Thom has some pretty amazing vocals and so does Matt, but in lyrics Radiohead are in the next level.and Muse have a couple of moving and reflexive songs

    so... I team Radiohead

  • @FatherFakkers what a perfect analogy!

  • i dont understand what muse do that hasnt been done better many times before

  • God, muse fans are idiots. For me Muse beats radiohead, but simply because i like the over the top feel, and simple music they produce. Not saying simple is a bad thing, its what i like. But over half the muse fans on here are just saying that they are the best, and then crying when a radiohead fan provides actual support to their argument. Radiohead is immense, but i need simplicity :)

  • @vleon1012 I'm 19 and a huge Radiohead fan. In fact, most of my friends my age are as well. Most 40 year olds I know either a. Have never heard of them or b. Think they are a band for teenagers so a big FAIL on your part.

  • so now the system changed it's thumbs up for radiohead and thumbs down for muse I assume?!?! ;D

  • The only thing, in the end, that matters is this: at least we are not a bunch of fucking morons who blast Lil' Wayne and Drake every day. In order to understand and like either Radiohead or Muse (moreso Radiohead), one has to have an appreciation for art in general, and allow themselves to feel whatever it is the musicians want them to feel, even if it's mind-blowingly depressing like "Street Spirit".

My God, even mentioning "Street Spirit" gives me butterflies. :D

  • However, out of all three bands, Radiohead will be the remembered one. They proved to the world that anything creativity-wise can be accomplished. They're pioneers.

Muse is like a more passionate rock band, which in itself is risky in a society that wants the same crap fed to them over and over again. Almost like a "Rage Against the Machine" but with more emotion put into it.

In my opinion, again, Coldplay has nothing much of value other than easy-listening elevator music.

  • Oh, and by the way: Coldplay is absolutely nothing compared to either Muse or Radiohead. Radiohead is two miles ahead of Muse and Coldplay, and Muse itself is a mile ahead of Coldplay. Here's how I see it:

Radiohead sees music as an adventure, and new styles must be founded to satisfy their ambition.

Muse has the same ambition, but they keep themselves more based on heavy rock.

Coldplay is what it is: more likely to be a guilty pleasure than anything else.

  • @TKOblue Odd enough most Muse fans are complaining about their new stuff not being heavy anymore...

  • @FretsonFireMuse: They're not. "The Resistance" wasn't that great of an album. No angst or anything.

I liked "The King of Limbs" a lot, but I didn't have a lot of emotional attachment to about half of it.

  • @TKOblue Resistance was a mess of styles and themes, and overproduced at times, which is why I didn't like it as much. King of Limbs was essentially what you said, I liked the album and songs but didn't get that emotional connection as much. No matter how much it grows on me I don't think I'll consider it one of Radiohead's best.

  • @FretsonFireMuse: Nah, me neither. For most of the CD I just appreciated the catchiness and uniqueness of the songs. Codex, Lotus Flower, and Bloom are the only ones that made me, y'know, FEEL, I guess. The rest I was just all, "Okay, this is cool, I can dig this". As for Resistance, exactly. It's like Muse couldn't decide whether or not to make a rock album. Plus, the vocals are too...content. And the music on it was too palatable and poppish. It didn't require much to understand.

  • @TKOblue judgin muse off of the resistance is a mistake. There is much more emotion in Origin of Symmetry and Absolution. For example, the song "Micro Cuts". He has to be feeling a lot emotion to even be able to sing that

  • @bobofdeathtoall: I'm not. I was a fan of Muse's before "The Resistance". Which is precisely why I hated it. To go from emotional hysterics to pop music is a ridiculous change.

I have a love-"meh"-relationship with the "King of Limbs" album, too. As in, I love half of the album, but the other half I seldom listen to because I can reach to it emotionally.

However, overall, Radiohead is the better band.

  • @vleon1012 I'm 15 and find Radiohead the greatest band, in my opinion. Now here's a fun fact, without Radiohead...There's a chance you wouldn't have muse. Matt has stated numerous times that Radiohead is a huge influence, plus his guitar playing style is hugely inspired by that of Jonny Greenwood's guitar playing (One of the guitarists from Radiohead) I also don't see how you think Radiohead is "Boring music for people over 40" I feel as though my IQ dropped reading that one.

  • @InRainbows622: Matt has never said anywhere, I believe, that he's been inspired by Radiohead. Both him and Thom Yorke have been inspired by Jeff Buckley, so it makes sense that their vocals sound somewhat similar.

  • You can compare them if they starting a band, and popular at the same time...

  • Muse. Muse always.

  • radiohead > muse. true fact of life.

  • Radiohead is great calmness. Muse is great energy. imho

  • I'm reasonably sure they sound similar because they have similar influences. I do think however that Muse were sought by the music industry because of Radiohead's success. Same for Coldplay in my opinion.

  • Its wrong to compare th...WAIT...Muse are winning! In your faces! haha!!

  • @vleon1012 I'm under not 40, but under 16 and it's the best band i've ever listened to.

