It's funny how some creationists use the "argument" that God is never changing, but science is. It's a crap argument, for sure, but it's also untrue: God has changed, in that science has, well, given us better teeth, so there are fewer gaps to fill out now.
Science is a study dummy.......of the material world and its laws! Our knowledge of the material world may increase.....but the material world remains the same. Pttttt.............CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula Okeeey, I was making a comment about the creationist's poor and contradictory use of the God-of-the-gaps argument, combined with another argument, and THIS is your reponse?
Reading comprehension much? And you call me a dummy?
The only big bang the Catholic Church cares about is that of their preists buggering their parishioners. If you (the public) actually care what Ratzinger says after all he's done? Well, then I can't see much hope for you as a human being.
"the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out" is hardly an accurate description of the big bang, i.e. the space/time continuum starting from a singularity. But then I suppose that you would also have us understand that your good book doesn't support slavery, rape or the smashing of children's brains out with rocks for being rude ... CATHOLIC STATE? - no thank you good sir. I would much rather live in a secular world based on common trust, knowledgge and love

i think if they revoked all tax free status's of all religions and asked for back pay since forever they could literally wipe out the religions by making them broke. im sure the pope would give up his position once he realised the free ride was over
I would say with all the contraceptives and abortions of atheists.......you are the ones that will wipe yourselves off the face of the earth. Ho hum. CATHOLIC STATE please!
touch a nerve did i hehe. seriously how can you perpetuate such twoddle? since when is contraception a bad thing? it stops STD's and unwanted pregnancy. and on the subject of abortion lemme guess you think that when a girl is raped she must keep it right?
I can't even remember what you said....LOL. And contraception increases promiscuity outside of marriage....and therefore STD's......and selfishness inside of marriage. And brings your unlovely depraved society to an end. Look at your birthrates......your end is nigh. Yeah......nobody has the right to take the life of a defenceless innocent. It is the sign of barbarians. Thank God you are all dying out. CATHOLIC STATE as a replacement please!
u probably wont understand any logical structured answer as you clearly are misguided. you make so many unfounded assumptions and didnt even attempt answer my question. avoidance and ignorance, the trademarks of your religion.
No......the trademark of my religion is intellectual spiritual brilliance. The trademark of atheism is sloppy thinking.....degpravity (nothing intellectual there) and wishful thinking! CATHOLIC STATE for me!!
its so funny how you destroy your own creditbility more and more with every reply. do you actually think before you reply? have you actually heard of critical thinking skills? would you be willing to apply them to your beliefs? no? thought so, then thats ignorance plain and simple.
@amaqula - "The trademark of atheism is sloppy thinking." Then be it known that said "sloppy thinking" resulted in such "horrific atrocities" as the automobile, the automatic central heating system, the automatic hot water heater, electricity, clean drinking water, medicine, telephones, cell phones, the internet, and the computer. I suggest you stop using these atrocities of sloppy thinking right away.
@amaqula Stop your ramblings. The god you worship promoted and ordered rape, slavery, murder, cannibalism, kidnapping, dismemberment and torture. You are a dangerously deluded person.
@amaqula - Condoms increase STDs? Source, please. This contradicts every study I've ever heard of.
Selfishness inside marriage? You better be selfish in love or you're opening yourself up to abuse and misery. Wouldn't life suck if you were some violently abusive man's slave?
How can recognizing that man is a communal species that must rely on and support each other lead to an unlovely depraved society? Seems to me a desire to help others because it helps one self is an improvement.
@amaqula - "Nobody has a right to take the life of a defenseless innocent?" If that's in reference to abortion, than you just justified every rape that's ever happened to any pubescent woman. After all, disallowing sex is, in fact, disallowing the potential birth of a human being and thus "murdering a human life."
You are in fact the barbaric person. You feel you should tell people what they can and can not do with their own bodies and with whom, and other atrocities. We believe in liberty.
Abortion does not rectify a rape.....it merely punishes the innocent. Try convicting the rapist......yeah?! Wrong target!! And Catholics allow sexual activity.....in marriage....the sanctuary for children ie the future. Atheists just lack any dignity or self control.....just letting it hang out like uncultured degenerates. And the greatest scientists have been and always will be Christians in Christendom. Yeah!! CATHOLIC STATE please!
If you find abortion to be wrong, don't have one. Simple really. But if you think for one moment that YOU get to decide for ME, or any other person, how to live, you are sorely mistaken. I want you to be free to follow the dictates of your conscience and beliefs and I ask for the same courtesy. A Catholic state would destroy the very idea of personal freedom. You want to be able to follow your beliefs but you want to take away my right to follow mine? How immoral of you.
No.....I don't decide for you ...selfish pompous little you.....I will decide for the unborn child....who has no voice....cos selfish pompous bullies decided not to allow them! And then they call themselves courteous. Pass the sick bag please! You don't have a right to butcher others....only savages do that! Then I guess that is what you are....savage. CATHOLIC STATE for the future please!!
@amaqula You must have failed history. We already had the Catholic state. It was the dark ages. We currently the Islamic state in many areas. It is working real well either. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. Religion needs to be put in its place - the past!
