  • Perhaps you were unable to complete your nixie tube clock kit and make it work, so you stick it in the microwave out of frustration.

  • Pretty spectacular, ignore the haters cause you can do whatever you want with your money.

Also, filming your reflection wearing only underwear, classy. I suppose you discovered this after the filming and I doubt you could go for another take.

  • Are you stupid? Those tubes are rare nowadays. They aren't being produced anymore. Some people (like me) can actually use those tubes to make something useful. Instead, you just stick them in a microwave. Just fantastic. You are an idiot, ruining perfectly good devices for a couple of views on youtube. You're pathetic.

  • I have never heard of nixie tubes before, but I assume they are a lot like vaccum (spelling?) tubes? I have seen vac tubes in the microwave, they make this cool purple/pink color, but i have never seen blue! And yes, they do catch fire lol.

  • What a waste! Somebody made those tubes to serve a purpose other than to watch the pretty light they make as you destroy them. Next time destroy something you yourself made and see how fun it is to have your own labor thrown away for a few moments of cheap entertainment.

  • Great light show dovetastic.

I have a watch on my wrist, that's good enough for me.

  • mettici l'uccello nel micronde scemo

  • You are a fucktard. Those are in limited supply. Go microwave your nuts please and do the world a favor. Don't forget to post it on YouTube.

  • There goes part of a series bank of the internet.

    Thanks a lot, jackoff.

  • there is only a limited number of nixie tubes left in the world, and here you are destroying them....

  • Hurts my very heart seeing them burn; but.....why do they burn BLUE??? I've made some electromagnetic experiments, my tubes (nixies) always illuminated in the colour of neon ==> red/orange?!

  • You are a real idiot, destroying that work of art. I am building nixie clocks for clients and you really have no idea how hard it is to find good nixies nowadays. As far as I can see the clock that you've bought uses East German nixie which are really hard to find.

I really don't understand this world, some people try to create, invent, while the mass of sheeps is destroying everything!

  • fucking ass hole get a life

  • This has to be one of the most moronic things I have seen. Destroying someone-else's art for you own amusement. I hold my head in dismay if YOU have your 'artwork' displayed anywhere. Shows how moronic some members of society are. Why not use a microwave oven for it's intended purpose (and NO that is NOT moronic, YOU ARE).

Man get a life other than on you tube (it's called the real world), thankfully you will be forgotten within a few years......

  • Waste of a nice looking Nixie clock IMHO. Plenty of less wasteful stuff out there to microwave...

  • great light show!

  • Despite this being very wasteful, I have to say it was quite interesting watching the tubes glow like that. I only wish he had stopped before he destroyed it all.

  • As tyrell puit it - The Nixie tube that burns twice as bright burns half as long

  • shit....

  • MORRON.... IDIOT...

  • I fail to see the reason for microwaving nixie's. They are extremely rare and the clocks that you get expensive. Common cheap useless shit perfect for the microwave. But keep up the recycling.

  • @TheEPROM9 Not really rare. Loads and loads coming out of the former Soviet Union which is what is used in these clocks. You can literally buy them by the hundred on ebay.

  • What a shame!

  • You spent $500 on a nixie tube clock? I have a bridge I'll make a you a great deal on...

  • I am disgusted by this stupid destruction of that beautiful, and increasingly rare, device. This is not art. Artists create not destroy. Artists have skill or imagination. Putting an item into a microwave does not require any skill. I am sorry, but you are just a vandal.

  • @furchina Well, just because you miss (or even don't understand) sarcasm or irony doesn't make you even close to dumb. Some people (and some very smart ones too) don't have their brain "wired" in a way that makes you able to understand sarcasm.

It would be the same as saying: "If he doesn't speak, he is dumb" or "If he can't do math, he is dumb", or "If he is blind, he is dumb", or "If he can't read he is dumb".

Just thought I would point this out, no offence, and I'm sure you didn't meant any

  • Wow. what a sad sight.

Crikey, it's a lucky thing that they were only Nixie Tubes. It would have been even more of a tragedy if he'd nuked some You-Tubes!

  • @PonyHaven, I did microwave a 1940s era u-TUBE. Look it up.

  • it makes me very sad to see such a work of art get destroyed. if it was not working, there could have still been some good tubes that could have been used individually. other people would do anything for a nixie tube.

extinguishing the fire really had no sense. why not let it finish burning? or did you want to break the microwave plate too?

  • Destroying nixie tubes is HIGHLY un-cool, dude. Those are sacred devices in today's world. You can microwave an iPad or laptop, but microwaving nixie tubes is just about as uncool as putting a baby in there.

  • what was the point of this?.. you destroyed a 500 dollar nixie clock (artwork) and a microwave. Just to put a video of yourself breathing heavy on the internet ..... at least if I ever run over anyone named Kenny Irwin, I'll feel ok about it. For I will have raised the average IQ level of the Human Gene Pool.

