  • Dam EB is sic..A+

  • Wish there was a 10th planet gym in the UK, or at least one near me :/ There's only so much you can learn from vids.

  • He's so casual about it xD

  • the RG is not the solution for every guard problem ever some of the most successful bjj artists are very good with normal guard so if you think this guard will solve all of your problems your out of your mind but i am sure it can help if you use it right. the style of guard somebody uses is always been a preference to me

  • holy shit

  • I fucking LOVE rubber guard. Favorite submission from rubber is the Triangle choke but I'm trying to be more flexible with my submissions, so thanks for the submission tips bro

  • How do you guard against getting picked up and slammed from rubber guard?

  • See the Stack Attack video. Also, just let go of the RG if you are picked up. Also, using crack head control helps against the stack.

  • You guys have living, fighter raping proof, that Rubberguard works.

Sotiropolous showcased in it his last fight!

By the way, your the man. And thank you for the putting the time into all these videos.

  • You can let go, you can grab his leg, you can start striking and hope he lets go to change position. The rubber guard is used more in submission fighting and bjj where usually slams aren't allowed. Sometimes there's nothing you can do about it, and that's why you'll see top ranked fighters get slammed from guard.

  • This is sick. I want to see the rest of this!!!

  • Eddie is amazingly transitional.

  • Eddie in case you'll come to europe, plz visit finland as well :D

  • Can some one tell me what the move is at 0:44

  • I think he called it a vaporizer

  • vaporizer

  • @and1tanker its called the vaporizer

  • really fucking dope!!!!! I believe Eddie.

  • I want to start doing BJJ but im a big ass mofo (6'5" 312) and dont have very good hips and flexibility...I was wondering if rubber guard might still work for me. Hit me up with any advice

  • Eat food. Not much. Mostly plants. Eat less red meat and dairy products. Drink more water. Exercise and stretch daily for an hour or two.

Then you'll be on your way.

  • I wanted to see transition to mount from rubber guard :) oh well

  • search rubber guard sweeps

  • Are the any of your gyms in philadelphia?

  • i was just wondering, did eddie invent the rubber guard, and is it only teached at 10th planet ?

  • yes, or at least he is the person who gets credit. its in debat with some people :/ and i dunno, but im sure other people teach it now

  • I take BJJ at a none 10th planet gym and they rubber guard

  • no rubber guard is used in alot of places, ive trained jiu jitsu in 2 diff places and they both did, a very useful move too

  • yes

  • he revolutionized it and made it much more offensive

  • U guys develop the rubber guard

    but I just wonder(curious only)

Do u guys develop that many counter moves?

    lol

  • That shit is scary looking. Eddie knows his system so well that I can't even imagine rolling with him. Submission Central!

  • ajax, when he staks hook a leg, behind the knee, and pull it toward your head and push ur hips the other way. if done correctly you will mount him or if done sloppy he will fall and you will still have guard.

  • i got a question. my friend tends to stack me while i have him in the rubber guard. how do i prevent him from stacking me and keeping him on the ground?

  • Look up "Drop Kick: Sweep from a Stacked Rubber Guard" :)

  • he's totally stoned.

  • Hey, I've noticed a few people teaching rubber guard with a tight overhook on the opponent's arm instead of hugging the knee in New York. I like it personally and was just wondering if it's a technical difference between the way you and Eddie teach it or is it just preference? Mostly I'm just looking to make sure it's not some mistake that I don't understand yet.

  • Whoa, was the Submissions101 team trained by Eddie?

  • Eddie comes up to my school to give seminars several times a year. We run 10th Planet Victoria (one of Eddie's schools). I am a student under Eddie (a purple belt).

  • are there any schools in San Diego

  • Very important this basic tip is

  • When I get stacked from mission control I generally abandon the high leg for a sweep. You can pop it to the hip, push off/up with both legs as you keep his head and arm trapped and low and roll him over you, or you can pop the leg to the outside of his legs and sweep over. Subs101 has videos on both of these, I believe, and probably more too.