No.....evil atheism needs to be put in its place. And all atheist states are dying......and the religious are gradually taking over. Keep taking your contraceptives please.......and keep the future for religious :) CATHOLIC STATE for me!!
@amaqula I suppose if you don't mind your children being molested by priest that are protect by a Nazi Pope, that could sound like a good idea. But since I think that sounds like a bad idea. The Constitution guarantees the Pope Ratzinger has no say.
Sod the constitiution....it can be torn up. Demographics rule.......and that means proaborts get less and less say while religious grow and grow. Atheists disappear by 300 world wide each day :) Can you guess why?! CATHOLIC STATE for me!!
@amaqula The Constitution is a document so sacred that most Americans would die for it. The fastest growing "belief" is atheism. The fastest growing religion is Muslim. You need to get your facts straight. Catholics are a declining group.
Well.....I don't hold any store by the Constitution. It has served its purpose I guess, whatever that was and is now basically irrelevant to today's situtation. Actually atheists are disappearing....300 by the day. Their death rates outstrip their birthrates. Oh well. CATHOLIC STATE for the future.
@amaqula Why don't you just move to the vatican city and live with the perverts - or are you one of them and already hiding there. Your church is basically nearly dead. It is nearly as vile as that other major religon. If you had one bit of proof your god was remotely real, there would be not atheists. Silly theist.
The Vatican is too small.......and atheists won't be needing all that land and all those houses once they pop their clogs. So plenty left for the fast multiplying religious. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula Well if you believe in heaven the "innocent" gets a quick trip, with no inconvenience of the struggles and potential hazards and sufferings a life can bring. No risk of sinning and getting a sentence of hell. Better not to be born if one can be sentenced to eternal torture, just for the privilege. The religious mind has so much crap to defend it makes my head spin. Catholic state!! You are either a troll or completely insane!
Oh why not be born and fight the good fight instead of whining! And in Hell you only get what you gave to others. Totally fair. Justice prevails. CATHOLIC STATE please!
Well at least Catholic States lasted for centuries....promoted developement.....and kept Islam at bay. Secular states are collapsing after mere decades.....too few children.....and being taken up by Islam. And the defining feature of secularism is depravity......of the sterile unproductive kind. CATHOLIC STATE.....coming up!
@amaqula #1 Islam and Christianity are different sides of the same coin. Give Islam 500 years and they will be exactly where you nuts are today.
#2 'promoted development' ??? ROFL are you fucking kidding me? The Catholic Church is a moving road block on the path of knowledge.
#3 Longevity means nothing when the quality of life is as shitty as it was when the Catholics were in power. Hell on earth? Yeah no thanks. I'll stick with sanity.
The Church fostered developement and scientific advance.....that's why science blossomed in Europe under the nose of the Church......and not in China!! Catholics were a happy motivated people and lived life to the full.....atheists are miserable takers who do not contribute to the future of their societies. They are baggage and burdens. That's why they are dying out. CATHOLIC STATE please!!
@amaqula If you think that China made no scientific advancements you are not familiar with Chinese history (or that of the Arabs). I don't think that you know much about European history if you think that Catholics were 'happy motivated people' who ' lived life to the full[est]'. I would suggest a review of 8th grade history as well as science.
And in case you didn't realize - religion is a dying way of life. But you see the writing on the wall, don't you?
@amaqula - Here we go again, more parroting of the words "catholic state" all in caps. I agree with the other comment. "CATHOLIC STATE" does sound like the ending of a rather horrid joke.
@prankmypants I would love to see the day when churches are taxed on their lands and holdings...we could say be bye to bronze age beliefs in two months (max)....talk about heaven on earth!!
I would love to see the day when the degenerates are taxed for spreading their filthy STD's about the place. And...pensions should be abolished so that families look after their elderly. Then atheists wouldn't be a burden on the state funds. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula 'I would love to see the day when the degenerates are taxed for spreading their filthy STD's about the place.' -- SEEE? I knew that we had something in common (despite your mental issues)!! As soon as churches and the degenerates therein are taxed out of existence, life will be better for all! I guess you finally 'saw the light', eh? LOL
well, I wonder, will they be TRUELY teaching evo' there, or will the same teacher (which will most likly be very versed in the bible, but not so in science) teach both.
will they explain honestly how the research was done?
or will they call it "an accident", and say how "mutation are always bad"?
Why do atheists think evolution is science?......it's not . It's biological HISTORY. I guess atheists want to hide their uselessness at the difficulat physics......so they have to pretend 'evolution' is cutting edge science. It is history.....there fore can never be exact. CATHOLIC STATE please!
No.......nothing in history is fact.......it is probable. But not 100 % so. And even more so for evolution. We keep learinging more and more.......and the more we know......the more we know we don't know. It is a subject that is just too big. We can only say we think this might have happened. Evolution is not an exact science. CATHOLIC STATE please
@amaqula Evolution is a fact. It's backed up by science. What can't be 100% certain is how evolution works, hence why there's theories about it. But evolution is 100% certain.
Evolution is a theory......and is not an exact science. In fact it is hardly science at all......little more than psychology. LOL........and they think it is cutting edge science. No wonder they can't do physics......the real science. Too difficult for atheists. Monk scientists please!
