I have a pit mix and she loves EVERYONE! I live in a city where pits and mixes are illegal and my dog (only one of three pits/mixes) along with the other two full blooded pits are allowed to stay 'cause EVERYONE loves them. My friend has a LAB mix that attacked my friend and he had to get 27 stitches on his face and 11 on his arm, they let that dog off the hook. People need to wake up and see that it isn't the breed, it's how the dog was raised. Blame the deed, not the breed!!!

In my young life, I have seen, hugged, randomly walked up to about 30 or more pitbulls. I'm 25 and have met one bad pitbull. I found out why when one of my neighbours was teaching his pitbull to attack his other black lab. I think it's bad owners....because pitbulls are really big sucks who enjoy head massages.

I just found out about a group here in AB ( you will have to Google it as YouTube won't allow links. It is call Pit Bulls For Life and it is based in Spruce Grove probably because Edmonton has a "Dangerous Animal" bylaw. They are revisiting it, thank goodness.

Pit Bulls are a great breed, I have 2 pit mixes myself. What isn't great is the scum that raise them to be fighters.

My boyfriend and I are in the process of renting an apartment in suburban, we have a pit/lab mix & a 100% mutt, both rescues and both the LOVES of our life. I called one place b.c I saw in the ad that said apartment for rent but no bad dogs such as “pits, german shepards, rotties, etc..” so I called to start some trouble. @backspins24 The french woman was O.D ed. The woman's daughters fully believe the lab saved their mom's life by scratching and pawing at her face until she got up. But since its a dog and since they can't be sure, out of prudence's sake, they had the dog put down. That is the way normal people act.

My point was/is that breed restriction has no basis considering any animal can retaliate if coerced through violence, medical reasons, etc. I have a pit mix and used to fall for the anti-bull hysteria until I rescued my dog from a shelter and found out she just is a damn good dog.

No BSL has ever been enacted that did not grandfather the existing pit bulls in. Every dead pit bull, if those are from a ban area represent an owner that said, "I NEED to own a pit bull SO bad, I am willing to risk the PIT"S life.. And since there are no bad consequences for me, just death for a pit bull, I'm going to bring a pit bull into a ban area.
All other areas, its pit bull owners wanting to make a buck not caring their puppies will be euthed.

No, it's NOT impossible 2 identify a Pitbull - all it takes is a small blood test. But regardless of these, dogs, ALL dogs not just BSL banned breeds, shud b judged on merit/behavior NOT breed. I dont care that they ban pitbulls as a breed from being owned in the U.K, i do very much so care that when a "pitbull" is seized it gets killed regardless of whether its the best behaved dog in the world or not. Not only that but it is IMPOSSIBLE to identify a pitbull, yes impossible!Even the AKC doesn't have a pitbull breed standard nor does it register pitbulls which means when they identify a dog as a "pitbull" they're talking absolute rubbish,as by what standards did they conclude this?

One person is all it takes, be that 'one' and speak out against this terrible wrong. This isn't just a flawed law, it's a killer, it's unfair and it ruins the lives of families who do not have aggressive dogs. Surely we can protect our companion animals better than this in 2009? With fair and effective dog laws comes protection for people too. Why are innocent canine victims murdered yet criminals who make dogs dangerous get a slap on the wrist? We must be the change we want to see.