  • i'm a crazy MUSE fun! BUT i can sure tell you that, both of them are AWESOME! YOU CANT COMPARE MUSE AND RADIOHEAD GUYS! :S

  • Well there simply would be no Muse without Radiohead.... RADIOHEAD KICKS THERE COPYCAT ASS!!!!!

  • @vleon1012 Well at least people over 40 have good taste then.

  • Besides, you can't describe Radiohead OR Muse with two songs. Listen to the discography of both bands and you'll start to see some MAJOR differences in talent.

  • I love both, but in my personal opinion, Radiohead is like the wise old man passing his years with a critical eye for society, and Muse are the kids in the sandbox diddling away until they see what's really going on.

  • absouloutly

  • Muse won and always will win.

  • в моём сердце против других групп всегда будет побеждать Muse! / in my heart against the other teams will always win Muse! я люблю Muse!!! I LOVE MUSE! FOREVER!

  • Radiohead and Muse are both great bands. I like Matt Bellamy more than Thom Yorke, but Radiohead is more skilled in guitar. Personally I used to like Radiohead more, but I'm into Muse now. Radiohead and Muse will both be mentioned as one of the best bands ever.

  • fuck radiohead

  • @MelPullThePin I'm not sure I agree about the whole greats thing. I haven't heard anybody mentioning the piano pieces in Muse. They're extremely difficult. I think Muse will inspire a ton of future bands, unless the next album they make is like The Resistance (kinda lame to me). I once told someone I like Muse better, but I'm switching to Radiohead now. I feel like Muse will have a big influence especially the stye of bass playing they use. So different. Radiohead is a legend though.

  • @HeavyD2544 The whole greats thing isn't really an opinion as RH are constantly talked about as one of the best bands (certainly of their generation). I agree about the Resistance (quite lame, lol) and the bass playing...I think Chris is an awesome bass player. I'm sure they may go on to inspire many bands...but I think it's safe to say that we would know how those bands would sound. Unlike the people who claim to be influenced by RH...you couldn't tell as much.

  • @MelPullThePin This is true in many ways. I hate labeling bands part of the "indie" genre, but Radiohead definitely has been a big influence on a lot of them. Crazy thing is, very few of them sound the same. Either way, I still think they will both be major players in transforming how future music will sound. Muse and Radiohead are just too good to ignore.

  • @MelPullThePin You're absolutely right. Just like the 60's are remember for the Beatles and the 70's for Pink Floyd, the late 90's and 00's will be remembered for Radiohead. I like Muse but their music is much easier to digest, which is probably the reason for their great success. Radiohead got where they are by innovating and being true to who they are. And Creep. Bitches love Creep.

  • @MelPullThePin Give it about 5 to 10 more years and Muse will definitely be considered one of the greats. IMO, as much fame and acclaim that Muse gets, I still believe that they are underrated.

  • @dopejoel: At the rate they're going, I doubt it. If the next album is anything like "The Resistance", I sincerely doubt they'll be remembered as one of the greats. Not even their earlier albums, which are great, can top albums like "OK Computer" and "Kid A".

Still a big fan of both bands, though.

  • I listen Muse when I'm in the "Rock" mood...

I listen to Radiohead for living (plus when crazy-paranoid-ego-dark-evil-sad mood)

  • i like muse more, i only like a few radiohead songs but i like almost every muse song

  • Lol keep in mind that just because one of Muse's influences are Radiohead Muse isn't automatically an inferior band. Radiohead had its own influences too remember, like John Buckley, The Smiths and The Pixies. My 2 cents from a neutral.

  • How about this they are both one amazing bands and if you don't like both then you should just go kill yourself because obviously you have shitty taste of music.

  • who cares who's better? I do! and I choose Muse xD

  • You need a life. I life both....but radiohead is a far better band. Get over it.

  • I love both. Grow up.

  • Why do people think that Muse were created by Radiohead?

I've listened to both. More of Radiohead because they have been forced down my throat by the 'musically superior'. What have i discovered?

Muse sound nothing like Radiohead, they are much better live, and their music has much better structure. Radiohead are so repetitve, they fit into the genre of minimalism. And don't even bother trying to kid yourself that Radiohead have 'meaningful lyrics'. Thom Yorke doesn't understand them.

  • @oozium1198 Much better structure? So you consider standard song structure for nearly fucking everything 'better'? You find Radiohead, a band that has gone from brit pop to alt rock to IDM to jazz fusion influenced trip-hop to alt pop to dub/experimental repetitive? Thom Yorke, while his lyrics aren't mind-bendingly amazing like everyone says they are, kick the shit out of Matt's generic space opera faggotry.

You say you've listened to Radiohead, but I'm willing to bet you haven't.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm In defense I liked the lyrics to Megalomania and Hoodoo. But I've always liked Radiohead's lyrics better.

  • @FretsonFireMuse Those two songs have great lyrics, I agree.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm you can like one more than another. but your view is no more important or correct than someone elses. music is subjective. I think Radiohead sound repetitive in my opinion too, deal with it.