@amaqula "Evolution is a theory". Yes, the theory of evolution is a theory. But it's a scientific theory. A scientific theory is the best explanation we have for various phenomenon, which occur in the natural world. The theory of evolution explains how evolution works. But evolution takes place. That's been proven hundreds and thousands of times.
So.....everyone can have a scientific theory.......I have one myself. Proving it is the important part. Evolution is full of holes......and is not cutting edge science......but natural history. Try doing physics sometime eh?! Only then will you prove you are a true scientist. Too hard for atheists eh?! CATHOLIC STATE please :P
@amaqula No, what you have is a theory in the civilian terms.
A scientific theory is (like eyallev says) the highest place a scientific explanation of natural phenomenon can achieve.
Take gravity as an example. We all know that it occurs, since, if it didn't we would all just float around in space. So gravity does exist. The THEORY OF GRAVITY is an explanation as to HOW AND WHY this phenomenon occurs.
I am a thinker.....a philosopher.......and philosophy leads naturally to questions and theories about the material world...ie scientific theories. The 2 are connected! You don't need to tell me what I already know. And I have my own theory. Who knows.....it may be true. CATHOLIC STATE please!!
@amaqula "who knows" indeed. Now you're saying that there's doubt whether or not your theories (which aren't scientific theories) are true. Isn't that sort of against the whole concept of your religon? About there being a doubt about the existence of your god?
I never question the existence of God dum dum.......to do so would be a crime against reason. And I am too intelligent for that. Which is why Christians make the best scientists. We believe in reason......and we don't contradict it or reality. Unlike poor quality atheists scientists. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula a theory is the highest place you can reach in science. You have atomic theory, the theory of gravaty, cell theory. all thoes are theorys, just like evolution. and like evolution, they have all been prove true. Sure there might be some uncosivable reason why things work as if evolution is true, without it being so (like super smart alians controlling us), but science ignores thoes options, as be doing other wise, would mean that nothing would get done.
I've got my own theory.......as do millions others. But proof is required. And proof doesn't seem to favour the theories of the atheists :P What does that tell you about them?! CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula if you have no proof to support it, it's not much of a theory now is it? sounds to me, it's more of a hypotisis than a theory. theories are only theories in/after they have predictions, and confirmed by scienace.
Well......my theory is just as good as atheist's evolutionary theory.......and I will have just as much evidence to support it as they have. Maybe even more :P CATHOLIC STATE to replace inept dying degenerate listless no hope secular states. They are at an evolutionary disadvantage.
@amaqula Btw, this might be a shock for you, but there's many christians who actually ACCEPT the theory of evolution. That's right, there's christians (catholics, even) who accept the things you call an "atheistic theory".
@amaqula how is history not science? In history you study the evidance, you make predictions, look for more evidance to support thoes predictions, or find evidance that counter your prediction. History IS science.
by your logic, geology is also history, and so is astronomy.
what prediction (other than "you are going to hell/heaven") has religion ever made (any religion)?
@amaqula Well, I guess I must have misunderstood some pretty basic things like how we (currently) have DNA patterns in common with all other living species on the planet, or the ability of viruses to become resistant to drugs.
Foolish me, I thought these were current, observable examples of evolution. [/sarcasm]
Yes....but we knoew from day one we had many things in common with all organisms. We knew with our own eyes that we had 2 eyes then a nose and then a mouth.....and even simply flies have some kind of similar pattern. So that knowledge has always been there. How these similarites came about is very interesting etc.....but not an exact science....but still a very interesting matter for biology and natural history. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula Strange, I understood that biologists say we share physical traits with other animals because of shared ancestral forms. Since DNA research has shown that the fossil record matches the DNA patterns in related species, it seems to follow that the similarities are a result of the DNA that is shared.
Also, how does your theory of eyes-over-nose-over-mouth square against something like a scallop, that has eyes above and below it's mouth?
Also what about viruses evolving drug resistances?
yeah......they do......but they don't have definite proof of evolution is what I am saying. it is still a theory......and a lot of people have questions and doubts concerning it. Also evolution is natural and biological history.....not an exact science. And while not all animals have eyes nose mouth combination.....we do share with all organisms the fact that we eat reproduce....and die! This has been observed since time immemorial wouldn't you say. CATHOLIC STATE for me!
@amaqula The fact that some people have questions and doubts does not invalidate the reams of evidence across many, many disciplines which all agree with the theory of evolution.
As other people have already noted, you seem to be confusing the layman's use of the word theory with the scientific use. It's not like scientists are uncertain about evolution.
Sure, I fully agree all life we know of has in common eating, reproducing and dieing.
It doesn't prove evolution either does it.........it remains a theory......and it is only a theory of natural history.....not the cutting edge of future science. CATHOLIC STATE please!!
@amaqula The cutting edge of future science isn't here yet, so what we do have is current cutting edge things like genome sequencing and genetic comparisons between species... Which directly support the (testable) predictions of evolution.
They are not the cutting edge of science......that's simple biology dummy! The cutting edge of science is the exact science....physics. Atheists haven't a clue when it comes to science. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula Wow. Just Wow. You acuse atheists, who seem to tend to rely on the physical sciences to explain the world around them, of being clueless w.r.t. science? That's just nonsensical.
