  • "Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet Eww but they're so spaced out, B-B-B-Benie and the Jets..s..s..s Oh but they're weird and they're wonderful Oh Bennie she's really keen She's got electric boots a mohair suit You know I read it in a magazine B-B-B-Benie and the Jets..s..s..s"

  • JAAAAAAAAAAAMIN'!!!! when I first heard my dad play this song, I was like "never heard this one before!"... jammin'...

  • @rtothemutha very swingy....!

  • is it, "...Oh Bennie she's really keen..."

or "Oh Bennie, she's a ready cane..."?

I've thought its been the latter for over three decades now...

(a "ready cane" would be a term for someone who is always willing and ready to go out. The term is dated now. Not the same as the "ready-rock 'caine" of the 80s ;-)

  • @budhunter09 Really keen.

  • i still wonder why some people believe billy joel is somehow better than sir elton john on the piano.

  • There's only one better preformer than Elton John..........and yes.....Elvis has left the building!!!!!!!

  • OOOOOOWWWWWWEEEEEEE !!

  • Best song ever written!

  • awesome :))

  • Replayyyy.

  • When my (sweet little boy who is now 38) son was little, he had a transistor radio given to him by his Papa and he would bring it to me and say "Mommy, Benny and da Jets?" I realized he needed a tape player at age 3! Gotta love it when our 3-year-old needs a tape player!!

  • @ClareBearNo1 ditto i am 41 I remember hearing this song when I was a little kid

  • @ClareBearNo1 its sad that all the 3 year olds nowadays want iphones and cd's from overproduced, talentless hacks *cough* justin bieber *cough cough* you're lucky you dont have to go through any of it. its a shame that you're little boy is probably going through it right now

  • @JAllen591

My sweet little boy is 38 and his kids are 17 and 12, They all have better taste in music than the average kid, thank God! I taught him well and he passed it on to his kids. They are all Deadheads that like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. :)

  • Great tune. I'm Glad Haley Reinhart introduced this to a younger generation.

  • You make no sense...

  • How the fuck does one song from Justin Bieber have more views than this!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @travishirey umm what joke? haha i think your replying to the wrong person.

  • Amazing

  • How the hell can you NOT like this true classic!!!

  • Yes, this is arguably Elton's best song ever, although I think the moment, "Back to the howling old woods..." (specifically, the part, 'Back to....") in the song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is his best ever progression.

  • whyyyyy does nobody listen to this music now.

it is just so much BETTER.

  • @thecompleteopposite Because it's too difficult for them.

  • @gte225 haha true

  • @thecompleteopposite Hey man, I'm listenin to it right now haha.

  • @derekisazombie39 props to you then (:

  • @thecompleteopposite Agreed! This music is FANTASTIC.

  • @thecompleteopposite I know! Reminds me of the other day... my health teacher and a couple of students and I are planning an anti-bullying/community-building/suicide-awareness week at our school, and we were discussing songs that might work well to play before the first bell rings, songs that might be motivational and encourage people to be kind. I suggested "Bridge over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. He said, "It's three times as old as any student here." I said, "But it's GREAT."

  • 2 people are Haley Reinhart and one of her stupid fucking fans.

As a related side note, anyone who considered her butchery of this last night so much as CLOSE to as good as Elton's version does not deserve the ability to hear.

  • @RazrHack

Uhhhhhh i think she did pretty good.

of course, nothing comes close to Elton.. but she wasnt bad.

  • Elton's staccato piano melody makes this such a unique song.

  • i was 11 yrs yougn when this was crankin on the AM radio in NJ. Tommy Fotino do you remember listening my childhood friend forever? :)

  • Best Eltons album

  • @mindaugas496 Me too. 11 years old in Hollywood, CA. This is the song that sends the childhood memories flying back! Be grateful you're not 11 years old today.

  • @Brujo1962 and me too, 11 years old back then, in Perth , WA (thats in Australia) AM radio only back in those days. So many good songs on this album

  • LUV IT!!!!!!!

    MY NEW FAVE SONG!!!!!!!!

  • dam the song exchange

  • Why the hell this song makes me wanna cry? :(

  • @max4st fuck yeah man, me too, this guys the shit!!

  • hey im a metalhead but this song rulez

  • SHE'S GOT ELECTRIC BOOTS, A MOHAIR SUIT

  • I saw Elton LIVE last year and I honestly didn't know before that this was his song. I only knew the piano from Mary J Blige's Deep Inside...anyway, it was a great experience for me :)

  • You knew Elton John was the shit when Frankie Crocker was playing "Bennie & The Jets" on WBLS in New York...and it was a R&B station!....Elton at that time had major crossover appeal and after nearly 40 YEARS this still sounds as fresh as when it came out!