  • great stuff eddie,

just recently bought your book on half guard and rubber guard, and I have to say that the lockdown move has improved my 0.5 guard game 200%! However, my main problem is with the rubber guard. Once I get to zombie control, I don't have much problem dominating the battle for submissions. But in mission control, I keep getting pushed onto my neck or picked up .... If you've ever encountered a similar problem, what did you do to overcome it?

  • Seems like you aren't squeezing your knees together and controlling their arms. One thing I know about getting picked up, you need to post both arms to get that balance in order to execute that deadlift type movement. Work on your hip control of the leg that is posted lower.

  • fark all comments are good knowledge is power and being able to devise an create a technic or technics to a system would be awsome well done, ''bravo'' well done , start a school in australia.

    dallas alot to learn twentyman

  • You know there is a 10th Planet Melbourne right? Frank Barca is the head instructor and does seminars all over OZ!

  • Jiu jitsu is an effective humane way of dealing with someone, it's also very fun to practice with another grappler, plus there's no hard feelings if you get tapped because it brings down your ego and lets you know that the more you lose the MORE YOU LEARN.

  • a-men

  • Man Eddie Needs To Open a gym in South Florida! I'll be the first to sign up!

  • now that was nice! if only the attacks were slower hehehe

  • Always questioning the arts for the magic eye gouge, kick in the balls and bite... BJJ and grappling arts in general are effective against one opponent, against a gang I only beleive in running and no Bullshido arts, at least grappling is honest at that point. Great work, I hope one day learn Rubber Guard.

  • You could use BJJ in a real fight if the fight go's to the ground, I mean, it can be applied... Of course... I started my first MMA class last Wednesday and I'm going to register for 10th planet this thursday after the next MMA class and get things rolling. It's way to much fun, i wish I had been doing this before.

  • i never train with gi i find training no gi bjj will be much better for improving ur mma game and better for self defense.

  • vaporizer is so clutch

  • Damn Eddie Bravo is one sick dude, I wounder why he's such an innovator

  • is butterfly stretch the best stretch to be able to use rubber guard effectively?

  • Ari, what is the best way to escape from rubber guard when your on top?

  • Eddie is a solid guy. His book changed my game, not only with the rubber guard, but the flexibility has really opened by other guard games alot. I don't understand why the rubber guard gets so much hate or religious following. Its just another tool in the tool box. When I'm on my back I like to have both a hammer and a screwdriver, it all depends on the situation and the opponent.

  • wow...above quoted for truth.

    Well said.

  • because in a real fight its very easy to get slammed really hard from the rubber guard.

  • In a real fight, I wouldn't be trying sport jiu jitsu/BJJ anyways. Time a place for everything.

  • whats the difference between sport jiu jitsu and self defense gracie jiu jitsu?

  • go to a tournament and gouge someone's eyes out and they'l tell you the difrence OR go to a bar fight and wait for him to tap or rty taping when he's choking you THEN you will know the diference OR you'l die

  • It's basically just that GJJ was constructed with a lack of rules, and gi.

  • exactly! there is an escape, reversal, blah, blah, blah for everything. The whole point is knowing more than your opponent. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I agree with laxstar21, just another tool in the box!

  • Actually no. If you hug your own knee its astoundingly difficult to get picked up unless the guy is alot bigger.

  • If the guy can pick you up with one arm, then great. But the Rubber Guard is not a static guard, you don't wait for him to counter. You always want to move. If he does pick you up however you need to let go of it.

  • I agree that rubber guard is a blessing to some of us who are flexible or capable of achieving the flexibility. I also see how many people can't use it. Could you imagine someone like Danny Devito using rubber guard? :D

  • Now thats what I call going with the flow. So many techniques from one simple position!.

  • GREAT VIDEO.

    5 STARS.

  • i always wanted to ask why you post these videos and tell everyone your secrets?, it is wrong but that's just my opinion

  • There are no secrets out there. That way of thinking is perpetuated by people who want to keep you in the dark. The Jiu Jitsu community is about sharing and getting better as a whole.

