jcims, the heat from the hood does not affect the performance of the system. Yes, a top mount is ideal but in many cases not too esthetically pleasing....

Don't you get a bunch of heat from the hood of the car? Seems like a top mount would be better (plus 360 degree view). Maybe no roof on this one?