  • The first time I saw EJ live was back in 1974 at Madison Sq. Garden when he was promoting the YBRoad album. Great concert. He brought John Lennon on stage to play a few songs with him that night. Sadly, it was the last time Lennon ever set foot on a stage.

  • How the hell can someone give this a thumbs down? Must be a terrorist

  • Best song ever.

  • Not to worry; the people that disliked were probably inbred hillbillies.

  • who disliked this song. you suck

  • Radio stations would over play this song and most of his others... but you couldn't ask for a better artist being played over and over Especially with some of the sappy crap that was hitting the air waves. As joey put it so perfectly..When he dropped a single, everyone took a back seat. Classic.

  • I remember what I was doing in 1973..when this song came out...do you? :)

  • @3308Scorpi I remember, I was on my way to Viet Nam....

  • classic..

  • to COOL

  • you know I have bought this album atleast half a dozen times and still don,t own a copy. Left at too many parties in my youth. Left on the passenger seat with the window down, along with my best friend takemine full body. Thank God for youtube!

  • I concur Supermessiah8. Musically, Elton has always been a major part of my life, FUCKING MAJOR!!!!! I guess Gus added the crowd noises since the songs about a fictious rock group, giving it sort of an added dimension, anyways it's all way to cool!!!

  • this song is so good.

  • There is a reason Elton is worth 500 mil & Bernie is worth 300 mil The reason is because the world thinks they Kick Rock n Roll Ass !

  • Reg was tooo hot back then, everyone took a back seat when he dropped a single

  • 2 people apparantly have no idea where the yellow brick road is

  • Me whistling at the start.... i was there!

  • I don't know about the rest of you but all of Elton John's music is a big part of the sound track of my life...

  • Love this song.

  • I wonder why Sir Elton's producer added crowd noise to it? What was Gus Dudgeon thinkin'? Billboard's 362nd #1 hit of the rock era. God bless!

  • @4:08

  • Those were the days...when great songs were all over...ahhhh the 70's

  • While Mr. Elton John is genius, I can't help but think of "27 Dresses" when I hear this song.

  • A man can't insult Elton john, you could say he could do something better than he did. But you can't insult him, he's got a long successful career with many hit songs that people still laugh and sing along with today. Hell you could say the same with the Beatles and the Stones.

  • Good song.

  • This song is about aloha Bobbie and Rose

  • :( my friend and i wanted to see Elton John a couple of moths ago we didnt get to though.

  • This album is all I wanted for my 13th birthday and I played the hell out of it went I got it! I still have it, even though I don't even have a turntable anymore.

I got to see Elton last year in concert, was so much better than I could have imagined, I was just blown away by his arrangements, quality of musicians in his band and the shear talent honed by 43 years of performing. His voice is a bit lower now but still very good and the show was amazing!!

  • 1 person is...is... Well I don't know, who doesn't like Elton John?!

  • im smoking my bong to this song... my way of saying i love it!

lets all get high tonight =)

  • This guy is a huge inspiration to piano players and musicians. Glad he's still with us.

  • BBB Bennie and the Jetsssssssss

  • represents Eltons height of his career

  • @spydey550

Which is ironic since he's fairly short

  • the one person that disliked this can suck hobo wang.

  • @turtlepower422 HAHAHAHAHA! Right you are!

  • @turtlepower422 he probably does :-)

  • @turtlepower422

    Hobo wang, brilliant

  • Has there ever been a better sequence in an album than Funeral for a Friend. Love Lies Bleeding, Candle in the Wind, Bennie and the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road? All greater tracks than most artists manage in a whole career

  • You know I read it in a magazaieeeennn ooo. That's the greatest way to say magazine. Possibly EJ's greatest song EVER.

  • Special, hopefully i don't need to say anymore!

  • some of Eltons earlier hits like "Crocodile Rock" and "Daniel"..yea they were ok but when "Bennie and the Jets" hit it big in the spring of 1974....WHOA!!!....BULLSEYE!!!......That got my attention......and Now I'm a fan!!

  • What can I say, I put this as the greatest rock&roll contribution in history. Sorry Pink Floyd & Cat Stevens.

  • 0 dislikes, THAT'S what I like to see!!! :p

  • GREAT INTRO. I don't care if he's gay,did drugs.....His music was with me as i grew up through all those troublesome teen years. He will always be on my playlist....

bennie and the jets, funeal for friend among others. THANK YOU SIR ELTON

  • One of the greatest artists and songs ever, and yet the views don't even touch weaker musicians of this generation...

  • Greatest!

