i come over again every now and then to re-watch this video. Metric is awesome, and love just as much FLCL. Mamimi is one of the best characters ever.
Just membered this show and rewatched it twice, going for a third time. Could any one give a meaning to me for "never knows best" I saw it here and on her smoke. Is she refering to herself?
What most people dont realize is that "ta-kun" was Mamimis pet name for Tasku before he left for america. After that she looked for him in everything; kanti, the terminal core, the stray cat, and even Naota. Naota puts up with it because he misses his brother too, and for the attention.
Mamimi is one of my favorite anime characters. She's a cute, ditzy, airheaded, obsessive, chain-smoking, pyromaniac serial arsonist. Most characters can only qualify for half of those adjectives.
My favorite shot of her is her last scene, when you can see from her expression that everything up until then was all an act, and we finally get a brief glimpse at the real girl underneath it all. I think she's the only character that really matures; everyone else is still basically the same at the end.
So true, by the end she has completly moved on from tasku, I love how the last thing you see Naota say to her is "dont ever call me takun again". And she never does, if you believe the narration at the end. Its crazy how we can hold on to things long after they are gone, for me thats Mamimis story. luv flcl.
I would like a second season of 25 episodes and a movie. FLCL needs a second season. This is in my top three favorite animes. FLCL is an instant classic anime that never gets old.
true, i have all of them downloaded from limewire, i dont know where you live, but where im from, every body who has atleast seen it once has nothing but postive things to say. i wanna meet the people who have created this show and congradulate them for making my pubescent years sooooooooo much better.
Actually, I always thought the other version of this song had a certain quality to it that'd match something like FLCL. Interesting to see it (sorta) done
This song is so perfect for Mamimi, you did a great job matching lyrics to character. Plus, the dreamy melody works for her too- reminds me of her mellow speech patterns. ^^ Keep up the good work!
Is there any place to download this song? I can't find the CD on Amazon or Ebay, and I can't find the track on iTunes. Could you possibly send me the song over the net or something?
that may be true, but the director Kazuya Tsurumaki, said in one of the commentaries that he say it on a cigarette he found on the ground one day(something like that) and liked it and decided to work that into the show. That's cool because it does not feel forced at all, your explination makes sense as well.
Yeah i heard that before too...it can mean a lot of things. It's such a cool and interesting thing though. Oh and FYI I heard if you draw on a cigarette with pen or marker it tastes really bad ;) .
Wow, this AMV is much better than most others, at least this one doesn't seem like random clips set to music. It's a shame this one hasn't gotten more attention. 5 Stars =)
Gasp! No comments! Ah, sucks to those guys. I love this video. =D It's a hard song to sync, but you pulled it off. And, it's a beautiful song anyways. I could watch it forever.

"Who were you after? You were mine." That line is blatantly Mamimi in regards to her relationship with Naota.

To be honest, I have no idea. The show is the only place I've seen it, so I'm pretty sure they came up with it.
NeverKnowsBest101 5 years ago
it's a spinoff of Father and Mother knows Best, because Mamimi's parents appear to treat her like crap although she isn't homeless as many think

We always got to do the right thing,
But never know the best thing from the worst,
Until much later, too late.
I heard it was somthing like that. Its cool that it was an actual cigerette he found. So interesting how it connects with people.

Yea. But did the creators just come up with it or are they making a reference to something else is what i'm wondering.
