Check my Minecraft with Nidian playlist with the Terraformation series, I did the same, then spended hours making the edges more smooth.

i say like the old treehouse to the new one with a minecart track for you can use the old one as a safehouse/warehouse so that way if the new one is under attack you can escape to the new one and also if you have to much stuff stored in new one and not enough wood to make chests use the old treehouse to store those items