  • Yeah, i mean, i understand a lightbulb but nixies are like a work of art. I would love to have that instead of seeing it destroyed

  • A suggestion: If you remove the metallic grid from the door of the microwave, you'll get better pictures. I also suggest that you stand directly behind the camera the whole time, ensuring that it has correct focus and exposure.

  • - @mumiemonstret -

Just curious if you know why that screen is there.

It's there (and they all have the same size holes in every microwave) because the frequency at 2.45 GHz produces a wavelength of 122 millimeters. The screen is there to prevent leakage of radio waves (which is what a microwave is) - it's a safety feature because they can't pass through the holes...the wavelength is too large. Without it microwave ovens wouldnt be as safe as they are.

  • @pmgodfrey

Allow me to translate for mumie:

"Your life is worth less to me than those nixie tubes. I'm so disgusted by your destruction of something valuable that I want you to die in a particularly ironic way, perhaps restoring balance and justice to the universe."

Still, good science lesson. : )

  • @pmgodfrey

Wow you're a dumb one... you completely missed the sarcasm of mumiemonstret's post! He was suggesting the video author expose himself to strong microwave radiation (and very quickly get cataracts in his eyes) because of the great offense he committed by destroying nixie tubes, which are now becoming rare antiques. But now I'm wondering whether you might not be even dumber than the video author!

  • What a pathetic waste of beautiful, now obsolete handmade objects. Anyone who has the time or inclination to do needs a girlfriend. Now go and w*nk off into some faeces, you loser.

  • What a crime and a waste! These tubes are no longer made. What are you trying to achieve?

  • Ironic how nixie tubes can handle an electromagnetic impulse from a nuclear bomb, yet an idiot with a microwave can destroy them in a matter of minutes. Entertaining, but very wasteful.

  • you freaking idiot

  • Someone obviously has some pyrophilia issues to willingly destroy such a fine piece of hardware.

  • Cool man.

  • gay video... a monkey can do that. i wanna see you build a microwave and a clock... and then destroy them.

  • whew. fine, then =)

( must admit, still looks cool)

  • WASTE OF TUBES

  • I built my own nixie clock and I have to say I would be very disappointed if this had been a perfectly functional clock when you zapped it.

The tubes are hard to come by nowadays (since no-one has made them for years) and are expensive. And a clock made to that sort of standard would have cost at least $200-300, maybe more.

The tubes in my clock were made in the UK in 1970, the year before I was born. The fascinating predecessors to LED displays.

  • I agree. That looked like the beginnings of a great clock effort. Please tell us you didn't destroy a superb project for that!

  • gah! the epilepsy!

  • can you microwave something that has the toronto maple leafs on it?

  • If all else fails, microwave it! You should do a Furby. Yeah, I know it has to be broken, but those things scare me. XD

  • Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I sounded harsh, it's because there are so many people on YouTube that senselessly destroy perfectly working objects. It makes me sick. Good to know that it wasn't working, thanks for telling me. I guess it also hit a little harder for me because I've always wanted one of those clocks bu they're way too expensive for my budget. :p

  • You know, I thought you said that all the items in your videos had something wrong with them. The blacklight CFL in one of your videos looked like it was new in the box. I would like to have been the owner of that nixie clock rather than seeing it go up in smoke. What was wrong with it? I'm sorry, nothing? That's what I thought.

  • it looks like a disco party in there, lmao!!

  • yeah you might wanna put a flashing lights may cause seizure warning on there...someone will sue ya and you wont get to bring us this enjoyment anymore

  • i just had a grand mal seizure!! cool!

  • actually, you cut something in the middle, right before the fire starts.

  • RAVE TIME!!!!

  • My, My, How time "Flashes" before your eyes..... LOL.....

  • this was a GOOD episode, and nice video format, interesting right almost to the very end

  • Have you ever microwaved a fork? If not, you should do that.

  • he will microwave a psp in a later episode just check out his channel for more detales

  • you should microwave a psp

  • thats badass

  • Seconded. Awesome episode, glad you found a better video format.

  • One of your best!

Speaking of Nixie, I was at Nixon's 2nd Inauguration in a box seat as a kid. I was right in front of where he stood up in the limo and shot the 2 handed V sign that's been shown a few times. Historical for completely different reasons than your trip!

  • Those nixie tubes really put on a show

  • I'm betting when that glass plate shattered into a million pieces you wish you were wearing something other than shorts huh? lol

  • Holy shit, maybe there should be a warning in the title for the epileptic?

  • rofl, totaly

  • spectacular!

  • zawezome :)

  • awesome,best one yet!!!!

  • cool lol

  • Holy shit man xD nice!!