Accepting (for the sake of argument) that the recent developments in genetics are simply biology, why do you deny that the findings those scientists put forward are invalid when proving evolution?
Listen sir.....everybody depends on science to tell them about the material world....especially us Christians who are the master scientists. I don't deny evolution....I just say that it is natural HISTORY....therefore it cannot be exact! We make a hypothesis on the evidence we have today.....but tomorrow new evidence may emerge which could change our perceptions. CATHOLIC STATE please!"
@amaqula And why do you think that Chistians are master scientists? Doesn't Christian dogma tell you that many things are unknowable and therefore pointless to examine?
The reason I say evolution can be exact is that we can use the characteristics of objects in the present (like DNA) to determine how they got to be what they are now.
It is an objective fact Christians make the best scientists cos we believe the world is a rational understandable place cos it emerged from a rational understandable God whom we resembe since we are his children. The world is not random or incidental but planned and purposeful. This mentality leads Christians to look into the world around them. Present day occuring biological phenomenon are fact but not irrefutable evidence of past natural history. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula Basing your scientific efforts on the world being a 'rational understandable' place is a hallmark of the irreligious. Without a subjective reality having been created, manipulated and subject to the whim of god, we are left with the natural world and it's laws, within which we then have a consistant framework for experimentation.
You seem to miss the fact that believing in a god is for most people a reason not to examine the world indepth, since the questions are answered 'goddidit.'
A rational understandable world is a hallmark of the religious and evidence of God. Things don't just jump up and arrange themselves in complicated forms after they somehow creating themselves from nothing you know!! That's illogical. History shows that Christians sought after knowledge and investigation more than any others....including atheists. It isn't just enough to be curious....you have to have an instinct of where and what to look for - like us. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula That's right, things don't just jump up and order themselves. That requires energy to be added to the system. Oh look! We've got an enormous hydrogen fusion furnace blasting away at the planet all the time.
No, I think Christians lagged behind other cultures as a result of the doctrines enacted by the church which disallowed inquiry into what was supposedly only god's knowledge.
Further, your strawman of things creating themselves holds no water.
LOL.....your argument is illogical....like atheism. Developement took place in Christendom ONLY.....under the nose and auspices of the Church! She founded the monasteries and universities......and directed the philosophy which shaped scientific study. Today all the world is pagan.....and all the world is equal....and nobody can make the necessary breakthrough's in physics....the core science. CATHOLIC STATE please!
@amaqula No, believing in something without any proof or evidence is illogical.
If the church "directed the philosophy which shaped scientific study," then why is Aristotle (384BC-322 BC) considered the father of science, who lived in a polytheistic culture?
Physicists continue to make groundbreaking discoveries, whether you value them or not.
How about the advances in early math attributed to Arabic cultures long before Christ, or the fact that contemporary Chinsese culture was more literate?
No.....if something is logical....it is illogical not to believe in it :P That's why atheists are illogical.......Aristotle got many things right....but many things wrong....which held back the development of science for centuries. The Church sorted it out in 1277! Look up the Condemnations of 1277! After that.....science flourished. Actually Kerala in India was the centre for Maths....the Arabs merely transported and translated. CATHOLIC STATE please.
You don't need to follow every new discoveries in frontier breaking physics....cos there are none! There are theories aplenty....but no evidence for them. Uh oh. CATHOLIC STATE please!!
@victimlesscriminal First of all, WELCOME BACK! I've always been a huge fan and I'm glad to once again see you filling the void that only your voice and your message can.
As I've said many times over the years, "It is easier for religion [the Catholic Church] to change [the perception of] the Universe, than it is to admit they are wrong [or don't know]."
1`20...christian thinking maybe not, but unless I'm mistaken...it is catholic priest(Georges Lemaître) who thought the big bang out no? So let us still give credit were it is due!
also, the jesuits may be wacky with their religion, but they are paradoxically, THE most educated humans on earth.
@EasternGateGuardian Well there's a difference between being a catholic priest and a scientist and discovering something with science, and being a catholic priest and a scientist and discovering something with theology.
The big bang was discovered with science, not theology. It couldn't matter less what he was. He could have been a muslim, a jesuit or an amish.
@EasternGateGuardian Indeed. I actually do endorse people who come into the field of research because they want to study what they call "god's work", but they lose my support as soon as they start letting their religion influence their research and studies. If they feel the need to do this: "2+2 = 4, therefore god did it", then I lose all the respect for them that I had.
No reason to resent religion itself, but the people allowing it to influence their actions are the ones to resent.
@EasternGateGuardian - This is often given given as some kind of rationale, but pretty much everyone pre-1800 was religious...Even Darwin to a point....This has nothing to do with anything. The more we learn, the more ancient superstition we can discard. Everyone once believed rainbows to be acts of God but still managed to function despite being wrong.