  • and i for one want to thank you!!!, my BJJ game is light years ahead because of your vid's, keep em commin they really help.

remember wasala12 in the old days(1 year ago lol) you had to learn this stuff from a book if you didnt have a club, you should consider yourself lucky

  • I agree with Pete 110%.

  • If everyone kept everything a secret then the art of JJ would never expand.

  • simply beautiful jui jitsu

  • I mean my goodness Eddy Bravo is amazing; transitioned through them all so easily. I guess he should since he is the innovator but it's still amazing.

  • hey can you guys perform a calf slicer? i saw one the other day and it looked very painful.

  • you bet!

  • Hey, I've been watching your vids religiously and I was wondering if maybe you could show some good guard passing techniques, or point me to a video of them. That seems to be a weak area for me and it's getting frustrating. I love your videos and your technique is sooooo tight. Keep them coming. Thanks a ton.

  • <3<3

  • painful.. but it seems like people just take the pain since it causes no perm damage.

  • ari do you have a photo gallery of all BJJ students in your dojo?

  • No, I don't have a photo gallery of all my jiu jitu students. Why?

  • because i want to see lol

  • Do you guys have any videos of things like the gogoplata or straightjacket from rubber guard? Its a little fast to learn from this. I feel sorry for you Ari, Eddie is tough on you lol.

  • I'll be adding some VERY soon...stay tuned.

  • I think Judo and BJJ are a great combo too, at least here is difficult to find Japanese Jujitsu.

  • Judo has it's advantages, but it's super risky since they're always showing their back.

  • Too complicated, those things are extremely rare in street fights.

  • ??? This is sport jiu jitsu son. I think you are missing the point.

  • street

    jiujitsu< competion

  • how often does a guy mount another guy in street fights? All the time! The reason it doesn't happen is because random gang bangers are usually morons who aren't 1/4 as tough as they think they are. trust me this would work in a street fight.

  • Jiu Jitsu is a great art to learn for self defense (Japanese JJ mixed with BJJ is such a GOOD combo!). However, some of the moves in sport BJJ or 10thPJJ I would pass on in a real fight. Thumb in your eye then an arm bar...how lovely is that ;-)

  • I'm not saying it won't work, I'm just saying it's too complicated to learn for a street fight. It's a great technique, but I don't think somebody training for a street fight will apply this, very difficult to think of such a thing while being punched in the face.

  • brethren, most street fights end up in weapons being used or ganging up on one opponent. people are always getting shot or stabbed. Remember Martial arts are a tool, but are not invincible.

  • Thanks for sharing that.

  • NICE!!!

  • I love trying to use rubber guard at class. I definitely need to work on my flexability though. Keep up the awesome work.

  • eddie bravo sure visits you guys's place allot. when your doing an omoplata and they lock there hands together what do you do then? happend to me last night in jj.

  • You should've just gogo'd from that spot. It's an easy transition. And at the very least he'd most likely unclasp his hands trying to defend it where you could transition back to the omo.

  • in the beginning, he said there's just two things he's looking for, one is hand on the mat. what's the other thing?

  • elbow close toward the inside of the leg so he can mission pump to spider web.

  • The other option is to set your guard high on their shoulders and use the pump to get their elbows into the middle of your stomach. From there you can get a deep hook, clear the head, and go for the arm.

  • lol, I thought Dan was tough on you, Ari. X3

  • lol...Eddie bashes me to bits every time ;-) It's great!

  • yeah you guys are legends thanks so much.

i love eddie's way of explaining things because it all really helps heaps.

i pulled a twister off on the highest grade belt at my school and ive only just started practicing this art!

  • haha poor ari... seems like eddie put's on a beating when he demonstrates on you.

  • You could rename this video, "Five Years in 62 seconds!"

    Nice work

  • first view! lol : P you guys are doing great giving me new stuff to try all the time keep up the amazing work : )