  • I never get tired of this song!!! B-B-B-Benny and the Jetsssssssssssssss! (:

  • The Union, with Leon Russell, is Elton's best album since the mid 70s.

  • A real slow burner

  • of course this would have 0 dislikes

    ITS THE BEST SONG EVER

  • @morleyskyecp nope. its got 2 now :)

  • @morleyskyecp AU CONTRAIRE

  • @morleyskyecp sadly 2 assholes had to go and press dislike :(

  • @morleyskyecp in some respects, it is arguably one of the best songs ever.

  • @morleyskyecp 2 people wanted to prove you wrong it looks like

  • @travishirey What, are you one of those two? Your wording doesn't help the case, of you being just a bystander to that. :/

  • @morleyskyecp sadly now theres 2]:

  • PERFECTION!!!!

  • Elton certainly captured the early seventies..but, so what ??? what about the eighties and the nineties and so on and so forth, to quote Shakespeare ??? Or ought the 'Bard' to be forgotten by now ??? Perhaps it's time for some MIlton ??

  • My name is Ben and I have loved this amazing song since it's inception back in the 70's - Elton John is one of the greatest creators of sound that we, as a human race, could have ever imagined.....

  • Yay, nobody missed the "like" button on this song! (Let's keep it that way...) ;-)

  • jetsssssssssssss

  • awesome song. : )

  • when i listen to this song, i can't get the image of people swaying out of my head.

  • My good-natured brother got his nickname Benny...due to the fact that he stuttered as a kid!

  • im fourteen and i freakin love elton john

  • @k2g6 Cool. It's nice to see I'm not the only one in their early teen years who's obsessed with him.

  • awesome tune

  • Greatest Song ever.

  • I HERD HE LIEK MUDKIPZ!

  • @skrilla88 LOL

  • Favorite EJ song ever!

  • this is one of the greatest ever

  • Only ever a 'b' side in Britain, scandalous waste, would have made No1. Instead we had to suffer 'Candle In The Fucking Wind' !!! Ah well. Pax to all from 'SoulBoy' Smith.Xxx.

  • @Mr1973ian topped the charts here in the U.S. plus was in the juke boxes!!!!

  • @Mr1973ian HEY candle in the wind is a beautiful song!

  • @2Guys1Contour Ok sorry perhaps I was a little harsh on 'Candle' , but I think this song is much better.Pax to all from'SoulBoy'Smith.Xxx.

  • to me, billy joel songs get tired and overplayed, same with fleetwood mac,and the eagles... but elton john songs I can listen to countless times and love it every time.

I've heard this song 100's of times, still love it. he is magic.

  • Universally Timeless!!!

  • One of the first songs I heard from this "new artist" back in the day. Everybody was asking what it meant, but who cared?? "Where we fight our parents out in the streets to find who's right and who's wrong..."

  • WOW i LOVE this song!

  • B-B-B-BENNY BEEENNNY BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENYY AND THEE JEEETSSSS

  • what does this song mean?

  • @kackod101 its about a fictional band

  • @kackod101 Elton wrote this as a homage to "Glam Rock," a style defined by outrageous costumes that was popular in the early '70s, especially in the UK. Artists like David Bowie and Gary Glitter got into the act. The falsetto vocal is Elton trying to sound like Frankie Valli. He was a fan of Frankie Valli And The 4 Seasons growing up, and went to at least one of their concerts when he was young.

  • @OrionDenali That would be Bernie writing the song.... and you are forgetting Queen. His roots are firm in soul, such as performing with Patti LaBelle back in the day and his confessed mentor is Leon Russell. He came to America to break through, which is somewhat unusual. He got away from his roots and into the whole glitz and glamour of the music industry at the time. He seems to be coming full circle however as evidenced in the latest collaboration with Leon. I think its great.

  • Another one of E.J.'s greatest... The man is just amazing!!!

  • pure joy when I hear the first chords...

  • PURE SOUL

  • @hapzap13, amen to that!!

  • I don't know why, but whenever I hear this song, I feel so happy :)

There's something about the piano, the drums, and guitar in sync to the beat that makes the song so jaunty and chill.... ~_~

    This song is immortal!

  • Elton John Is amazing!!!

  • Elton at his best . Enjoy, Peace

  • bennie and the mets lol

  • dosent get better than this

love love love b,b,b,benny and the jets

    WOHHO

  • OH WOW i'm the first to comment come on people this song rocks!!!!!!!! WHO AGREES

  • weird how i always was a big elton john fan back in the 70's but i always hated the song and never could figure why. I then recently heard that a lot of black people love this song. I find that weirder than my not liking this song.