@EasternGateGuardian - Sorry I thought it was clear....Everyone was once religious, so would have done what they did whilst believing in God...It is of no relevance to the discovery....Unless you are trying to prove your beliefs the belief itself is not in any way relevance to the discovery.
@EasternGateGuardian - I do. It's common knowledge, but still consider it pretty irrelevant. The Catholic Church is a trillion dollar industry. They have to do something. But I doubt there are even that many religious people in it!
But I think we're in agreement. I read you're original message as an endorsemnet of religious science.
The old paradigm is shifting, but it takes time. In 100 years, religion will go the way of the horse and buggy; a novelty that is no longer a viable means of getting anywhere.
I dunno; i'm quite certain that if he said that, it wouldn't sate the appetite of the more militant anti-theist thinkers (ie they would say "See: they know its bs and they're finally admitting it), so I don't think its negative that he's attempting to rationalize the change within the faith (as to be expected).
Welcome back! Wow, its been a year and 4 months! Fucking welcome back!!!!
Did you manage to listen to this speech from the man himself? If you did, hats off to you. I can't take listening to his dreary as fuck voice.
Nice question at the end. A good way of getting through one of the triumphs and beneficiaries science has provided us and pointing out the god of the gaps.
Ah yes... mind-limiting. Unlike the Popester, that well-dressed (if you're an 80-year-old fat woman) chap who has contributed such mind-boggling concepts of reality such as...
The pope like all other religious leaders is nothing more than a power hungry lying arsewipe willing to mislead their followers for their own gains.As far as I`m concerned they are a total disgrace to civilisation.
I am SO HAPPY to see VC is making videos again. Made my day. So, here's an honest question. I don't know the answer to this, so please enlighten me. This is sincere and it has to do with his question for us.
Are wisdom teeth an evolutionary leftover? If they are, isn't that kind of a giant, unavoidable flag to theists that evolution is right in front of them? In their very heads?
@fkerpants Of course, the wisdom teeth tend to disappear because we don't need them anymore. That's evidence for evolution. Look up for the coccyx also. The coccyx is what's left of our tailbone, it serves no purpose apart from hurting when you sit down too long or hurting if it breaks. This, and the wisdom teeth, are undisputable in-your-face testimonies of evolution.
But don't hold your breath, creationists already heard these ones and already have thousands of bogus arguments against it :D
Since they rehabilitated galileo, the catholic chuch have made enormous progress. They acknowledges the validity of the Big Bang and the theory of Evolution, admits that the biblical account of genesis is not to be taken litterally. The Vatican have a great observatory filled with good scientists. Some Vatican priests say heaven and hell are a mataphor. They're not like many protestant churches or muslims. Actually the catholic church is the most progressive church when it comes to science.
No catholic is a YEC. Creationists are evangelical american (or anglo-saxon) protestants or muslims.
I've checked the "everyday champion" school you mention, they're evangelicals, not catholics, so I don't get what you're saying here. I mean, I don't get the gap between the pope and this "everyday champions" evangelical school you mention.
Well he's right, science isn't responsible for the expansion of the Universe. But I'm not quite sure how one can prove that an invisible tyrant in the sky is responsible for it.
So the Pope in his infinite wisdom and glory has reached deep into the recesses of his conscious mind and pulled out the best explanation he could muster for the big bang as... ... ... "God did it".
Well thanks for that ya pointy hatted prick, now stop molesting things like science and little boys and pack up your circus and fuck off.
The dark age was the 20th century......and maybe even this century. So watch out. Last century the most bloody evil and murderous in all of history. Shame on you atheists. CATHOLIC STATE please :P
@amaqula That's rich coming for a catholic ... As for a that catholic state crap??? Why?? So you twits can start burning people for heresy and free-thinking again? You delusional idiots are no better than any of the other end of world, end of times abrahamic twats out there.
@PacalB Hey, fag boy, that's why we call you fags - because you will burn in hell. To answer your stupid question about giants, unicorns and dragons, paleontologists have discovered bones to prove that. Where have you been. Oh, yeah, too busy banging your buddy's butt. And why do you think the ancient Egyptions have pictures of men with heads of birds, and space crafts - centuries before the Bible.
If science is so infallable, why are 70% of the new pharmaceuticals responsible for injury and deaths and the pharmaceutical companies being sued more and more for malpractice? Wow. Atheists are the dumbest sheep on the planet.
@rkyeun You dipshit. People in biblical days lived to be 120 years old. Let's start with vaccines created by evil men that cause autism, etc. Let's talk about nuclear war, another brilliant (NOT!) creation of man, and how about pesticides, HAARP, etc.
The Sumerians deified their ancestors by making the myths include very long ages. The Bible plagiarizes that from them. Neither the Sumerians nor the Arabs lived for the spans given. The Bible is not evidence of the Bible.
Vaccines do not cause autism.
Pesticides allow us to produce the immense food surplus we have, so much so that we can share it with even nations that we hate to try and help their people survive.
@childrescuer "vaccines created by evil men that cause autism" ??? My my ... you are a bit of a delusional ignorant one aren't you? Care to source your "scientific research" for such a statement? Or have you been listening to that jenny mccarthy on crappy operah again? I bet you'd just love to see millions of children once again suffering from the effects of measles, mumps, rubella, polio again hmm? childrescuer? What a hypocritical name! You're a sick joke!
Your god is responsible for Big Bang? Sure.
Is your god responsible for Priest-Bang-Boys also?
Reminder: Catholic church believe their god made Earth and Heaven and Human just 6,000 years ago.
And Big Bang? 13,7 billion years ago.
Earth's age? 4,5 billion years.

