Nadal is on steroids, it is the worst kept secret in tennis and finally he got publicly called out on it by ex-Grand Slam champion Yannick Noah. Without that doping cheater Nadal, Federer would have won 2008 Wimbledon, 2009 Australian Open, and 2006, 2007, 2011 French Open. It sickens me that Federer is getting cheated out of Grandslams by this muscled up cheater. But the ATP will protect Rafa because they think he is too big to fail. a mi me parece la rivalidad mas injusta del tenis porque son 2 estilos diferentes, 1º clase vs fuerza, 2º la edad, federer es mayor 5 años a nadal 3º el fisico, nadal tiene cuerpo muy atletico mientras que fed tiene un cuerpo mas debil,4º nadal es zurdo aunque en realidad no lo sea, pero asi juega y  fed es diestro, y eso le da cierta ventaja a nadal porque son pocos los jugadores zurdos,pero aun asi yo creo que aunque nadal pueda superar los records de fed nunca igualara su gran talento!

Fed has major respect for Nadal, and how great it is for the sport when you put it in perspective, cause back in 2005-2006 where Nadal just had come into the scene Fed still ruled it all atleast in slams, and he would have kept doing it if it wasn´t for Nadal, he would have won every single slam since exept a very VERY few, less than you can count on one hand!

@roquefort88888 btw, it's very...small of you to look over the fact that nadal has won many tournaments on other surfaces besides clay. he's been to the wimbledon final 4 times and won once (maybe twice after sunday). he's only been to 1 hard court GS final, but he's won several masters 1000 events. also, just looking at rafa and feds' head 2 head (i'll leave out clay), they're even on hard court (3-3) and 2-1 on grass (feds) . who's better? probably roger. does that negate an epic rivalry? no.

@roquefort88888 i think you're about one of maybe 5 ppl who think this. yes, nadal is the best clay court player ever, but he's also worked hard to become more than that. also, using your logic, if we take grass out of the equation, feds has won 9 slams. still 9>2, but how asinine is it to fault someone for being exceptional on a particular surface? if not for rafa, feds would have been completely dominant in every facet of the game. that, by definition makes a great rivalry.

Saw how Federer annihilated Tsonga in the semies? There was so much variety in his game that I cannot remember a moment where he played twice the same play pattern.

He did not even give one chance to Tsonga to break his serve: zero break point opportunity given to his opponent in 3 sets...

Everythign was there: the high 90 forehand winners on the lines, all voleys and half voleys, drive volleys, backhand. passing, even drop shots...

He even had time to be arrogant a couple of times. You can bet Tsonga can play better, but really, when Federer has all his shots mastered like that, there's not a player who can play a decent game against that (except a full in shape Nadal)... you just sit and admire the Swiss Genius, the master of tennis and greatest player of all time: Roger Federer.

Hope he plays like that against Murray - the British will choke on his tea if he does!

The guy has clearly learnt something and... instead of growing in arrogance on the court, he does not stay stubborn at trying to beat people at their own game. If it works, he continues, if not, he tries soemthing else.

To beat roger, you have to beat him as a baseliner, as a net player, as a receiver... you have to better than Roger at Roger's game... and Roger's game cannot be resumed to defense, offense or net or baseline; his playing style is called simply "tennis".

In many ways I think their match at the Australian Open was a better match than the Wimbledon 08 final in terms of pure tennis and shot making. But the Wimbledon final will always get the attention because of the prestige of the tournament and the drama of the match itself e.g. rain delay, Federer's comeback and the 4th set breaker

I really admire both of the players being myself a Fed fan. I believe roger needs more confidence when playing rafa. In AO 2009 final his serve was miserable and he didnt enjoyed the break pts he had. Besides nadal has more victories over roger because most of them where in clay. SInce 2005 they have played 11 matches on clay and only 6 on hard courts (almost half) and 3 in grass but they were all in SW19. Federer was always at the claycourt finals and rafa rarely is in the hardcourt finals

Good post englandforever7. Their rivlary is fantastic. I am a huge Federer fan but I like to think that im subjective when it comes to Nadal. I didnt think Wimbledon 2008 could have been topped. You may not agree with me, but i thought Australia earlier this year did. You had the two of them at their absolute best, raw emotion til the very end. the winners from both were sick. I think Federer never realy had a chance in Wimbledon but in Australia, it was a fairly even contest for the most part!

Nadal does not have his heart and his head in the right place when he's on the court nowadays. I think more than the injuries he's mentally drained from having off the court problems like his parents divorcing. Who knows. His private life may be in shambles as well. HE hasnt been the same since Roland Garros.

Good point, since Roland Garros Nadal has lost his aura of invincibility and now all the players on tour believe they can beat him, as a result he has lost his confidence. And you can tell by the way he is playing. He only seems to go across court now with his forehand, he's lost his variety in his shot placement.

Federer and Nadal are true legends of tennis and also the whole of Sport. Nothing in the history of sport can beat or even competet wth this rivarly. It's based on total respect, not hatred which is incredible. I dont think Rafa gets enough credit that he deserves, people have to remember he's only 23, 5 years younger than Roger, with 6 grand slams to his name and he's beaten Fedz alot more times than Fedz has beaten him. I'll always admire both players but I think Wimbledon 2010 will be Rafa's!