The only big bang the Catholic Church cares about is that of their preists buggering their parishioners. If you (the public) actually care what Ratzinger says after all he's done? Well, then I can't see much hope for you as a human being.

The Big bang is accurately mentioned in Isiah 42:5. The repid stretching of the fabric of space

I suggest you stop using these atrocities of sloppy thinking right away.

LeksServices 1 year ago
@amaqula - "Nobody has a right to take the life of a defenseless innocent?" If that's in reference to abortion, than you just justified every rape that's ever happened to any pubescent woman. After all, disallowing sex is, in fact, disallowing the potential birth of a human being and thus "murdering a human life."
You are in fact the barbaric person. You feel you should tell people what they can and can not do with their own bodies and with whom, and other atrocities. We believe in liberty.
LeksServices 1 year ago
@LeksServices

Why do atheists think evolution is science?......it's not . It's biological HISTORY. I guess atheists want to hide their uselessness at the difficulat physics......so they have to pretend 'evolution' is cutting edge science. It is history.....there fore can never be exact. CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula History? Yes, evolution is history. It's historical fact that it happens.
The THEORY of evolution IS science however.
You need to bruch up on your trolling skills. They seem to be lacking.
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@Squiglypig
No.......nothing in history is fact.......it is probable. But not 100 % so. And even more so for evolution. We keep learinging more and more.......and the more we know......the more we know we don't know. It is a subject that is just too big. We can only say we think this might have happened. Evolution is not an exact science. CATHOLIC STATE please
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula Evolution is a fact. It's backed up by science. What can't be 100% certain is how evolution works, hence why there's theories about it. But evolution is 100% certain.
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@Squiglypig
Evolution is a theory......and is not an exact science. In fact it is hardly science at all......little more than psychology. LOL........and they think it is cutting edge science. No wonder they can't do physics......the real science. Too difficult for atheists. Monk scientists please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula "Evolution is a theory". Yes, the theory of evolution is a theory. But it's a scientific theory. A scientific theory is the best explanation we have for various phenomenon, which occur in the natural world. The theory of evolution explains how evolution works. But evolution takes place. That's been proven hundreds and thousands of times.
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@Squiglypig
So.....everyone can have a scientific theory.......I have one myself. Proving it is the important part. Evolution is full of holes......and is not cutting edge science......but natural history. Try doing physics sometime eh?! Only then will you prove you are a true scientist. Too hard for atheists eh?! CATHOLIC STATE please :P
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula No, what you have is a theory in the civilian terms.
A scientific theory is (like eyallev says) the highest place a scientific explanation of natural phenomenon can achieve.
Take gravity as an example. We all know that it occurs, since, if it didn't we would all just float around in space. So gravity does exist. The THEORY OF GRAVITY is an explanation as to HOW AND WHY this phenomenon occurs.
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@Squiglypig

amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula "who knows" indeed. Now you're saying that there's doubt whether or not your theories (which aren't scientific theories) are true. Isn't that sort of against the whole concept of your religon? About there being a doubt about the existence of your god?
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@Squiglypig
I never question the existence of God dum dum.......to do so would be a crime against reason. And I am too intelligent for that. Which is why Christians make the best scientists. @amaqula Show me the proof (or at least the logical evidence) for there being a god (and that god being YOUR version of the christian god).
Squiglypig 1 year ago
@amaqula a theory is the highest place you can reach in science. You have atomic theory, the theory of gravaty, cell theory. all thoes are theorys, just like evolution. and like evolution, they have all been prove true. Sure there might be some uncosivable reason why things work as if evolution is true, without it being so (like super smart alians controlling us), but science ignores thoes options, as be doing other wise, would mean that nothing would get done.

Squiglypig 1 year ago
@amaqula if you have no proof to support it, it's not much of a theory now is it? sounds to me, it's more of a hypotisis than a theory. theories are only theories in/after they have predictions, and confirmed by scienace.
eyallev 1 year ago
@eyallev
Well......my theory is just as good as atheist's evolutionary theory.......and I will have just as much evidence to support it as they have. Maybe even more :P CATHOLIC STATE to replace inept dying degenerate listless no hope secular states. They are at an evolutionary disadvantage.

Squiglypig 1 year ago

[/sarcasm]
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula Strange, I understood that biologists say we share physical traits with other animals because of shared ancestral forms. Since DNA research has shown that the fossil record matches the DNA patterns in related species, it seems to follow that the similarities are a result of the DNA that is shared.
Also, how does your theory of eyes-over-nose-over-mouth square against something like a scallop, that has eyes above and below it's mouth?
Also what about viruses evolving drug resistances?
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
yeah......they do......but they don't have definite proof of evolution is what I am saying. it is still a theory......and a lot of people have questions and doubts concerning it. Also evolution is natural and biological history.....not an exact science. And while not all animals have eyes nose mouth combination.....we do share with all organisms the fact that we eat reproduce....and die! This has been observed since time immemorial wouldn't you say. CATHOLIC STATE for me!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula Hello there Poe!
mangetuffa 1 year ago
@amaqula The fact that some people have questions and doubts does not invalidate the reams of evidence across many, many disciplines which all agree with the theory of evolution.
As other people have already noted, you seem to be confusing the layman's use of the word theory with the scientific use. It's not like scientists are uncertain about evolution.
Sure, I fully agree all life we know of has in common eating, reproducing and dieing.
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
It doesn't prove evolution either does it.........it remains a theory......and it is only a theory of natural history.....not the cutting edge of future science. CATHOLIC STATE please!!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula The cutting edge of future science isn't here yet, so what we do have is current cutting edge things like genome sequencing and genetic comparisons between species... Which directly support the (testable) predictions of evolution.
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
They are not the cutting edge of science......that's simple biology dummy! The cutting edge of science is the exact science....physics. Atheists haven't a clue when it comes to science. CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago 2
@amaqula Wow. Just Wow. You acuse atheists, who seem to tend to rely on the physical sciences to explain the world around them, of being clueless w.r.t. science? That's just nonsensical.
Accepting (for the sake of argument) that the recent developments in genetics are simply biology, why do you deny that the findings those scientists put forward are invalid when proving evolution?
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99 "simply biology" is a typo.
Should have been "simple biology." Sorry!
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
CATHOLIC STATE please!"
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula And why do you think that Chistians are master scientists? Doesn't Christian dogma tell you that many things are unknowable and therefore pointless to examine?
The reason I say evolution can be exact is that we can use the characteristics of objects in the present (like DNA) to determine how they got to be what they are now.
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula Basing your scientific efforts on the world being a 'rational understandable' place is a hallmark of the irreligious. Without a subjective reality having been created, manipulated and subject to the whim of god, we are left with the natural world and it's laws, within which we then have a consistant framework for experimentation.
You seem to miss the fact that believing in a god is for most people a reason not to examine the world indepth, since the questions are answered 'goddidit.'
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula That's right, things don't just jump up and order themselves. That requires energy to be added to the system. Oh look! We've got an enormous hydrogen fusion furnace blasting away at the planet all the time.
No, I think Christians lagged behind other cultures as a result of the doctrines enacted by the church which disallowed inquiry into what was supposedly only god's knowledge.
Further, your strawman of things creating themselves holds no water.
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99
CATHOLIC STATE please!
amaqula 1 year ago
@amaqula No, believing in something without any proof or evidence is illogical.
If the church "directed the philosophy which shaped scientific study," then why is Aristotle (384BC-322 BC) considered the father of science, who lived in a polytheistic culture?
Physicists continue to make groundbreaking discoveries, whether you value them or not.
How about the advances in early math attributed to Arabic cultures long before Christ, or the fact that contemporary Chinsese culture was more literate?
andruh99 1 year ago
@amaqula Lastly, since a "CATHOLIC STATE" is so important to you, why don't you move to the Vatican?
andruh99 1 year ago
@andruh99

@EasternGateGuardian - This is often given given as some kind of rationale, but pretty much everyone pre-1800 was religious...Even Darwin to a point....This has nothing to do with anything. The more we learn, the more ancient superstition we can discard. Everyone once believed rainbows to be acts of God but still managed to function despite being wrong.
rogan71 1 year ago
@rogan71
I don't get what your trying to imply.
EasternGateGuardian 1 year ago
@EasternGateGuardian - Sorry I thought it was clear....Everyone was once religious, so would have done what they did whilst believing in God...It is of no relevance to the discovery....Unless you are trying to prove your beliefs the belief itself is not in any way relevance to the discovery.

@EasternGateGuardian - I do. It's common knowledge, but still consider it pretty irrelevant. The Catholic Church is a trillion dollar industry. They have to do something. But I doubt there are even that many religious people in it!
But I think we're in agreement. I read you're original message as an endorsemnet of religious science.
rogan71 1 year ago
@rogan71
ah, ofc not. I guess the concept of ''religious'' science is an oxymoron.

The old paradigm is shifting, but it takes time. In 100 years, religion will go the way of the horse and buggy; a novelty that is no longer a viable means of getting anywhere.
womanlybassplayer 1 year ago

In their very heads?
fkerpants 1 year ago
@fkerpants Of course, the wisdom teeth tend to disappear because we don't need them anymore. That's evidence for evolution. Look up for the coccyx also. The coccyx is what's left of our tailbone, it serves no purpose apart from hurting when you sit down too long or hurting if it breaks. This, and the wisdom teeth, are undisputable in-your-face testimonies of evolution.
But don't hold your breath, creationists already heard these ones and already have thousands of bogus arguments against it :D
Knr911 1 year ago
Since they rehabilitated galileo, the catholic chuch have made enormous progress. They acknowledges the validity of the Big Bang and the theory of Evolution, admits that the biblical account of genesis is not to be taken litterally. The Vatican have a great observatory filled with good scientists. Some Vatican priests say heaven and hell are a mataphor. They're not like many protestant churches or muslims. Actually the catholic church is the most progressive church when it comes to science.
Knr911 1 year ago
@Knr911 .. cont.

Vinifera7 1 year ago
So the Pope in his infinite wisdom and glory has reached deep into the recesses of his conscious mind and pulled out the best explanation he could muster for the big bang as... ... ... "God did it".
Well thanks for that ya pointy hatted prick, now stop molesting things like science and little boys and pack up your circus and fuck off.

As usual, a false dichotomy that religion thrives on. Might as well say God or Satan.
Religion promotes and feeds on ignorance as we try to close the door on the last vestiges of the Dark Ages.
bencubed 1 year ago
@bencubed
The dark age was the 20th century......and maybe even this century. So watch out. Last century the most bloody evil and murderous in all of history. Shame on you atheists. CATHOLIC STATE please :P

Unless of course you believe the Bible. Then God has the most bloody and murderous centuries in all history.

Science didn't create the universe; it explores the universe.
If God exists, science will have to prove it.
I don't need scientific proof of the existence of God.
My faith in God allows me to check my ego at the door.

If science is so infallable, why are 70% of the new pharmaceuticals responsible for injury and deaths and the pharmaceutical companies being sued more and more for malpractice? Wow. Atheists are the dumbest sheep on the planet.
childrescuer 1 year ago
@childrescuer
Yeah, what does medicine know. Those extra 30 years of life expectancy are just an accident.
rkyeun 1 year ago
@rkyeun You dipshit. People in biblical days lived to be 120 years old. Let's start with vaccines created by evil men that cause autism, etc. Let's talk about nuclear war, another brilliant (NOT!) creation of man, and how about pesticides, HAARP, etc.
childrescuer 1 year ago
@childrescuer
HAARP is not science.
Nuclear war is not science.
rkyeun 1 year ago
@childrescuer "vaccines created by evil men that cause autism" ??? My my ... you are a bit of a delusional ignorant one aren't you? Care to source your "scientific research" for such a statement? Or have you been listening to that jenny mccarthy on crappy operah again? I bet you'd just love to see millions of children once again suffering from the effects of measles, mumps, rubella, polio again hmm? childrescuer? What a hypocritical name! You're a sick joke!
